Of course you can. Disagreements are always going to be on the table with such an iconic piece of literature.
Yep. It's the classic "glass half-full" versus "half-empty" perspective-shift.
I was taken aback by the Orcs in the Shield Isles, but I pretty much pretend they're not there. I can do that also. I much prefer "the glass half-full," and I often find it fuller than expected. To me, "the half-empty" approach just keeps-on yielding headaches. I look for the points where places like Umbar - do - reflect what we know from the lore, and then, at that point, the other aspects don't outweigh much else that I see.

For those saying that it's not LOTR's story--- well, yes, it's true that Sam, despite his rather lengthy "Oliphaunt" song, never goes to Harad---- I'll also say this much:
You've got it already, aside from Emyn Muil and the map-contiguity messes between Amon Hen and the Wastes, and of course, aside from Mithlond and the Tower Hills and "the Shire during the Scouring." But that's pretty much it. That's all you have to look forward to.
As for the rest of us, thank goodness there's a ton more left to explore to keep the game going.
Cheers!
