Since Update 39.1.2 contained a fix for the event, I think it should be up and running by now?!

The Forester Crafting Event originally scheduled for today has been postponed until May 20th. I'll update the calendar (and get the Tier 5 raid in there in the coming days).

I was kind of hoping that they'd repurpose the existing resource instances
somehow for these crafting events but it appears that SSG had other plans
while there are 3 perfectly good resource instances in Moria, Hytbold, Derndingle and a few other places.

First, we are bringing back the Forester Crafting Event starting on Monday, July 15th at 10am Eastern, running until 3am Eastern on July 25th. Second, we're tentatively scheduled the first Hard Tack Crafting Event to begin on August 1st starting at 10am Eastern and running until August 12th at 3am Eastern.

The Forester Crafting Event seems to be bugged.... I take the quest more than 30 minutes ago and the event hasn't started yet (no axes appears on the table)

Waited for the judge to say go for 20+ minutes and then went to do other stuff.

From what I hear in the world chat of Laurelin it is still not working.

I can not know how difficult it is to code such an event, but at what point do you acknowledge this is just not going to work as you imagined it and scrap it altogether for something completely different and less aggravating and frustrating that actually works?
