I have to admit that I have not encountered a sleeping Balrog.

I would imagine that if it was asleep and snoring, that it would be as loud as an erupting volcano!

I cannot say one way or the other, I've never run across a Balrog, sleeping or not. I conjecture that if they did snore, it'd probably terrifyingly loud.

Balrogs have huge nostrils. So if they do sleep (from time to time) and do snore, then it will not be as loud as a normal person. More delicate.

The Balrog does snore, we can hear the snore on the movie. That is because of one little secret : the Balrog isn't 'the evil that never sleeps', but the evil that is sleepwalking. Thus, when it goes after the Fellowship, it think s it is dreaming, chasing some critters probably, and we can hear it snore with every breathe. Also, that roar while Gandalf was on the flimsy rock bridge was him trying to clear his nostrils and throat of dried and burnt snot that accumulated there, all the dirt in his living space combined with it's flames don't make it easy to keep your airways clean...

Yes they snore & very loud. There is 1 quest at Moria about it & was loud enough to call the attention of the closest explorers, enough to concern them & send me to take care of it. Grawulun the Caerog is found in the deepest part of the cave Buzun-ghâr [4.3S, 108.6W] in Durin's Way:

Balrogs don't snore. If they did snore, the Dwarves of Moria would have found the Balrog much sooner from the vibrations and possibly earthquakes.
