Is anyone else bothered by the part of the Homestead Steed's tack that looks like it's fastened directly to the horse's rump?
On draught horse tack, that piece is usually connected to hip straps, and a more ornate version can be seen supporting hip straps on the Homestead draught horse cosmetic pets. On the mount version, however, while the hip straps are nowhere to be seen, the leather piece meant to connect the hip straps to the rest of the gear has not been removed, giving the unfortunate appearance of its being fastened directly to the horse's rump with four silver rivets.
I've tried to imagine that the rivets are holding layers of leather together instead of fastening them to the horse, but the way the piece of leather has been made to look, specifically the way it lies firmly against the horse without any lifting up and the way it appears to be pinched in the middle and spread out taut at the edges where the rivets are located, makes it really difficult to ignore. Obviously, the artists would not have created a piece of leather riveted to a horse. It probably supported hip straps that were removed at some point in the design process. Regardless, it would be greatly appreciated if my characters didn't seem to be participating in some strange form of animal cruelty whenever they ride the Homestead Steed.
