Character Transfer Status

@Cordovan, do you have any news for the players who lost the contents of their wallets in the unplanned downtimes of the 64-bit servers?

As we lost all account-wide currencies (and everything besides gold on the char last played), we also lost our Mithril Coins (in my case about 1200).
https://forums.lotro.com/index.php?threads/wallet-lost-most-currencies.17564/

I would like to have my Mithril back before the housing land rush (as well as the rest of my wallet).
Same here - yesterday my wallet was full, today (after the "crash") my wallet is empty... no mnithril, no shared currencies and this is much after 15 years...

We will not be turning the transfer service on today, among other reasons we want to to through another peak demand period both EU and US side without transfers.

Regarding escrow reports, we are aware of these reports and we will make sure people get their stuff. A lot of these reports are likely to resolve once housing opens, and whatever is left we will have to deal with.
Thanks for the update.

The one character I have stuck on Landroval, everything in her house is gone, presumably transferred, but she hasn't been able to make it across the ether to Peregrin. Hopefully it doesn't get swept out by a server restart data cleanup in the meantime.

Good news. The remainder of my characters (and those of my kin) have finally completed the transfer process. Some initially failed, and took nearly a week of retries; this last bunch processed rather quickly, in less than 24 hours. One old character went alone, without 'shared storage' but got it back automatically when the others arrived. Everything seems to be accounted for. Only lost one character name. No tears, moving on. Actually, I like the new name better!

Not the best news to them, who's shared storage/ shared valet and wardrobe didn't make the transfer.

Is it normal that since we are on Orcrist that we have to wait every day in the evening about 30-40 minute until it is our turn. I am 490 in the waiting line and it takes forever until i can log in - not very nice wasting almost one hour in order to play.

Login Queue is simply that Orcrist has the maximum amount that can be on at one time. For someone in the Login Queue to get in requires someone to leave the server. Next person can get in.

So it is normal & expected granted most LOTRO Players haven't been used to a Login Queue for many years and plenty have never once experienced such until here in March 2025.

The SSG LOTRO Team, at least as of this post, have not announced anything about what they may or may not do about Orcrist specifically due to the higher numbers being seen & Login Queues occurring since March 15th, 2025.

They should have known this beforehand - before the invited all the players from Gwaihir to change to the new servers. We really thought things are going better but it is getting worse and worse. So if they are inviting players to those new 64k servers we thought everything is balanced. I never had this problems in the last 20 years or so i played that game - very annoying.

They underestimated a lot of things and overestimated a few things. They are working on it as fast as they can to adjust to the reality we are all seeing here in March 2025.

It is not normal. It may be happening every European evening, but I wouldn't call it normal.

If you logged those characters in BEFORE you logged in the Kin Leader toon, you will have to manually invite them. If you logged the Kin Leader toon first, all others should automatically be placed in the kin when they are logged in.
I logged my kin leader in first as per instruction. Apparently the characters transferred alphabetically Ae-Fa. My next character in line was kin leader whose name is Fhiona. So, even though I logged in in first, only she and the rest of the alphabetical order are in kin

Same for me, i'm vip player and at this moment i'm 755 in queue... maybe i misunderstood the initial announcements, but i thought that the switch to 64 bit servers would also significantly increase the maximum number of players that could enter at the same time. Is it possible at this point to hypothesize the creation of a NEW 64 bit server for each hemisphere (eu and na)?

We still have additional transfers, we expect there are plenty of people who have been waiting until things clear out to do their work. We'll have more information on transfers when we can.
I don't want to create further problems in this delicate phase, but I think that when the possibility of purchasing houses is opened, I think it might be desirable to limit purchases in some way, perhaps initially only for VIPs, or 2/3 houses per player (edit: of course only at the beginning, waiting for the chaos regarding house purchases to calm down)

They seem to have several bleeding wounds.

1. players reported missing wallet currencies
2. players reported missing decorations
3. Servers with login queues.

I don't see how it would be responsible to reopen transfers w/o addressing them.
They said they were trying to optimize things, but if #3 is a fundamental limitation of their systems, more transfers won't make it go away.

Future problems.
4. what performance hits will be caused by opening housing? In peak times on the 32bit worlds, neighborhoods fail to load.

So interesting to watch all of this.

Edit: and I forgot, the duplicated ghost/phantom characters that are being reported, that are taking character names.

At this time I am not sure on the timing of reopening character transfers, but as soon as we know we will let you know.

The plan remains to stabilize the new game worlds, do the work we've been doing to add various resources, then reopen transfers. Once most folks have transferred that intended to prior to housing opening, we will open housing.

We are aware of the wallet issue and are currently working with CS on a plan to get them what they need to address the tickets. Sorry for the delay.

i finally made it into the game after waiting 38 minutes. Then i went into the new raid UB, it was extreme laggy, we tried 2 times but not even managed to get past the first boss, standstill for at least 15 seconds. This game is unplayable right now. Btw i am VIP too, seems like they dont make any difference if you are vip player or not. They should fix that quick otherwise many many people will loose interest and leaving that game.

Having a 2nd Non-RP Server likely would have ensured no Login Queue. It's mostly people not wanting to be on Meriadoc (EU-RP) is why Orcrist is overcrowded.

Too late for that. Creating another server as a panic response is exactly what happened with Ithilien when Anor had massive login queues. Didn't take long for that server to become a ghost down & close down early.

No, the solution is that SSG needs to scale the underlying infrastructure & other resources for that server to support the player numbers. Otherwise it will be a disaster if they can't. A login queue is nothing when compared to lag & crashes.

That being said, it's rather nice to log onto Meriadoc with 400+ players and no queue.

That was VIP-only Servers though. We're talking about Regular & always going to be around Servers. Always will have more numbers and more people potentially available to play.

Honestly I am at the point that I believe that Standing Stone Games & the SSG LOTRO Team alongside of X amount of Players are traumatized by what occurred with Anor & Ithil and why certain decisions occurred how they did since.

That's not how an MMORPG or any Game should operate based on a 1 time failure. It's not what's going to ensure growth and seeing the game keep going. Just more stagnation, missed opportunities, and lots of "What Ifs".
