Hello all

This *is* the other place.
No threads in this forum so I couldn't resist since Sting will be my only server now - all old characters deleted or moved.

On the old forums I was the first to post in the Legendary Server forums back when they were new - got a forum title for it. So I *really* could not resist here.

I just came over from Glamdring last night, all 37 of my toons literally took no more than five minutes. I was impressed.

I’m happier here than Glamdring for some reason, cannot figure out why.

World chat is friendly. I'm usually not a WC person. I was curious.

It was nice to see some lively banter and helpful advice being thrown around.

Non-anonymous late EST (11:00 pm) is around 126 online. Sting population still growing at a slow and steady pace. So far, I am content here, after pulling all of my main characters from Glamdring's over-population.

I kept some remaining toons on my 32-bit server, as another home away from home, until the devs shut down those worlds. When the time comes, I will transfer those toons to Sting as well.

Since all of the 14 prior years were on Evernight, all of Glamdring's seven characters are now on Sting. Seven. No infrastructure, no assets. Like starting over. So much stuff on Evernight (still) and on Grond. Don't play there though.

Very nice environment on Sting.

Though I understand there are already some glitches. I’ve heard talk of a little black spot on the sun today.
Eh, no big deal. It was the same old thing as yesterday.

I just moved a toon to scope out the server. Sounds like there's a music concert going on up in Evendim - lots of people reported!
We had a wonderful time! 37 people came up to the Blue Lady's grotto.

Huge thanks to Kaossan, who presented a wonderful lore story based on a scene from the Silmarillion, and Dylsexia, who shot video of the concert and put together this incredible gif. A video feature will be forthcoming! 🤩

I logged into Sting shortly after it went live, said a hello in world, and received a /tell from someone asking how I got to level 23 so fast. I replied I'd transferred from Treebeard. He was a returning player starting fresh and was unaware of the transfers, so I'm hoping that's a good sign that Sting will have many new and returning players.

Hmm, that's always a matter of perspective. Make a lvl 1 server scout and spy on world chat and server population at the times you would normally be playing.
It's not really up to perspective when someone can easily give examples as Thurthorad did above.

And like I said my question was out of simple curiosity as I have no plans to move given that I am still dealing with the fallout from the last transfers. I was just hoping that the server had signs of life for those who were wanting to move.

The Sting on Sting concert was amazing. The round robin afterparty outside the Pony was fun.

I had a great time at these celebrations of the new server, and I hope people will want the Sting on Sting concert to be a yearly event.

We moved our band over from Gladden to play the Sting on Sting concert, and we left them in the Blue Lady's grotto after our final practice on Gladden, ready to transfer. When Rheniogil arrived on Sting, just minutes after the server was opened for transfers, he tells me that he found a lone fiddler in the Blue Lady's grotto, already arrived, and already playing music for the Blue Lady.
I can't think of a nicer omen for the new server than this. 🍀 🎻

I've created two characters on Sting, a Minstrel and a Rune keeper, both focused on healing instead of DPS, both River Hobbits in Mossward, with complementary crafting skills. I'll be creating another River Hobbit in Mossward today, a Guardian, with a focus on tanking and completing the crafting skill sets for a robust "community". I'll still be playing all 36 of my characters on Glamdring (I cycle through them so they don't level too fast), but these new River Hobbits will be leveled in tandem with an interest in not hurrying in the least.
EDIT: Added a tank and a burglar.

Hello everyone! Moving to Sting was a no brainer for me. Most of the "'old guard veterans"' have already established themselves on Peregrin and Glamdring. Nothing against them, but I think this will be a server to bring in a new generation of players. with a very fresh and relaxed atmosphere. Happy hunting!

I have nothing against old guard veterans - not after being here since release with a few breaks. But I do hope for a more relaxed atmosphere. Today I used all my names and deleted all the placeholders and have a full stable all set - one of each class. Four are maxed out though I am tempted to make this a fresh start server in terms of my levels and change them to level 1.

One big difference between Sting and Glamdring, on the full-up server, it was easy to secure a few bits from the AH to complete a craft level.

On Sting, I am the AH. At least so far. Typically post craft items relatively cheap, but now kind guesswork as nothing is posted.
