    Bullroarer Update 24 - Preview #2 - Release Notes

    Bullroarer has been updated to build 2400.0061.3114.1982.

    Bullroarer will be available until Thursday 5:00pm EST (5/16). Time is subject to change!

    Update 24 brings you to the Vales of Anduin, where the Great River courses down through Wilderland to the shores of Lothlórien. Help the Woodmen defend their lands from the goblins and wargs of the Misty Mountains. Delve into the region’s fabled past, when it was home to Dwarves, Elves, and the ancestors of the hobbits and Rohirrim. Seek the aid of the Beornings and Great Eagles – as well as a certain Brown Wizard of some repute. But beware: foul things still roam the woods and marshes, some drawn by the legacy of the One Ring, which lay long hidden near the Anduin’s banks. Update 24 is Free to VIP players and Lifetime Subscribers, and available in the LOTRO Store.

    Today's Bullroarer preview includes the 64-Bit game client we are working on. You can choose which client you wish to run in the launcher settings.
    NOTE: The 64-bit client uses a separate file to keep client settings between the 32 and 64 bit versions separated. These include graphics settings, sound settings, some UI settings, some input settings (but not your keymap settings), and vocie chat settings. This file is called UserPreferences64.ini. Also please note, LUA is not currently supported/working with the 64 bit client. It’s something we intend to support, but it will not be ready for U24.

    The Virtue system revamp continues and is still a work in progress, please see changes in the notes below.

      - Self-Adulation bonus to Clever Retort healing increased [20->25%].
      - Self-Adulation no longer incorrectly states that it provides a pulse bonus to Mischievous Glee (which isn't a HoT).
    • Virtues: The virtue system now advances through virtue experience, allowing you to select the virtue that will benefit from your deed completions. Open the Traits panel (J) and navigate to the redesigned Virtues tab to examine your virtues, select an earning virtue, and slot the virtues you would like active.
      - Upon logging in a character copied from live, your existing virtues will version into the new virtue system.
      - All virtues now offer an additional passive bonus, allowing you to benefit from your earned virtues even when that virtue is not actively slotted.
      - Virtues have been rebalanced to offer more relevant stats and to offer some offensive options.
      - A new virtue, Wit, has been added to the game.
      - Deeds that previously awarded specific virtue ranks now award virtue xp. This virtue experience will be directed to your ‘earning’ virtue. If you do not have an earning virtue or that virtue has reached its maximum rank, then virtue experience will be funneled to your first active virtue that can accept additional experience.
      - Eyes & Guard Tavern: Temerity in the tavern currently offers a single Virtue Rank-up quest. This quest will award a large chunk of virtue xp. If you are trying to rank up a specific virtue, make sure to select that virtue as your ‘earning’ virtue before completing the quest.

    Known Issue:
    • Please note that passive bonuses from virtues are currently using placeholder values.

    I don´t know what it is but with Beta 1 was all ok

    Woohoo!!! PvP has just received the biggest overhaul in the last 13 years . Will be alot of happy PvP players. Please think about doubling the birds morale to increase creeps output damage.

    I don't think this is accurate anymore...

    I am running the 64-bit client and my plugins loaded up and are working.

    The Virtue Update looks nice, but arent we supposed to have 7 slots instead of 5?

    The Wine client download isn't working for me. Anyone else?

    Also, I noticed when trying to select the 64-bit client in the launcher options, it doesn't actually select anything. The rest of the options are like this, too. If I click any of the radio buttons or checkboxes, they just blink but they don't actually select anything.

    Edit: Never mind, I didn't see that the 64-bit client isn't being supported on Mac in U24.

    Please note that passive bonuses from virtues are currently using placeholder values.
    What I'd really like to see from these passives are stat slices that can overcap ratings, to make the grind useful and take your character just that little bit above and beyond the limits.
    Things like
    +1% tact mitigation
    +1% phys mitigation
    +1% crit rating
    +10% resistance rating
    -10% power cost
    -1% incoming damage
    +1% morale
    +2% crit def
    +2% incoming healing
    +1% damage and outgoing healing
    etc

    Also, while I like many of the new stat changes, the numbers seem a little underwhelming for Lv120, especially with the grind involved for virtues. Considering the stat bloat on a potential new level cap in the future, I fear they may become completely obsolete whenever we go past Lv120. Which is another reason for perhaps % based bonuses.

    just to lets others know plugins seem to be working well with 64bit client which is nice, the notes still say it won't support (assuming copy/paste of old thread) but it does work. they must have figured it out.

    only active virtues should provide bonusses, like they always did. A rework of the bonusses that they provide is welcome however.

    More if they set the passive active you would take all on max around + 500 morale and + 500 mastery per not active virtue is a big buff.

    I agree this system is an insane grind. I would prefer they stay at the current system and add 1 or 2 ranks per virstue which douple the stats.
    But if they stay at this system there need to be a few changes to reduce the grind.
    1. add the 1k exp to all virtues not just the one selected.
    2. increase the amount of exp per deed i would say 3k.
    3. half the number of targets to slay per deed.
    4. set all maxed virtues to max rang again the other with the same percentage rank e.g. now 7/21 should end at 20/60 not less as on the beta.

    that you change senseless stats as ocmr/ocpr to somethnig useful is good.
    But bad is to change some virtues as zeal in their basics this forces players to grind a new one to max.

    Edit: 5. Let´s the virtues level with killing foes/complete quest as the LIs do. (5 exp for a grren,10 for a light blue, 15 for a blue 20 for a white and so on. Quest will give 100 exp. and again to all not just the one selected.

    I like most of the redistribution of stats on Virtues, especially the addition of offensive options. I also like the passive buffs, especially for main characters that have collected or maxed most/all virtues. So long as the numbers are kept roughly in their current ranges, they don't become "essential" to grind, but are a nice bonus for those who want them. The biggest plus is being able to level up these virtues with xp instead of having to go and do specific, possibly tedious, deeds.

    Whilst I herald a change to the current outdated virtue system, and appreciate SSG's effort on taking the time and effort to revamp this old system, I am extremely concerned about the new system.

    My main two concerns ARE;

    A)

    It is my view that, the system you are currently using to carry over virtue ranks on live servers to the new beta system is extremely bad. It should not be the case that people who have capped virtues on the live servers under the current system DO NOT have capped virtues under the new system. In my opinion anything that is currently rank 20 or above on the live server should translate to rank 60 in the new system. I have rank 34 zeal on live and that translates to only rank 58 under the bullroarer system. You cannot be serious about going forward with this system in this state.

    Think about how you are wanting to approach the Imbued Legendary Item system, whereby you do not want to rob people of the hard work they have put in over the years - please apply the same principal here. People have put a lot of time, effort and in some cases money or lotro points into maxing their virtues on live, that should be respected and translated into the new bullroarer system.

    OR you need to introduce new ways for people to gain 'virtue XP' and fast; and not restrict virtue XP quests to primarily festivals - I haven't had a chance to play through the new vales of anduin area yet, but why not make it so that every quest from this point forward rewards 'virtue xp' even if its only something like 20-30 xp. Less than what deeds reward but still significant to make an impact on this potentially grindy system. This also immediately gives people an incentive to do quest content!

    Please consider this going forward.

    B)

    My second concern is the longevity of the system. Do you simply plan to add more virtue ranks upon each level cap increase? Or will the virtue rank forever more be 60? If so, how will the virtues scale over time? Would it not be more prudent to switch to a % based system which would allow for longevity and work better as we level up? Rather than having to continuously re-scale the virtues?

    And of course, I don't want virtues to reward stupid amounts of % before people start jumping on that bandwagon. But as a hypothetical at rank 60 zeal could reward +1.5% max morale? and as a passive +0.1%? Rather than a raw value.

    --

    On the flip side, I really appreciate the change to add more relevant stats into the virtues, like incoming healing, critical rating, finesse, mastery, and crit defence it is great to see more relevant character stats included. However I noticed that Patience specifically seems to be a bit of a dud virtue? Rewarding little power, fate and vitality did someone forget a few digits here or is this really all this virtue will amount to?

    Also on a side note, are there any plans to look at outdated racial traits such as the man heal etc.?

    Looks like some do and some don't. TitanBar isn't loading for me but BuffBars, Travel Window, MoorMap, Mouse Finder and HugeBag are.

    Is it possible if we could have a little longer to test this build? People work and only having 4 or so hours last night, and if this ends today at 5 pm today would mean no testing at all for us workers, is just not enough time.

    I like the setup, it sorts very nicely and I can add info into the name without the game believing that the screenshot is gone and sorting the next one in the old screenshot's place because it has a changed name. This should work perfectly

    Only thing is that the file name is a lot longer which can give problems for me who organize my screenshots in quite deep folders. I have hundreds of gigs of screenshots so I can't keep them in just a few folders And I often need to add quite a long description to the file name.
    I would very much appreciate if you would remove the word "Screenshot" from the file name, it's not really needed and it would shorten the name quite a bit

    TitanBar works perfectly fine for me.

    The only one I have a problem with currently is WeaponAssist. But I probably just need to delete the PluginData for it.

    I was afraid that this new virtue system would not correctly work with such items as aria of the Valar. I can now report after testing that this is indeed the case. The 12 of each virtue does not happen at all. Instead, only one of the virtues is leveled to rank 20. This needs to be fixed before release. Also, why is level 20 of the virtues of the new system significantly less than the current level 20? If there is new scaling aria should give 30 ranks of each virtue for the same stats that it would give now.

    SequenceBars gives an error, and some features won't work. This is a new bug that appears in both the 32-bit and 64-bit Bullroarer clients. (If anyone found a plugin that works in 32-bit but not 64-bit, I'd like to know so I can test it.)

    The problem seems to be that the player equipment object isn't available (the GetSize method is nil):
    Code:
    player = Turbine.Gameplay.LocalPlayer:G etInstance();
    equipment = player:GetEquipment();
    size = equipment:GetSize();

    Result:
    attempt to call method 'GetSize' (a nil value)

    Reported as bug #88114.

    32-bit client:

    I'm using the Baruk plugin (lets you add more skill bars) and in Beta #1 it was all emptied. This time however all my Baruk skill bars were removed and emptied EXCEPT one of them. And half the skills were removed from it (the emote shortcuts but not the teleports).
