Just bumping this post up so people are reminded about what is happening here on the forums and stay on the topic of using the emoji system to cyberbully. It appears that a new method of changing the topic is being tested here.
I have to admit I'm confused by this thread. Cordovan appears to be talking about the reaction system abuse leading to bullying. Well forum rules make it clear this is a ban. If a person gets spammed by reactions they should be able to report it. If it's really an excess (like several have expressed) then a ban is expected.
Otherwise the thread constantly refers to emoji. So you can
react with :ROFLMAO: but it
apparently has a negative scoring. You can also use an emoji :ROFLMAO: which, not coincidentally, can be offensive depending on context used. Now I'm sure Cordovan said earlier no one will be banned for using an emoji, but you can be banned for abusing the reaction. It appears the forum rules need to be clarified. Constructive communication is expected on these forums, and this extends to the reaction system (and also posts where the only contribution is a single rofl emoji?).
As for what can additionally be done ? That depends on how the devs use the reaction system. The reaction system should primarily be useful to the devs, not the forum members. If the devs aren't going to use the metrics provided by the reaction system then it should be removed. On the other hand the reaction system can be useful, provided abuse results in ban. For instance it's easy to associate relevancy of a reaction with both a poster's reputation, and the context of the receiver's message. No matter how high your reaction score may be, it's subject to modification by analyzing how you post and what you post. This really depends on if the devs actually use these metrics. If reactions are merely a source of drama, well we know they'll be gone soon.
