UPDATE: Mordor is now open! NOTE: Character Copy to Mordor is currently not available. The Eyes and Guard Tavern is available for the preview, and can be found in the Archet jail yard, Thorin's Gate near the stables and in Mossward. We will run our stress test starting at 2pm Eastern on Wednesday, July 3rd.

###

OLDER:

We are currently working toward opening Mordor later today. We are also adjusting our day and time for the stress test to be starting at 2pm Eastern (-4 GMT) on Wednesday, July 3rd.

###

EARLIER: Unfortunately a build issue is preventing us from opening Mordor tonight, and our stress test planned for 3pm Eastern tomorrow is delayed. We will have more info on timing when we can. Mordor could open with a stress test late tomorrow afternoon Eastern.

We are working to open the upcoming Mordor server for a special preview on Monday, July 1st, time to be determined, with a special stress test and wraith event preview on Tuesday. This preview will continue until 3pm Eastern on Wednesday, July 3rd.

Here are the details about Tuesday's event: We would like as many people as possible to try logging into Mordor starting at 3pm Eastern (-4 GMT) on Tuesday, July 2nd to test the capabilities of the European-located server. Starting at 3pm Eastern a member of the LOTRO Team will be on Mordor spawning Ringwraiths as well. This event will continue until 5pm Eastern (-4 GMT).

This test will be accessible through the Bullroarer game client. Players will be able to select and enter Mordor after logging into the Bullroarer game client. Mordor will be accessible to VIPs when it arrives on the live game client, but for this preview the server will be available to access to all account types. We will have a Bullroarer Forum thread on Monday to gather feedback about your experience.

I am really looking forward to playing on a European-located server. Did I get this right that depending on your difficulty settings, you won't encounter the special challenges?

I hope this is true. I hate a character dying even when the penalty is trivial and if a wraith can randomly appear and kill me if I have to step away for 30 seconds for family or doorbell aggro it will be really annoying.

I was wondering if this a stress test, was there ever any thought to maybe testing this on live client? i feel that there would be way more players testing this out for an actual stress test vs Bullroarer client which doesn't see much player traffic, or does that not matter much and you feel you good information needed anyway? :)

Looking forward to this!

Will be able to copy characters over for this test? Or do we need to make a new one?

I am assuming that they are stress testing the 64-bit servers, as well,
since those were also announced in pair with Angmar and Mordor.
So no, they cannot test this on live servers.

Hihi.

"This test will be accessible through the Bullroarer game client."

Will the character we make in BR Mordor be available in the live version of Mordor?

When will the date be announced that Mordor( EU ) and Angmar ( US ) go live?

Obviously the ruleset we see for this test bears no relationship to the final ruleset. Which will not have a cap of 150 or pvmp allowed. So presumably it will give 100% xp earned but that will not mean when the two servers go live they will be at 100%. Soon the details will be announced since they are supposed to go live in July.

The whole point of this test is to stress test the two new 64-bit servers. I assume they are simply using BR as the mechanism to get us to that hardware.

We'll have more information on Monday, but the plan is to have Mordor be up to 150 with PvMP enabled for the test only.
Stress Test should involve charachters who have completed Thousands of entries in the deed log. So that being said a charachter copy ability would lead to better results. No use having " empty " charachters and the client has nothing to transfer between game areas

The wraiths will spawn as world bosses, which means large numbers of players will need to come together to beat them. Some wraiths that spawn less often will be even greater, and will require a player with a special ring to be close by, for a large group of players to defeat it.

That isn't how I read it at all. I read it that the new servers would have a new difficulty system. Instead of having explosions go off now and then, wraiths would appear now and then. Wraiths suitable for the character to fight just as the old explosions were survivable if the player was careful.

At maximum level instead of a regular wraith, now and then one of the Nine would appear. THAT is what no one character could fight and barring a group or raid able to do so, the only way to survive would be to leave the area.

The point that was raised that I was focusing on is whether this system would apply *only* if one elected a high difficulty. That is how it always has worked and how it works now under the current system. Elect normal difficulty or even moderate difficulty and you do not get the explosions. They are only there at the highest difficulty settings. I assumed and hoped that wraiths would work the same way.
