Rivendell housing decor scale

Once again, they have given us housing decor that is completely out of scale for their intended use. Every 'combination' piece of the new Elven decor is much too small. I would ask, as we did when the Lindelby housing items came out, that the scale of these new items be increased to better fit the people and places they were intended for.

I will make another post about what I think of the 'style' of this decor, but let's just say, after all the marvelous Umbari decor we have been given in these many months, these new Rivendell items are... disappointing.

It is not strange that sometimes the devs get thesize scale
of house decoration items, accidentally smaller than desired. You can open a /bug report of those items. Take screenshots of all them with your toon standing very close & using them to illustrate how they are wrong. Examples:
  • Chair with toon sitting & without sit.
  • Bed with toon laying over it.
  • Table with toon standing beside it.
  • Elven stable with toon & its horse standing beside its door (horse must be able to walk indoors without bow down).
Ideally people should have reported that at bullroarer
test server but they didn't. The people that participated there, only mentioned that the stove was too small. Maybe the devs changed the items scale right before they got released on live servers. Forgiving that the tiny size was surely a bug, those new elven items looks beautiful.

In my defence, I did all my Bullroarer testing with my River-hobbit and I didn't notice they were too small! I should have copied one of my elves over instead. :giggle:

Then you are totally dismissed! I meant to those others,
that i saw in their tall elves at the screenshots, being very critical about the dry paint colour of their future elven houses. I will not say names. My main is a elf too but I couldn't log during those tests. 😉

Anyways, it isn't a big deal. I'm m 100% sure that the devs will correct those decoration items soon enough.

Once we have all used them for our hobbit homes.

But you should know better already because it is obviously
a mistake on the scaling & they will get fixed. Either way, once they get upscaled, you can simply sink them under the floor of your smial to make them short enough for hobbit height, if you wish to use them there. What matters is that their default size get suitable even for the tallest elves.

I hope they do correct the size issues maybe they can look at the upside down texture on one side of the Rivendell stable and look at the misaligned invisible box on the kitchen worktop that stops you getting to the counter and pushes you well away when trying to get around it.
I paid good money to buy keys go get these items and that are a scam as it stands.

Agree but those are things that people also failed to
report while at bullroarer test server. People forget that the purpose of the test server is to find the bugs & report them with /bug , ASAP, before they get released. That is the only away, to avoid that they get released bugged at live servers.

Yes totally agree I reported the upside down texture twice whilst on BR, so am a tad disappointed to see it still on the loot box version. Let’s hope they fix it by the release date of the Steadings.

The Rivendel premium houses are going to be open
tomorrow: https://forums.lotro.com/index.php?threads/rivendell-housing-arrives-on-thursday.26386/#post-240829 . Don't know if the too small decorations & other glitches will be fixed by them. The servers will need to go down to install the patches. They surely will fix them eventually.

Lots of us spent a great deal of time addressing many issues on BR. With screenshots. We reported lots of things. Some stuff got address. Lots of stuff didn't. We tried. Across the 3 Betas, I spent at least 40 hours testing things. It wasn't only people logging on to snoop out of curiosity.

And yes, I 100% agree the scaling on the Lootbox/Rowan Raspberry items is very off. All the interior stuff is hobbit sized and the forge is massive. Which I suppose it is the same size as it is in the actual forge in the market, but that is very big for personal use.

However, there is precedent for resizing things. The Mushroom fireplace we got last year got resized in a later update. I am hopeful the Rivendell housing stuff might get the same treatment.

I was waiting for those new furniture items, given how limited the choices are. I got pretty mad when I saw it's yet another hobbit set with a different name - the beds especially. It's especially outrageous that lootboxes are involved making it a double disappointment.
Totally agree. I paid for keys and got a kitchen worktop side and the box surrounding it is so off you get pushed away from it when walking past and can’t get close to the counter on one side at all.
Then I got a fireplace with chairs that are so squished together there is no way could an elf not sit at it, and it looks so stupid in a large room tucked away in a corner. Did they not even look at the scale or take into consideration the space it fills in a room. A total waste of money, I honestly feel cheated.

I like the art design of the new elf chairs, but once again it seems like SSG devs didn't test actually sitting in the chairs. The seat cushions are very short and almost impossible to sit on. I often end up on top of the chair, or sitting half way through the back of the chair. It's quite disappointing.

The art design is lovely but like you i tried over and over to sit on mine, managed it once but that was as if i was sat on the floor with my feet on the chair it looked very odd. the rest of the time i just ended up sitting on the floor. i cant express how dissapointed i was after spending a small fortune on keys. its just a rip off of the players and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I would like to know who produced this shoddy work, if i was their boss i would sack them and get someone competent to redo them.
i cant believe after 18 years playing this game this is how players are treated.
sorry it makes my blood boil, rant over.

I think that using emotes like /sit or /laydown on
chairs, stools, benches, & beds or hammocks, is one of those tests that the players should do when helping on being at Bullroarer server, to verify that the proportions of new furnitures are correct. Maybe the next time that the devs release house related decos, they should specifically write down asking the players to emote on furniture.

I meant bullroarer isn't only to power level to cap so you
can wear the shinny gear that you can only dream on live servers. Then after the test period is over. Play wack a mole vs the devs balrog at Breetown & fly to the sky. 😉

But yah... The devs should test somehow that the scale
is the correct. Maybe a cheat list that say for each furniture kind: height = A ; wide = B ; length = C
  • For small folks (hobbitses & dwarves) = A x B x C
  • For big folks (humans & elves) = 2A x 2B x2C

We did. At least, I can say with certainty myself and a number of others did. We reported most if not all of issues folks here are complaining about. We also have zero control over whether our reports get addressed. But do feel free to spend time on BR testing these things next time. And you will see. Getting a tree or two removed was easy apparently. Fixing larger issues, less so.

I choose to give the benefit of the doubt to the devs. They definitely did do a lot of work on this. I am disappointed that much of our feedback was not addressed. But stop blaming people who were trying to help for not doing their job... which they don't get paid for. Or any tangible benefit whatsoever. Anyone can do Beta, and it is 100% volunteer.

It's not like those who did beta got first crack at housing or any other kind of perk when it went live. At least, if anyone did, they aren't saying. The only real benefit I got from the time I spent working housing beta was knowing which houses I definitely did or didn't want and seeing the hooks ahead of time so I knew what I'd be getting. Which don't get me wrong, was good information to have, but as a perk is pretty small potatoes.

Likewise, I spent hours systematically testing and reporting on bugs from the elf update over a year ago, most of which went live and most of which are still not fixed. That's not a fault of the beta testers. That's a matter of time and resources given to addressing the issues raised. I suspect that like many of these things, they are complicated to fix and if they aren't terrible, then they are stuck on the pile of To Get To Someday.

Yes, I am still salty about dance_man3.
