The latest on timing for Sting

We want to give you an update on our timing for Sting and some detail about why we are announcing a new opening date.

We are working on changes to prevent an issue with housing escrow items becoming lost when a player sells their premium personal or kinship house. Unfortunately, while we have made significant progress on correcting this issue, this fix has not yet passed internal testing. As a result, we are postponing the launch of Sting until this issue is corrected. We expect Sting to open no earlier then May 21st, and we'll have more information on timing when we can. We are working to get a preview of this housing escrow fix onto Bullroarer, and we will have more information on that timing as soon as we can.

IMPORTANT: This fix aims to return items that have gone missing to date. This fix will only correct items that went missing due to the sale of a premium personal or kinship home. However, this fix REQUIRES players to log into their current game world prior to further transfers. Failing to do so will permanently disassociate missing items from your game account, and customer support will not be able to assist. Therefore, it is extremely important that players log into a game world once this fix is in place prior to any further transfers.

Players currently transferring should remove all hooked items and place them into character storage, and remove all items from any small Premium per-house Storage chests, prior to any Shared Items transfer. We encourage all players to not conduct any Shared Items transfer unless they remove these items and place them into character storage.

We will have more information on the timing of transfers from "dark worlds" and rotating transfers between 64-bit game worlds in the future.

To change the topic from angry players' messages to this message)) - is there a plan to extend the Legendary Item Reward Track? In my opinion, it would be fair to extend it by a week.

ehm? sorry? as an example; how should a player with over 1k Items do such things?
i mean sure we can create some alts and ''BUY'' more ''Large Housing Carry-all'' but in those you can like store up to 50Items only.., which makes it really expensive for what can be placed in this specific ''carry-all'' maybe you should change them into something where we can add up to 500 Items at once and not only 50.., because i do not want to create alts just to be able to really have my stuff safe.., and BUYING even more ''Large Housing Carry-all'' is stupid at some point, just you making more money out of less effort...
or allow those specific ''carry-all'' to hold up more items than just 50;
- ''Small Housing Decoration Carry-all'' (10 Items can be placed in this specific one) Price; 1'295 LotRO-Points.., expensive for 10 places..
why not increase it for the Small one to ''150'' spaces? and for the Medium one ''300'' and for the Large ''450''? but just for the Housing Decoration Carry-all?

I also wonder how players are supposed to empty multiple houses including their storage. I did so with 1 premium and it took 2 characters that had nothing in their bags.

"Current game world" being the world on which the item was lost from? What about those of us with multiple origin worlds?
Where you currently are. The main issue is do not transfer until you log into that character once the fix goes live.
will this fix all missing items from the transfers or ONLY for peopel who sent tickets?
This will likely not fix "all missing items", but the plan is to restore items that went missing due to this cause.

Since the announcement specifies this fix is for those who sold Premium houses/kinhouses, does that mean that people who lost things when they sold Classic houses/kinhouses are being affected by a different bug? Will there be a similar fix coming for those people or would it be best for them to continue to submit tickets to CS for resolution?

An update for these people would be greatly appreciated as well so they don't feel forgotten.

You may know this already, but I found out that the housing items stack in carry all bags. I used those to consolidate duplicate items I had across multiple houses when I moved. It helped quite a lot.

This is VERY important information for all who might plan to do transfers.
Not sure this posting regarding Sting will cover so many other future transfers.
There is a possible huge downside for not knowing this vital information.

My carry all bags were already filled. That's why I bought them in the first place. I'm not going to buy bags I will only use for this move. They are to expensive to sit empty in the vault after.

Just want to check on the wording of this. Those of us transferring with premium houses were told NOT to sell the house before transferring. Will this fix also return missing items lost from premium houses that were not sold during the transfer?

Yeah, we need some clarification.

Non-premium kin and personal houses were to be abandoned.
Premium kin houses were to be sold.
Premium personal houses were NOT to be sold.
(I think?)

I have contents of 3 dwellings missing. 2 non-premium kin houses and 1 premium personal house.

* UPDATE *
I just got my missing stuff back for one of the non-premium kin houses.

As someone who transferred without any problems this time (I lost stuff years ago when transferring from Anor) I would like to make my suggestion as to what to do:
1. Empty kinhouse and other houses of everything that is important and irreplaceable including all storage, both shared and premium house storage - create a storage toon or 2 if necessary.
2. Abandon kinhouse and check escrow to make sure there is nothing in there that you can't afford to lose.
3. If you have more than 1 house, abandon all but the cheapest (must keep at least 1 house to retain storage upgrades)

My understanding is this will correct missing items that went missing during the sale of a premium house. Other reasons that items went missing are not likely to be corrected by this work. Whether the "forced sale" essentially of a home during the transfer process is included in the above fix is not clear to me. If I get more information I will let you know, otherwise we'll know for sure tomorrow. But in general this fix will only correct missing items caused by this bug, so other causes of missing items will have to be addressed separately.
I second the question of whether this applies to classic houses as well, including classic kinship houses.
It is not clear to me whether this will also correct items that some players have reported missing from Classic houses. I don't think so.

Not as much progress as I'd hoped for, but thanks for the update.

UPDATE on Ticket #402019 April 3, 2025 at 7:22 PM.

I received a response today regarding one set of missing escrow items. I logged into the original world, Landroval, and found the missing items in Shared Storage. I closed out and requested a Shared Items transfer from the launcher. Then I logged into my new world, Peregrin. There I found the missing items in the Shared Storage Chest.

Players currently transferring should remove all hooked items and place them into character storage, and remove all items from any small Premium per-house Storage chests, prior to any Shared Items transfer.
Does this mean that those of us waiting to transfer from the 32-bit servers will not have to go through the above process of removing hooked items, say a month from now? Because having a Premium Kinship, and 3 deluxe premium houses would require what? 600-800+ empty storage spaces between bags & banks. Absolutely impossible for me.
