Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Is there anywhere one might be able to listen to the various musics before having to buy them ?

Great resources!
I looked at the hook description and the Small House doesn't seem to match mine at 4 Waterbank in elf-land.
I have:

Upstairs: (Fixed large, lit fireplace), 1 small floor, 1 small furniture, 1 large furniture, 2 thin, 2 small wall, 1 large wall
Interior: 1 music, 1 wall color, 1 wall type, 1 floor type, 1 floor color
No: Large Yard, Enormous Yard, Special Furniture, Ceiling

I'm starting to work on some other guides, so I've redone the site directory structure.
If you've linked to the guide from this site please use one of these links:

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Hello,
I have a floorplan for the kinhouses in Bree-housing, done up in Excel. After visiting over a dozen kinhouses, I have hook placements and types for each room. How can I get this info to you? I'm on the Silverlode server, character is Ioan.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Apparently as an extra bonus, LOTRO includes the ability to feel exceptionally dense for only a gold.
I bought a house. I walked in the house with my rug & my tree. How do I place the rug in the house? I tried dragging it, using it, etc. No effect.
How do I buy storage for the house? who sells it? WHat is it called?
SirGaldalfi told me that Rain's housing guide answered all these things, but all I see is a page with links to pictures.
Normally when I want to feel stupid, I just consult my children, my boss or my ex-wife. LOTRO homeownership will make it easier than ever for me to feel like a complete dunce. Oh joy.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
On the circle surrounding your minimap, at about the 7 o'clock position there is a "decorating" tab. Click it when you're at your house. Then right click on a housing "hook" that you want to use. You'll get a pop-up window with a slot that looks a bit like an inventory slot. Drag an appropriate item from you invo to that slot (not to the "hook" in your house, but to the slot in the pop-up dialogue box).
The vendor area in your neighborhood will have a housing vendor NPC. They'll sell, IIRC, a housing chest (might be called "red chest"?). You can buy one for standard house, 2 for deluxe. Equip it in your house.
All of this was pre Book 12 so if there were any changes your mileage could vary, but I didn't see anything in the Release Notes that would seem to change this.Glamral Isten Fusillade Glamdral. Salvation

On the circle surrounding my minimap? You've got to be kidding! Why would I have looked there?
/bow Fusillade Thank you kindly.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Sorry you couldn't find the housing info you wanted.
For a Game Manual addendum about housing:
1) First, to www.LOTRO.COM
2) On the left side, mouse over "About LOTRO"
and click on "Game Manual"
3) You'll see "LOTRO Manual Addendum is now available" and click on the "download it by clicking here".
4) You'll now be able to read about housing in the Game Manual, where it answers =some= of your questions.
ANOTHER way for help while playing the game is to press F7 the HELP key, or ESC then Help. Then type in the word Housing. There is a full explaination of what to do, etc. Very handy.
By the way, for detailed quest help, see both www.thebrasse.com and www.mehq.net -- excellent sources so that you don't have to spend needless time trying to find the object of the quest! It has saved me countless hours of wandering around. 8>)Last edited by SirGandelphi; Feb 14 2008 at 04:41 PM.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
I've a question about the new Book 12 update on housing decroations: where are any of the NEW items to purchase, or craft?
I went to the local housing supply vendor but do not see anything new. It is nice that we can now rotate our stuff to face any direction, so can have my chair facing the fireplace, etc.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Okay, so I went to the elf rep vendor to buy a couple more elven statues for the front of my house... and they aren't there anymore. Does anyone know where the housing items you could buy from Rep vendors have gone?
The statues, special furniture, everything was gone except the recipes you could buy.Saelindraen, lvl 50 hunter - Landroval

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Red, there's another vendor standing nearby who now has them (as well as standard supplier items, oddly enough).

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Alright, so you have to at least have ally standing with any rep group to purchase items that we could once purchase as acquaintance or higher.
Thanks for the info, just a little upset that they moved these items into a much higher rep category before they can be purchased.Saelindraen, lvl 50 hunter - Landroval

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Yeah, and then Turbine in effect HIDES the new housing items from view, making this like some kind of wierd treasure hunt or something. What a way to try and furnish a house.
Why not have housing items like armour? You can't purchase it until you've reached a certain level, for example. Hiding where the items are, making us search for recipes, having ally standing with some group, etc ... what?!! just to buy housing items? Why?
Gads, in the real Medieval era, people would go to a furniture maker and he would make the furniture you wanted. Or you would buy from a traveling merchant who came to town once in a while. Much simpler and realistic.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Let me just ask this to confirm it:
Even though the Lorebook says you only need Acquaintance status with the Elves of Rivendell to buy Elven statues, you actually need ALLY status?
Source: http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Reput...s_of_Rivendell
Just want to make sure this is the case before I grind my way to Acquaintance standing only to discover I have many miles to go before I sleep.
Thank you.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
It seems the links to the festival housing skins has been deleted from photobucket. Also I couldn't find these items in the links at the decoration website. Rain, are you planning to have pictures of these items and where they come from on the site? Am I missing these?

Time to get back into the game. Feel free to send me your screenshots (preferably hi-res and in the size and framing of the existing items) if you want new items linked in the housing guide.

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Awsome job on the site.
Have a question or even a suggestion for the developers.
Is there a feature that allows one to do screenshots and frame these for use as a Wall picture in his house? Think it would exciting idea if it hasn't already been implemented in the game.
Thanks much,
Krubby

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Wow that would be a great idea! I would love that!
I got a question of my own also!! Is there a site that you could listen to the music that you can hook in your house? I would love hearing them all and choosing between them...instead of going to every housing instance and grinding for deeds to get a song you dont like

Re: Rain's Decorating Guide
Agreed. I don't mind so much working to get all the housing pieces, but I'm a packrat, so if I buy something I don't want to use, it just ends up taking storage space.

Thank you, Rainwhisper and all the others, for putting together the list with pictures. If it is still growing, maybe I can help out with screenshots when I get something new.
