Update: No crashes since those above, but still a lot of hitching in Bree-town. The "chain" in game that shows latency and whatnow has a lower number for latency in Bree than it had before the server move, and loss is still 0% like it was before. No lag now and no lag before the move.

I have found the thing You requested but I have like 9 with same name in there. All text files called LotroLauncher to LotreoLauncher9

However as Castorix pointed out the crash I get reffers to "turbineclinetlauncher", not "TurbineLauncher".

I just checked my Taskmanager as I start LoTRO. First it loads a process called:

    • TurbineLauncher.exe

I then fill in accountname and password, get to chose server and then it stops running the process TurbineLauncher and starts the process called:

    • turbineclientlauncher

Then as I get in-game it starts the process called:
    • lotroclient.exe

The thing is as game is running if i get that far and can run around in-game the turbinelauncher.exe keeps running. NOT just lotroclient.exe.

Why does the launcher keep running when game is already launched ??? It is that "turbineclientlauncher" that stops working correctly and cause the crash. At least according to the Windows error window that pops-up.

So why does that "turbineclientlancher" try to launch something after I'm alreay in the game running around and then crash ???

Maybe that is normal and how it should be that both "lotroclient.exe" and "turbineclientlauncher.exe " both runs when game is running ???

Anyway here is the log You requested from one of those Launcher text files.

I can't post them all, as there is alot of text in all of them. And not even sure this helps You to find a problem as it's the "turbineclientlauncher" that seems to crash me out from the game.

That Smilie in there is supposed to be ": o" without the brackets and the space inbetween but it turns into a smilie.

What are all those GoDaddy.com inc, Sonera, Thawte inc, Baltimore, Swisscom etc ??? I tried Google some and they seem to be mostly advertisings. Some for web-hotels and such. Why do i get all of those and how are they related to LoTRO andd end up in The launcher Log ??? I dislike advertising and have not chosen any of these companies anywhere to my knowledge.

Those are certificate authorities, used to validate certificates (ie. SSL connection certificates). So nothing to do with ads

As to the logfile, it is normal and nothing unusual that i can see in there - unfort. not helpful

Oh well, worth a shot anyway.

Have You seen this other thread:

    CTD like crazy TODAY

Seems to describe similar thing today. Crashing as if memory gets full. Yuffie67 even describes how he had lowered settings to get it to work (just like I had before to get tit to work) and it has until today for him/her as well, then suddenly it is as if that is not even enough and memory fills and crashes client today.

So what is different today from yesterday when it worked for both me and Yuffie67 ??? I have had no updates or anything doen. Nothing altered on PC from yesterday or whole week.

Wouldn´t surprise me if the memory leak problem is back. Be interesting to know if these people have a 32bit OS or 64bit OS and how much RAM they have installed. Furthermore, how much RAM LotRO was using while playing and before the crashes.
I know i run a high-end system with 64bit OS and 64GB RAM, so memory leak is usually not a problem. But since the pathetic old client is also only a 32bit application, the memory leak could generally be an issue.

That makes sense. When I try a normal ping (4 packets), the whole thing times out. Now, I'm not a techie, but if LOTRO won't even respond to something as simple as a ping... how in the world does game communication make it through?

Interestingly, there has been no official mention of moving the DDO servers either on their forums or in the last producers letter.

"but I wish LOTRO would move there." - Yeah it was there but someone had another bright idea that no one questioned
Hm, somehow I'd thought DDO had already moved, but I guess it musta been AC I was thinking of. DDO had a merger, AC had the mover.

So, I totally like the mergers and the increased populations on individual servers (rather than super full servers, super empty servers, and halfway-betweeners), but not really seeing the server stability improvements. It's been a month now. A very busy month for me (new full-time job, with full-time school starting back up). But I am surprised at the condition. I mean, I wasn't expecting a miracle, but no scenario I thought up included performance getting even worse and staying that way. I hope AC's condition isn't indicative what the coming months will be.

But, frankly... the most discouraging part of this is what I'm getting told in my tech support ticket. Enable port forwarding, on a system that is already set up to accept any and all incoming communication so long as I initiate contact. When I initiate contact by starting the launcher, everything LOTRO wants to do in responding is automatically set up to be allowed in. My network is not exactly Fort Knox. And 100 ports are a LOT to just open right up.

The only question I can ask is... why couldn't the new hardware simply have been set up in Boston? :/ What's so great about moving it to NJ anyway?

Answering to a ping is completely optional. You can configure your device to either answer them or to ignore them. It is not uncommon that you simple ignore pings, which gls.lotro.com seems to do. If you get a response on a ping, you know that you can communicate with the target. If you do not get a response, it does not necessarily mean that you can't.

Not sure if it's the exact same crash as it only says "Turbinelaunchererror" not "turbineclientlauncher" but that could just be that they are not 100% specific in that thread. It could of course be a crash of the "TurbineLauncher" instead and not the exact same problem.

Hops 1 and 2 are my ISP (with a complex history of mergers, hence the xnet.hr and globalnet.hr domains).
Hop 3 is a Level 3 Communications server in Zagreb.
Curiously, it then hops directly to New York! Last year when SWTOR had connection issues, my route went from Zagreb via Frankfurt and Manchester to NYC.
From NYC it goes to Newark and then apparently to St. Louis, Missouri followed by Wichita, Kansas, where the trace is lost.
The last two geolocations are uncertain and it's quite possible the servers are actually in New Jersey.

Yes, it is normal. It is not supposed to crash though ;) Don't get too hung up on what the filename happens to be. One thing I know for sure that turbineclientlauncher.exe does is that it uploads crashreports in the background while you play. If you kill it manually, lotroclient.exe will shut down as well.
That makes me think... Perhaps these particular crashes has something to do with the upload-process? Maybe worth a try to remove everything in "%localappdata%\The Lord of the Rings Online" and see if it makes any difference. (Enter the path in Run or the address-field in File Explorer)

This might not be very useful as it's not really a real-world scenario, but I have ran 5 clients on my 7-8 years old laptop for a couple of nights for science.
Specs: Windows 10 32-bit, 2GB RAM, Integrated Intel GPU 256MB, Dual Core Intel CPU @ 1.60GHz.
Running on Very Low DirectX9 with 10-15 persons around in Bree-land, moving around each character a bit now and then.
The lag is sooo bad (and to be expected), but not a single crash. So if 32-bit has some own issues, it's definitely not entirely broken.

Also, I don't think it matters too much "crash-wise" how much RAM you have. For performance, yes, but when the RAM gets full Windows starts to use a file on the disk as RAM. And when that gets full, Windows will tell you before it starts shutting down programs to free up RAM. It's possible that it crashes when the client uses around x amount of RAM, but unless you fiddled with pagefile settings and ignore Windows' warnings, it should not crash because you simply run out of RAM.
That said, it is good to include as much information as possible to see if there is a pattern.

    Regards.

It occurred to me today that people in this thread are being unbelievably cordial and are showing way more respect as customers than Turbine has as a vendor. Turbine are simply treating their customers like trash. So here's a big F you Turbine, I will never give you another dollar as long as I live.

(I am reposting 'cause...here is better place. SSHHH anyway an infraction is better than retyping. edit: as it is I had to fix multiple typos in both posts....sigh)

From trawling the forums and using my basic English comprehension skills here is the list of suspects so far

    It is related to
    a) the area in game: it gets worse the later the expansion. It started with Great River. By 17 it was an unmitigated disaster. South Gate is an unplayable mess. As are the moors. Many suspect the great river memory leak is back.
    b) number of players, grouped or not, and number of buffs/debuffs and the server or the 'pipe' not coping with the information, since both high end latest graphics card water cooled PCs and old lappies like mine, are equally affected.
    c) the mini browser awsomium related to the store----shutting it down releases memory and speeds up PC's response time and was acknowledged as buggy last year. The bug is back.
    d) turbinelauncher.exe or turbineclient.exe continually uploading crash reports and chewing bandwidth and memory.
e)the information to update the client is overloading the client , or the single core on the players' cpu that the engine is designed around is not up to the job, or something else magical. (Using Asimov's definition of science as magic to the ignorant, like me.)
f)Could be s 16 bit v 32 bit server problem (lots of theories on what. I'm no tech. Many threads testing this.)
    g) permissions to write are broken in some people lotro folders-probably a customer side problem but who knows.
    h) broken patch so some people's code is corrupted in the files on their computer
    i) turbine used a cheap team of under-qualified contractors to migrate a complex system from 32 bit to 64 bit and from a physical server to a mixture of physical and virtual servers ,in a cut price data centre, and didn't test it, didn't allow enough time to migrate the data server by server, and did it all simultaneously with releasing a whole new buggy set of code. Now they cannot find the end of the string to untangle the subsequent mess.
    j) our isps not being treated 'fairly' by turbines isp/ turbine's isp is throttling the connection when a certain number of users attempt to log on, or are simply living in the uk 9according to twichstream Frelord says these are the few with ctd or isp related problems ???)

    Persoanlly
Tracerts and pingplotter show no correlation between extra latency and experiencing this skill delay lock ups and 'server side lag'. My latency is still 260-320 with zero to 1% packet loss. but my skills lock up or animate, marching ants and fire after 3-5 secs. It is reminiscent of the stealth lock up in PvMP. This is sometimes accompanied by slideshow graphics and sound stopping snd starting. But sometimes it ain't.
The CTDs seemed to improve after a the second server fix. Now they are back.

    edit:
    win 7, 64 bit,
    nVidia 560m gaphics card,
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
    Total Physical Memory 7.98 GB
    Available Physical Memory 5.72 GB
    Total Virtual Memory 16.0 GB
    Available Virtual Memory 13.3 GB
    Page File Space 7.98 GB
    Lotro is installed on SSD

(on a side note . i'm reading that people are actually quitting because in europe and parts of US their ping sits around 80ms instead of 40? sheesh try living on the other side of the world, and raiding PvPing or trying to do those timed festival quests....whimps! people ctding or being frozen in game, however ...I can understand their frustration.

Ok here are a few examples of all the crashes I had last evening CET. It started late afternoon and went on whole evening during weekend/saturday peak/prime time until after midnight CE/Central European Time.

It has been reported and explained by me in earlier posts from last evening in this thread.

Also a few other threads taking up the crashes:

    Link: CTD like crazy TODAY

    Link: Turbinelaunchererror

Not sure if those crashes are identical to mine but the description is very similar.

I also had friends online who crashed alot. From UK and other places, so don't think it has anything to do with ping or the users/players ISP.

Sometimes I could Barely getting into game then crash before starting to do anything.

Sometimes getting in for a bit then suddenly it crashes in the middle of a quest or whatever.

After some of those crashes where I at least got into game, it then started crashing during log-in screen. As if it didn't have enough memory free or something to even load the game anymore.

Only solution then was to totally reboot whole PC. Just restarting game didn't help. It would keep crashing.

However when rebooting PC and all memory sure to be freed up. I could start over and get in for bit, maybe do a quest, before starting to crash again. Then same thing all over again. I lost count of how many crashes I had last night and how many times I had to reboot Pc to be able to at least do 1 quest at a time in Frostbluff. This went on whole evening from late afternoon until past midnight CET.

I tried lowering screen resolution. Tried running LoTRO in lower resolution windowed mode. Tried running LoTRO in various DX version 10, 11 etc. All the time having LoTRO graphics set to lowest.

Nothing helped. Kept crashing no matter what I tried.

Then as time passed on. Becoming after midnight. Peak time over and less people logging in or being online, the crashes became less frequent and around 1 or 2 Night CET the crashes stopped competely.

So it must have something to do with alot of people being on. Not necessary in same region or even same server. I tried a few low alts I still have left on some of the closing servers and it would just be my Son and me in Frostbluff on those servers, so not alot of players near or anything. I still had same crashes even on those servers with no people near. Crashing seems to be related to number total on whole server cluster or something. Maybe numbers of others logging-in that kicks me out ???

My Son played on the newer PC with Win7 64-bit and he did NOT crash. Only the PC with Win Vista 32-bit crashed like this. Normally it doesn't and as I said stopped crashing when fewer people online late at night.

So how this is connected I have no idea ??? Something since move requires alot it seems and computers running 32-bit that at least could run LoTRO before the move seems to not be able to handle it at all and crash when alot of people are on the server cluster. I suspect that on better PC's it will not make them crash but cause skill delays, lag and other issues but not fully crash them. Memory leak ??? Something with log-in server when many logs in ??? As someone suggested it could have to do with the turbineclientlauncher.exe trying to send crash reports overloading PC and cause the crashes ???

I have no idea what Win OS the others that reports crashing in those other threads have. If they too run 32-bit, Vista, XP, or 7, maybe even 64-bit 7, 8.1 or 10. How much RAM or how much GPU memory they have. No idea at all, as I'm not the tech guy but I hope this info will help Turbine pin point what it could be and finally fix it.

I've been trying to play pretty heavily since Thursday. My client crashes to the desktop with no error message of any kind roughly once an hour. It has crashed as many as three times in one hour, though.

It seems to crash most frequently when changing zones through a loading screen, but it has crashed several times when doing completely mundane stuff like handing in a task in a town with no other players nearby. It has also crashed once or twice when logging out on a character. Anecdotally, the crashes may be somewhat more frequent during high population hours, but I can't swear to it.

I tried re-installing LotRO yesterday; it did not improve the stability at all.

My computer is high-end (Windows Experience Score 7.8), with drivers and other software up to date. I play many video games, most more graphically intensive than LotRO. None of them crash, ever. Except LotRO.

Prior to Update 17, the rate of crashes was far lower, maybe once every four hours or so. Of course, immediately after Update 17, the rate was even higher; it was rare for the client to run for more than 5 minutes without crashing.

As if the crashes weren't enough to ruin my game experience, I also experience very frequent (every 10 seconds or so) brief frame rate dips (from 100 fps to ~10 or so, and then back to 100 fps). That has been happening since RoR.

I further experience occasional extended (5-10 seconds) periods of skill lag in PvE. This is highly noticeable playing a Warden, since it messes up gambit-building completely. These are infrequent enough that they are not as annoying as the constant crashes and frame-rate spikes.

All of these problems are unique to LotRO.

Almost month into the transfer and the game is hardly enjoyable anymore for me with its random skill lag, rubber banding and many, many crashes. Such a shame.

For those having crashes to desktop please post the infos:

    - Operating system version
    (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...erating-system)
    - 32bit or 64bit
    - RAM in the system

If possible use your task-manager and check how much RAM is being consumed by LotRO, is it stable/static (+/- abit) or does it continously grow?

The LOTRO client is automatically uploading any crash reports to the 'crash server':

The 'No space left on device' might be an indication of the number of crashes happening at the moment..

For me, no disconnects anymore, but CTDs seem to have increased instead.

Guilty as charged! I don't know how people with 100+ pings ever get from MT to the South Gate, let alone raid. There are too many other games out there that simply don't have these performance issues.

Fewer DC's since last update but another issue has arisen. LOTRO is now DC'ing occasionally, usually when alting to a different character and taking my router with it, only a reset of my router gets me back online. According to Task Manager lotroclient is gobbling up RAM like mad, at times over 3gb worth. Playing during peak periods is impossible in Gondor or Old Anorien, even with graphics set to low. Latency is normal (90-110) with zero or very few lost packets when problems occur.

One other odd problem. When loading LOTRO it seems to be turning off the EAX and Surround settings on my sound card. This is verified by making sure they are turned on before loading LOTRO then checking after I get to the LOTRO login screen. Since the game DOES have an option to turn on EAX within the Audio settings why is it turning it off on my soundcard so that particular game setting will not work unless I alt-tab out of the game and turn it back on again? I'm a lil unsure WHY the game is messing with my soundcard settings but it's annoying as heck. Seems to me like an incorrect useage of DirectX/DirectSound code within the game itself.

I took a time out in January, so yesterday was my first time back.

Landroval: definite lag at times. For example, my hunter (level 23, playing in the uncrowded Lone Lands) would throw a trap, and it would be several seconds before the trap visuals would appear. I've never had this problem before.

Gladden: choppy performance at times. We ran the Rift as a five-player level 100 group. I noticed an intermittent effect that I would call a "visual stutter" rather than the defined lag I saw on Landy. Also, I ran my warden through the new quest in Minas Tirith (can't remember what it is called) where you spar with a series of soldiers in an internal training area. I experienced something of the same problem I have in BBs, where my gambits simply wouldn't execute.

Although a lower ping rate is desirable, if latency is below 160 everything SHOULD be fine as long as the server is handling calls/requests efficiently. Humans just can't react to anything less than 140-160ms so actual gameplay wouldn't be affected but graphics display would be smoother with a lower latency.

Let me just point out something here since there seem to be some kind of "myths" on these fora.

32 bit is not limited to 4 gb of physical ram; some os's and sp's (service packs) are. For example: Windows XP could use more than <> 3.5 gb before sp 2.
Personally I can run 3 clients in my band in Bree on Windows XP sp3 without larger issues ... and I havn't experienced crashes. Yes, I've experienced packet loss and a higher latency like so many others.

I never thought LotRo was that well optimized/coded, and with the latest routing/data-transfer issues since data-server move, it can/may/will cause problems for some/many.

    PvMP Landroval

PvMP gameplay in the Ettenmoors yesterday evening on Landroval was deplorable. Children's Fisher-Price View-Masters offer better animation than the stop and go that everyone in raid and on the OOC channel was complaining about! Not being able to fire off skills, much less know where your character was on the map a good deal of the time because half the characters on screen were running in place, etc.. Why am I paying for this again?

    edit:
Because I love this game and, like so many others, want to see it do well. Patience can only be spread so thin, however.

    UTTERLY UNPLAYABLE.

Want all the blue names in the moors to tell us how we are supposed to play this ####.

Complete skill lag. Free movement and watch the bleeds kill you..

    This is a joke.

    ### is wrong and what are you doing to fix it ?
