Re: How do i run 2 accounts from same comp?
I 2 box sometimes when my wife is not playing. I mainly either level a low level character with 1 of our 50's, craft with one or shard camp with one. I am not good enough to play 2 at once when both actually have to be doing something to not wipe though. For example I could not run both together for a CD boss. The group would basically be 5 manning since my second toon would be kind of worthless.

I hope this isn't a regular thing for LoTRO players - I'd hate to have to filter my fellowship choices since I expect fellows to focus and make efforts to do a good job in a fellowship on that one toon let alone managing two or more! lol
I just don't get it. One life is already rich and full enough.

It's ok, I'm sure there are a lot of things in life you don't understand and probably a lot of things that you shouldn't make assumptions on. You know what assuming does?
I have two boxed for a while in EQII. Why do I do it? I don't want to have to depend on finding a group if I want to do that quest, or go to that area. I like to challenge myself. I like leveling two characters at once so that I can use either one if I find a group I do want to join...and so on...
As far as quality in groups? I try never to dual box in a group. I only will if it could help the group, ie they can't find a healer/tank/extra dps. Of course I will never match 2 competent individuals, but we two boxers are usually the kind of people that know their class and game well and can easily out play two regular people who don't know exactly what thier doing (or are lazy)

Yes, it creates replies.
Just say no to Two-Boxing during Fellowships, and just say no to riding your horse around inside. No assumptions there. haha

See, there's nothing wrong with dual-boxing, but -that- is exploiting.

Hahahaha, nice. As much as I'd love to do that I actually never have. So you can shove your accusations up your ***. But I appreciate your moronic attempts at smearing me. Just because you don't like me doesn't mean you have to stoop so low.
Edit: Oh wait, I just realized. When I used to AFK on NPCs during a PvMP session was before I even had a second account. Totally pwns that theory.

Yes there are a variety of ways to control 2 accounts (or more) with one keyboard. www.dual-boxing.com is a community of folks that enjoy running anywhere from 2 - 24 accounts at a time all controlled by one keyboard.
Mainly the forum is for WoW, but there are gamers on there that play other games as well.
Your choices are hardware or software.
With hardware you can get a KVM or Vetra.... or invest in wireless keyboards and just use one keyboard with all receivers targeted to the one keyboard.
There are also a variety of software options that are drastically cheaper to free. Keyclone is the main tool of choice for WoW players.
Now... Im not sure what LOTRO stance is on this, I know of 4 folks who use keyclone to multibox LOTRO and they havent gotten into trouble. I know in WoW, EQ2, and DAOC its fine, but Multiboxing is completely up to the devs if its legal or not.
One would have to ask them

You can use a G15 to macro, and yes. It is legal.
Question/Topic
Can I use my Logitech G15 Keyboard or other advanced input peripheral with LOTRO?
Answer/Article
Yes! Players may use any standard hardware input device and associated software with the game. The device may be used to remap UI functions and even automate frequently used key sequences. It may not be used as an aid for unattended gameplay, automated gameplay, or any other use which violates our End-User License agreements. To view the LOTRO End User License Agreement, click HERE.
this info was taken from this page http://www.lotro.com/index.php?page_id=126
I would assume this is the same for any multibox program.

Yeah if G15's are fine (which can be used for limited automation) then Keyclone and such would be fine as they do not allow ANY kind of automation.

I will stress 2GB of ram is a MUST! A decent video card is good also, but I still get 25-30fps while 2boxing. This also only works on windows XP. You must have 2 accounts. Before doing this, log in and click "windowed mode" then log back out.
1) go to c:/programfiles/turbine (or wherever your lotro is installed, NOT THE FILE IN MY DOCUMENTS!) Copy the "lord of the rings online" folder.
2) paste that folder to your desktop
3) rename the folder "lord of the rings online2"
4) go inside that folder and find "turbine launcher", right click and "create shortcut"
5) drag that shortcut to the desktop.
Now, you must click both "turbine launcher, gold rings" before logging in! You will get 2 login screens. Put one account info in one, and the other account info in the other.
You can now alt+tab between the programs, no problem. I also use a G15 for things like /follow.

Okay, there has to be another step involved that I'm not getting here. I did all of that and successfully loaded two login windows. When I enter both account details and login one logs and fully loads and the other says "cannot bind local socket, is there a client running?" What did you all do to allow for both client windows to fully load without this issue?

Re: How do i run 2 accounts from same comp?
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Synergy for using one keyboard and mouse with 2 (or more) computers. It's an awesome piece of software and it works like a champ. I've used it to 2-box in Eve regularly. It basically makes it so that when you move your mouse off the side of the screen, it "moves" to the other computer (using the network connection to send the commands) and takes your KB with it. You can configure it for which side of the screen to use and all that. It's super cool and it's free (open source) and it's multiplatform (I've gone between windows and linux boxes before).
You guys should check it out. It's completely effective and way cheaper than a hardware solution.

Re: How do i run 2 accounts from same comp?
When I was a Diablo II addict and I was too scared to use loaders what I did was create two log ins for XP. You just reinstall the game twice (rename the original install file). The annoying thing is that it would take forever to switch accounts. But there's a follow command in this game... good thing.

You don't have to install the game twice to play it on 2 Windows logins at once, at least not in XP.

Same here. I've tried everything. I must be missing something. I have a great comp with a great videocard and 2 monitors. 2boxing would be easy in window mode, if I could get it setup right.
