It's not the mushrooms that are special, it's Farmer Maggot's secret blend of eleven herbs and spices.

They are bred with a type of pipe-weed which makes you high, and you see different colours of mushrooms. You can become high from not just eating a mushroom, but inhaling the aroma that comes with this weed.

There is no explaining Farmer Maggot's shrooms. You either get em, or your don't.

Not sure, but I tried one (for science) and earth got mad at me and has broken all ties with me. I've tied myself to this tree so I won't fall into the sky and get swallowed by the sun.

Special? One made me faint earlier! I'm beginning to think the Gaffer was right about those strange folk from the Marish.

Speaking of inter-farthing distrust, was anyone else surprised to see Maggot actually set up a mushroom tent in Bywater? Did Peregrin and Samwise soften Ol' Maggot's stance on hobbits from those parts?
