Library FAIL, after early Moria Domination???

Well, I dont know if "Domination" is a big strong, but 2 days ago, I was going along through Moria, and I was attacked by 5 blue (lvl 52 as I was 53) goblins and an Overseer (I think thats the name) which was also lvl 52, and I slaughtered them all with 2/3 morale and about 1/4 power still on my bars... scared the **** outa me, but I did it. Then later, I went futher down into the Silver Lodes and was jumped by 4 yellow goblins, then about 3/4 through, one of the invisible goblins popped out and attacked, again I took all them on with more than 1/2 morale left.

At this point, Im feeling good about myself, but my Warden needed some fresh air, so yesterday I thought I would head back to Eregion and do some of the small fellow quests (which I didnt know were the infamous Library and School) and I picked up a 54 Hunter and 53 Hunter along with myself at lvl 54. We walk in to the Library and we get destroyed. We go in again and though we make it through to the 2 sub-bosses, I died about 1/2 dozen times!

I start with (I dont remember the names but Ill give the numbers) 2132, followed by a 31232 go get my shield and life pumpin a bit... I give the fat guys a couple 31's and continue with a 31232 and 3123 combo's to bump my life and attack all the I can in the process...

One of the Hunters ended up dropping and we picked up a kinnie and his lvl 60 LM that REALLY helped us with the 3 Commanders, but I dont think I had snowball's chance in hell to take on the commanders with the 2 hunters. We continued with the LM to the School and pretty much tore up with only the hunter dieing a couple times and me and the LM dieing none.

Did I need a healer in those 3 man instances? Do I need to level a bit more first? Do I need to use another approach besides the 2132, 31232 and 3123 with the occasional 31's for the bigger guys?

Sorry for the long winded post, but I was really dissappointed after that

I wouldn't sweat it, those commanders hit real hard and you don't have conviction yet to help hold aggro, DoW is great, but the animation is a little slow. Also it depends on how the Hunter(s) were playing, were they in strength stance? Were they opening with HS? Death is not always the tanks fault.

Well its been awhile since I ran the Library but I recently helped a kinnie through the School and the trick there is to seperate the mobs at the top of the stairs so the boss doesn't get heals. After you clear the courtyard, have someone kite the healer around downstairs while a tank (thats you) holds aggro on the boss and the DPSer nukes it, all at the top of the stairs. The last room you pull the mobs one or 2 at a time, leaving the last boss for a straight up tank'n'Spank. Easy peasy.
Good group makeup is important in 3 mans. Tank + DPS + Whatever

Doing those anywhere near on-level without a healer is generally a bad Idea. I would wager that 3-man instances require someone who can heal, at least a little (like a loremaster in this case). Remember, small fellowship quests <> 3-man instance.

i ran with two kinnies (rk and mini) and we swept through school and library. you really do need a healer and a dps'er... all you got to do is hold the aggro of the heavy hitters and let the others do their job. just hold the elites and sigs off the squishies

at the very least bring a Captain with you, that's more then enough to do those instances, though having a real healer does make things easier.

I did it at the time with a 52 Captain (me) a Guard and a Hunt or Chump, don't remember and we did very nicely.

Also if you're going into the library with a hunter, make sure they're fairly diligently clearing poisons. When they get stacked the DoTs can get downright nasty, and amount to more damage than the mobs are actually hitting you for with attacks.

Those two instances are difficult for many groups. Don't feel bad SCHawks73.

They are incredibly tough at level. I failed at them several times on my Minstrel with a Tank and Hunter (go figure). But my favorite group which swept through them was my Waden, RK and LM. Knowing the instances and having a clear strategy also really worked in our favor. As japridemor said, the key in that fight is to separate the two.

With two hunters, they should be running up with you. There's no point in standing far away like if they were soloing.

I find it so funny that someone can just type a string of numbers and we know what he's talking about. It's almost like reading binary or something. Hunters can almost do it, but there's some slight variation depending of if they still have the (formerly) useless Barbed Arrow on their bar.

But yeah, I ran those two instances last week with myself at L52, a 53 LM, and a 60 RK (healing), we only ran into trouble twice. Once when we first got in, I've only tanked a few times before and the first pull was kind of nasty, but we were able to finish it with only one death. And the second time was with the pale folk boss in the school, since we had a DPS light group and pale folk have random aggro things didn't go well there, but with a slight strat change we took him down the second time.
