    Noble Grey Steed

    For those who haven't seen it yet, this is the Noble Grey Steed that comes with the Steam Starter Pack (http://store.steampowered.com/app/213174).

    I think it's one of the best looking steeds yet. Definitely the best looking of the "blanketed" steeds.

    Have you seen the mysterious horse known as "The Descendant" whom you get to play in the quests you get with the Legendary Pre-order? Now there is a beautiful animal.

    No I haven't! Do you have a picture? Collecting mounts is my hobby on Lotro, so any news of a new mount always excites me.

    Yeah, the horse is by far one of the best looking in the game. I did notice that air comes shooting out of its nostrils, don't think I ever noticed that before on any other horse.

    Also, why is the toolbar button for this single horse transparent?

    Alas, I have no way of posting a screenshot, since I don't have Flickr or any of those other sites.

    However, if you have some free time, check out

    (a) the road between Weathertop and Ost Guruth;

    (b) the road between the Last Bridge and the Ford of Bruinen;

    (c) the road between the bridge over the river near Ost Lagoros and Esteldin, and the Rhunenlad where the Ongburz Orcs hang out ...

    Depending on what day it is and which two of the nine repeatable quests your server has running that day, you may see one or several dapple-grey horses, with white manes and tails and with ~ before their names, running quests. They're not in instances, but right out in the world. It took me a couple of days to realize this.

    Yep i got that noble grey steed, its called 'Cloudy' Think the constant 'Steam' coming from its nostrils could be a Steam pun because its steam exclusive.

    The Steam Starter pack deal is an exceptional value, especially for free2players who haven't sprung for any of the quest packs.

    I like how no one actually even sits in the saddle on this one.

    No saddle. And the player IS the horse.

    Re: Noble Grey Steed

    I'm curious: does the horse skill show as "Noble Grey Steed" like, say, the Lossoth Steed? Or does it separate out into Noble Grey Horse and Noble Grey Pony?

    The Stangard horse had that issue too for a while, but it's since been corrected.

    I'm not entirely sure why this happens. One explanation I've heard is that the icons we see are actually two or more images overlaid on top of each other. That is, there's a green backdrop for mount skills that all the skills use, each just overlaying their horse-head. But if the backdrop isn't called properly, you're left with the transparent head.

    Either way, it'll probably be fixed eventually.

    The latter: it says "Noble Grey Horse" for my elf and "Noble Grey Pony" for my hobbit.

    Yes it is! For $15.00 the pack is account-wide. So all your toons get the steed, plus a couple other goodies. I was very pleased.

    Well we have been complaining in the forums that we want more transparency from Turbine.

    I've posted this here a few days back, but thanks for your post, I love the rearing emote. I do think it's one of the better looking steeds in the game, and certainly blows my Mithril edition horse out the water.

    Ok, if I am understanding correctly...if I check these places and I am in the right place at the right time I may win this steed by doing the quests?

    Nope. You just get to see other players (who pre-ordered RoR) doing session play as a horse, much like when you see a chicken running around with ~ in front of their name.

    Re: Noble Grey Steed

    Please excuse my newbie-ness, but what exactly is the "steam starters pack"? The link doesn't look like it came from the turbine store? I am really confused about what it is and where it comes from? Can somebody please explain this to me in detail? Thanks!

    Re: Noble Grey Steed

    Steam is the digital distribution platform from Valve. They have lots of games on there for sale.

    You buy a game from Steam, download it through the Steam platform (which has to be installed to your PC), and Steam keeps the game updated when patches come out.

    You can download the f2p client from Steam OR buy the "Steam Starter Pack" (which is on sale atm & very good value for a f2p player).
    Hunter & alts on Snowborne since 2007, now on Evernight.
