Well, thanks for what it's worth. Free stuff is free stuff. I can't say I'm well pleased about it, though. I lost stuff to the escrow situation and this gift doesn't come close to replacing what was lost. I have been a regular customer for a long time and expect a little more than this to make up for years as a customer, when my stuff vanishes into oblivion.

I don't have a horse in the VIP time race, but the escrow situation must be addressed. The tickets aren't going anywhere and it's blatantly obvious that the items are gone for good. At least be frank about that. The beginning of all wisdom is acknowledgement of facts.

I would like to know what you think is "blatantly obvious" about it when the latest updates from Severlin state explicitly that they are working on a tool to pull information from the database to get people their items back because it takes so long to do it manually. It sounds like it's an even more intensive process than restoring lost wallet contents was and that took quite a long time to do manually too.

A link to the post brought over to from Discord is here if you haven't seen it: https://forums.lotro.com/index.php?...w-items-from-the-database-from-discord.20902/

I want to say that Cord expanded on the process they were doing somewhere, but I'm still looking for that post. It might be I was just hoping he or Severlin would do that since the more information we can give the people waiting, the better.

Agreed except for "gone for good." There should have been backups from before the transfers opening. It should be easy to find out exactly what we had.

Sorry, but this package is a joke.
This can be given to new players as a starter package, for example, when they reach level 50, but for an apology package, this is really lousy.
I'm not ungrateful, so I thank you for the value of the package. However, this doesn't even begin to reflect the effort and suffering that many players have had to endure. As many have already written here, I also find the contents of the package poorly thought out. The worst thing is the Pick-a-Mount box. It only contains festive horses, most of which aren't even worth the playtime for tokens. A VIP month or LP would have been a better choice for everyone here.
As I wrote in another post, they should have simply postponed the move to the new servers until they were actually ready.

Yes exactly. It's a nice surprise for celebrative occasions but really not suited for an apology. They could still come back by giving out another code which would contain some points + fluff and or carry-all and mark it as anniversary celebration (18 is a somewhat special age) - but i doubt it since the sales seem extra tightfisted lately... But imagine they would give out a code for 250 points? Outrageous! Nearly enough to buy +5 inventory slots or even an extra milestone lol.

On a sidenote Lotro really is the only game i know where you can get premium currency by playing the game but they never give out any for promotions or celebrations, not on anniversary, not christmas not after making a huge portion of the playerbase upset... Maybe (historically) one 'sorry' every 7 years or something - well i never in my life got even 100 free points (aka $1) in over 10 years of playing

Does the code still work? I haven't been able to use my computer until today due to technical problems.

EDIT: Just realized I somehow misread May 18th as April 18th.

I presume some of these gifts will not stack with similar items we might already have, and require further space to hold?

Have not done the calculation of the Elixir against the max required for just one virtue.
hmm so at 94 162,800 2,500 would be 1.5% of just one.
We are at around 3.4 million for the 21 now SSG. Just for one char on the account. Also a largely superseded mechanic since traceries came into being. Like offers of Marks and before that tomes became near redundant but as a separate source still applicable but poor return from the grinds and purchases.

Always gifts that are a window into what is available in the store to buy advances.

Nice gift would be charge staff for the free LP and MC all these years so they can start to appreciate what it means to a be customer advancing their characters and their accounts/interests? Would any play then?

I get it's hard to have a single gift package for every account. But obviously accounts are wholly different so why doesn't SSG know this? Can't run a query to identify what might be of use? Is why we are at this juncture I suspect.

Like some flowers I could pick up from am accident black spot it costs nothing handing a bunch to your girlfriend but for morality and empathy. I would not, might leave some. Would you force your girlfriend to to thank you first?

You're welcome OP. I can't seem to quit this game but as one who plays only creep side, I feel another group needs thanking, so I will.
Thank you to those who play with minimal (lol at the understatement) enhancements while your NPC and bot (freeps) enemies are constantly enhanced. I thank the creeps who play for the love of the game knowing eSeSGee doesn't care if the ToS are broken. (Cheating is fine but don't mis-label someone in OOC. lol) Thanks to the new players who are so crippled starting out, finishing the initial questline is more trouble than I would go through before quitting to find another game to spend time and money on. Thank you also to those who actually spend money on store items to give that bit of extra survivability, knowing that freeps have that also plus more craft able enhancements on top of their super-abilities. Finally, I would like to thank the creeps who continue to play knowing all of this but still put up with all the freeps who grief, cheat and are not intelligent enough to realize that you can easily leave and they will have nothing to do but crafting or playing broken, lagged out content. This isn't official but I thank you.

They can't answer a ticket for over a month...? Never heard a MMO where they haven't answered a ticket within a week.. so a month is not acceptable at all.
I like to thank you for posting on this thread. I had no clue about this freebie even though I've been in and out of the forums. Due to all the transfer and stuff.
Said May 18th would be the cut off.. but it still worked as of today May the 24th.
So if anyone else hasn't gotten their freebie.. get while you can. Remember it's one per account so choose you char(world) wisely.

Everdeen, you probably aren't that old; but I experienced worse things in a Korean MMO, where players got hacked left and right, and CS constantly claimed it was their fault, and took up to three months to 'restore' their items (which had vanished in a merging process) by giving them a rather low amount of rupees and a helper pet at level one, regardless of the level of the character.

I kept my one special pet only because I was very silent and didn't even show it when people were around. Others had no luck doing this, because they were in the focus of the hackers, and got robbed as soon as their pets had reached a useful level. And all the time, the management had no clue why the hackers wandered around like root admins.

Turned out, they had used a broken library for their database with a ******** that was wide open for a decade, until somone reported it.

After this experience, anything that is not on this level doesn't bother me any longer.

The only time I experienced something like this was back in the day, when I still played WoW. I logged in after a few weeks of absence, realised that someone had robbed my account blind in the meantime, opened a ticket and two hours later my account with all characters and items was restored.

On the other hand, there's LOTRO, where a ticket can take 4-6 weeks. But the community is way nicer.

Swings and roundabouts.

I am old, but haven't played for a long while. Been playing other games and been playing Life, but yesterday I finally got answer on my ticket that was submitted a month ago, but still nothing that resolved my case. It doesn't matter, but a month answer is not acceptable. And no, i haven't played much korean MMO's.

keep in mind, that as someone that has played for oevr 18 years, we had tickets adressed often within a few hours or days, before the server moves. This doesn't mean resolved some times there are technical reasons why it is adressed and marked as not resolved.
With the introduction of 64 bit servers I think, SSG underestimated that folks that had not played in 10 years woudl be back to move everything too, this has created a back-log for CS.
With a small staff this means the turn around for tickets wont be what it was.
Imagine, over 100k messages in about 3 days, and you are a small staff.
It takes time.
