Hello team! first of all congratulations, the forum is just beautiful! ?

I wanted to know if the bombadil server (competitive server pvp hero against hero in total open world) will come back one day or not... This project is no longer mentioned anywhere and Orion is investing a lot in the PVMP, do you think that this server will come back one day? ?

I would love this! I lost my cloak and would like to try for other goodies as well!

Bombadil was opened in 2020 only for VIPs. However, I thought this server was much older. Maybe it will come back one day, but I don't think so. For example, in 2013, the Bounder's Bounty event was held. I've never seen anything like this again. The names of the first 50 people from each server are still written there, even years later.

there were a few things to modify on this competitive server but it had a huge impact! when I tell players that this server really existed, many are frustrated and would be ready to take out a subscription (or take one back) to participate in this kind of rather exclusive pvp.

I would have liked to have a more or less definitive answer on this subject. Knowing whether or not he will come back ^^ (I insist too much on this subject but, having made us taste a pvp worthy of Wow classic on the "wild" side, it left me with a really incredible memory of the game)

From what I remember it didn't end up being about PvP anyway.
Progression was from completing deeds, so PvE.

In that format I am indifferent to it returning, a much better option would be to make progression based on a faction system with wins adding to a PvP rank. For real fun make it race vs race, although Beornings would kick our butts :)

An army of angry hobbits sounds like fun.

We took the kin, made a server version and defended the Comb and Wattle to the death, sometimes without actual death and successful defence. That was fun as long as you didn't take it too serioulsy.

Unfortinatley some folk, as always happens with PvP, decided that their fun was only really available to them using a win at all costs approach which rather killed the on level group combat fun for us.

The Bombadil server could theoretically come back in the future at some point, but it was not intended to be a recurring feature.
I hope the team will consider it. It's one of the things I'm saddest about missing out on.

I think there is a better approach.
We all know that even the Ettenmoor is larger than required for good pvp and so it would be much better if Bombadil was brought back with weekly area changes. Small captive areas from the map that allows good pvp...

However, the issue with this is the following:

They cannot even make the one "real" area we have had for the entirety of the game a place for good pvp with little chance for cheats to prosper... As much as I would like to pvp in all the zones of Lotro like Moria and Mirkwood etc.

It just isn't feasible with the resource they have available... it would just be a massive cheaters paradise.

maybe they could expand one region every year but keep it tight and remember that PVP is PVP and not a PVE zone with a little PVP in between !!

Osgilliath is a far smaller PvMP area that always seems to be empty.

But see my comments on PvP earlier, there are always folk whose sole idea of fun is crushing those who could not hope to oppose them and laughing about it. Mark you, arguably that's the Lore...see Morgoth...but it makes for a veru poor game experience for a large number. Given the number of PvE elelemnts that have been borked, nerfed or simply removed because of allegedly undersireable effects in PvP keeping the two as separate as possible seems a sensible option. But I do miss defending that pub, where the barman would still sell drinks while there was fighting outside:)

please do Bombadil 2!
It was some of the most fun I've had playing through the base game. Never before had lotro attempted something like that and it worked so well!
It was a wild west where at any moment you could get into an interesting situation. Huge fights over quest areas and resource points was memorable and even to this day I recount the battle of Asdo's camp and the massacre at the Barrows. Even the war in Annuminas which was pretty much organized by players. It was unique and I can only look back on it fondly.
Even beyond the novelty of open world pvp, it was a lot of fun engaging with the enemy and forming pokemon like rivalries as you come across someone you recognize as you both level. You could call upon your own side to back you up if you needed and it was straight up some of the most chaotic and raw fun I've had in lotro.

Bombadil was released at a time where not a lot was going on in lotro if I can remember. It was an ideal event for keeping the game busy and fun to play in between significant content updates. Ideally if it was to be released again, it'll seriously hold player retention just for the novelty of it returning. I get that it was never intended to be recurring, but the infrastructure is there, the mechanics are there. It would be much simpler to just release it on seldom occasions for like a month just for the sake of it. It would absolutely compel me to buy VIP if it was released again. It doesn't even need to be too balanced, just throw it out there for a month or so and give people a chance to experience the server again.
Few stuck around to complete every deed at the end, but what does it matter? The enjoyment for me was in the experience, not the rewards. Give us another chance to sharpen our blades on each other in the name of their favourite twin brother!
Elrohir gang for life!

With pvp comes nerfs because people WILL complain about something....
best way to counter this is only change things through scripts for Bombadil only.
A few changes like this were done this way. The changes that affected the rest of the game were not solely as a result of feedback on Bombadil
