"Requires human form"

Beo was substantially reworked but still one has to switch back and forth from bear to man to click a quest item!

Please make all Quest items, Chests, NPCs (Stablemaster, I look at you), ... everything ... also useable in Bear form (or autoswitch to the "correct" form on click)

ps.
And while you at it: the Brutal Maul CD Visual on the skill is still broken when its on CD and you switch form with moving bars activated. There is no visual CD clock then when you switch back to bear form

They already state something like that during beo revamp discussion. Like they can remove some restrictions when they have time to look on them, but don't sure if they ever will be able to remove all of them

Above all, you can collect craft materials on your horse while travelling as a bear, but that's extremely annoying

I can’t explain myself...because I am not myself.
Yes please. Single most annoying thing on my Beorning is the constant changing back and forth (especially while gathering craft materials). I can open a chest, but I can't chop some wood?

Not trying to hijack your thread, but on your broken cooldown comment, I have bug reported this numerous times and have not seen any sort of response here or anywhere else.

This is exactly what bothers many players so much, about interactions that cause us to constantly dismount from our horses. It is extremely annoying and unnecessary. Very inconsistent also, they way they pick some objects/NPCs that you can interact while mounted, but not others. So arbitrary and annoying!

One of the problems they're stuck with is the speed boost being so much better than any other, and right now the only balance is that you can't do everything in bear form. I know roleplay people will complain that "bears couldn't do X with their paws/claws" but putting that aside, just from a gameplay perspective if they removed all restrictions it would just be bears zooming around like cars doing everything much faster than any other class could.

The form switching problem is technical. There are 2 methods used to interact with game assets.

One is easier to change and SSG were able to enable the interaction in Beorning form.

The other? It, like crafting, is buried deeply in the original code. Changing it will be very time consuming. It is (almost) guaranteed to break many of the other parts of the game that rely on the original interaction code.

(This was gleaned from comments by Orion / Onn / Vastin from previous complaints about this.)

( Onn or Orion managed to recently fix the Beorning bug that used only the main hand weapon stats in Beorning form. Now both off hand & main hand stats are combined when using the Beorning form.)

My counter argument to people who complain "but mah roleplay" is "who cares?" If you want to role play, then role play, dont expect the rest of us to cater to your whims.

In big battles you can build, repear, set traps in bear form. In open world you cant pick a comb of honey...

This is probably the single most annoying thing for me when I play a Beorning. Nothing sets my hair on fire then having to constantly change forms to pickup a quest item or grab a resource node of some kind.

But why? Bears don't have opposable thumbs nor do they have human vocal chords. You want to play a shifter, why shouldn't you have to recognize the difference in forms?

Not exactly the best argument as not everything has to be realistic for it to be fun. This is a game after all. The fact that Beorning can't do what all the other classes can do normally is not fun at all. Most people I've spoken to have said this is ONE of the major reason why they don't like playing the class.

Case in point... I can hack a piece of wood on the floor while riding all the way on the top of my horse using an axe and even mine an ore node as a prospector, which is is not very realistic. However on a Beorning, I can't interact with nodes while in bear form at all. In addition lets add some further inconsistencies with the class. For example, on the Beorning I can interact with SOME NPC's while in bear form and others I can't (which makes no sense at all, what can some magically understand bear and others can't?). Not to mention NOT being able to interact with quest objects while in bear form like a bundle of potatoes for a quest, but yet I can pickup random food items from the floor on the landscape?! That makes no sense....

But hey, I can definitely interact with a basket on the floor or pickup water samples from a pond while riding a horse......... totally realistic.

Suffice to say, it doesn't have to be exact to be fun. It's something they said they would review and have made lead way already towards addressing it. Though when that will happen is anyways guess, right now being a Beorning and interacting with stuff is tedious at best and can be frustrating.

It's not a realism issue. It's a technical issue. Maybe they'll be able to sort it out one day. But if not, it really isn't a big deal. I think the problem for most people is where they have their Man Form and Bear Form buttons, and how easy it is for them to use those buttons during play. I have it set up in a way that is very easy to use:

1- There is an option to enable or disable BEORNING SHAPESHIFT BAR SWAP. It is enabled by default. Keep it that way.
2- In Bar 0 (which is the bottom-most horizontal skill bar) put BEAR FORM in the left-most quickslot. I have that bound to the 1 key on my keyboard.
3- In Bar 1 (which is just above Bar 0) put MAN FORM in the left-most quickslot. I have that bound to F1 but it doesn't matter what I have it bound to because I never use that keybind nor do I ever click that button.

Set up like that, if I'm in Man Form, all I need to do to switch to Bear Form is tap the 1 button. And if I'm in Bear Form, all I need to do to switch to Man Form is tap the 1 button. Switch form, no matter what form I'm in? The 1 button. (I also put Slash and Thrash in the same vertical column, because they'll trigger each other's cooldown and will each cause your Beorning to change form if used in the incorrect form; not really pertinent to this discussion but just thought I'd mention it.)

Even if every object interaction is adjusted so that everything can be "used" in Bear Form, you still won't be able to use your mounts or take stable rides in Bear Form. So make it easy on yourself. Besides, in any spec other than heavy Blue you really ought to be switching forms regularly to get the most out of your skills.

Changing form is just another skill. Treating it as if pushing that particular button causes you pain like poor 'ol George as the full moon rises is something I don't understand.
Your character is not a bear; it is a Beorning. Bears are bears all the time; Beornings change form between Man and Bear.

"But I wanna be lazy!" is your reply. Brilliant.

If you have problems acting like a human in bear form, play another class. There are plenty from which to choose.

I really enjoy the beorning class, but I do see it as a more advanced class in that it has the switching mechanic as a vital part of the overall class. I haven't gotten my Beo above 23 yet, but I noticed that already into the 20's, it performs much better when you shift to bear AFTER setting up bleeds etc. The hotbar issue was a bit clunky for me at first, but then I read another post where you talked about setting up the Man/Bear bars, and that helped a lot. Overall, I love the class, aesthetically I would love if I could trim her bear size down some. :p

I do agree though that like mounted gathering with any other race, Beo should be able to gather in travel form.

Let me 1-Up you.

"But I want to respond with a single irrelevant sentence!" Is your reply. Fantastic!

Not everyone shares your opinion, get over it. I gave a response as to why it's unrealistic. News flash I'm not the only one that feels that way and telling others to "play another class" is naïve at best. Especially given your immature hostile response. Welcome to my ignore list.

Actually you make some valid points. There are some technical issues I believe with how the shapeshifting is handled. Which is probably why they said they would look at it some point. If I'm not mistaken the shapeshifting bar is on as default. That's what I use and I follow the same system you use with a skill shift in the first slot. It's not impossible and does get some getting used to. I can see how folks get frustrated with it though.

I will admit though even with that single slot change, it can get tedious at times when going from node to node unless I'm already in Man form. It's not impossible but can be at times frustrating in specific situations, like interacting with quest objects.

Perhaps allowing us to auto shift to human when we interact with an object would be a great idea? Not sure if that was something they ever discussed.
