Being non combat the pets should indeed be enjoyed by the lower levels.
BUT: does the use of them require the Rhadagast quest to be completed ?
That would be hard for a low level player to do.
It is something that had to be earned.
They are bind on aquire/unique also ? Cant be sold or traded ?
That would close out any type of selling for a gain.
You need to complete the quest from Radagast to use the pets, therefore you need to be around level 30. I had some guildies help me at level 31 . Besides the hare, two of the recipes are from reputation and ARE bind on acquire, therefore you need the rep to use them. The rest of the scrolls for the pets are bind on use, so they are tradeable through the auction house.
I'm hoping that in future books they'll continue to add more non-combat pets through various means like quests and stuff so our list can keep growing

Oh, you need to complete the Radagast quest in order to use ANY pets, even the dropped "recipes?"

True that on the snake/serpent thing. Judeo-Christianity turned the snake evil because it was a fundamental symbol of life, eternity, resurrection, etc. (DNA is two snakes intertwined) to the belief systems they either tried to destroy or co-opt. Tolkein knew this well enough.
Tome of the Frog dropped for me while doing Book 5 Chap 8 last night and I was surprised to see it drop there. I've named him Kermi.
Hare (say hello Harvi) and Frog down...six more varmints to go.
I don't think Book 2 Chap 8 is necessary to get the Tomes of the Varmints, but you can't get the skill to use the pets until you can do the quest and you can't do the quest until you do Book 2 Chapter 8 and how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?
Looks like she was having a problem in getting him to move.
Mabe if a rat ran past it would move ? hehe
I like it that when you rename a pet as example.
I have several of the pet skin amulets.
When you name the black bear "henry" and name the polar bear "Charlie" they retain their given name.
I have several new pet skins and each one maintains the name you give to it.

You need to have the trait (passive skill) "friend of th wild" to summon any pet, and you have to have completed book 2 ch8 to get this trait. However, you might be able to "learn" the scrolls without it. Still, if you want to actually use a non-combat pet, you need to have book 2 ch 8 done.

I'm not sure your reasoning is correct there.
Generally speaking, people are much more likely to consider things that attack us as "evil" especially ones that will surprise you (spiders for example). So it kind of makes sense for satan to be a snake. Imagine if Satan had been a bunny. Come on. That's stuff for comedies (see Monty Python and South Park's Woodland Critters).
And the creation story is old testament. Christianity had nothing to do with inventing that story.

Yeah... now that I think about it it's a bit surprising to me that Tolkien did not include anything evil that is snake-like or a snake in the books. In cultures all around the world snakes can be considered evil, though there are many where they are considered good. It really depends on the encounters people have with them.
My loremaster has the hare and the frog now. I am unable to dismiss either of them; there is no icon in the upper left of the screen, and right-clicking the critter itself doesn't work. The only way to clear my pet so I can bring in a combat pet is to relog.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what did you do to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.
First, I've been told it's not soloable even at 50. That could be untrue; I don't trust the source 100%. I'm nearly 46. I probably can't solo it. I'm rarely on when anyone I know is on anymore, and I'm not doing any quest that involves elites with a PUG.
Second, I dropped the quest about 3 months ago and am unable to pick it back up.
Book 2 isn't given to you by Radagast. It is given to you by Gandalf, in the Prancing Pony, who tells you to go see Radagast. If you drop Book 2, you have to go back to the Pony and go up to Gandalf's room. You *may* have to speak to Barliman Butterbur first before you can enter Gandalf's room. After speaking to Gandalf, you will have Book 2: Foreword.
I cant seem to rename my non-combat pets. I only have the hare, but i tried the '/pet rename <petnamehere>>' command shown here on this thread, but it says something like 'command cannot be used on non-combat pets'. Yes i have the animal selected and ive tried slightly different commands like '/pet rename [petnamehere]' nothing works, what am i doing wrong?
Was doing that, nothing. It seems to work for everyone else on this forum, yet when I ask anyone in game they all think im crazy. Why cant I rename my non-combat pet?? '/pet rename [petnamehere]' does not work for me.

I just did a rename again today with the Hare, to be sure, and it does work for me. However, the first time I summoned the pet the rename command didn't work; gave me an error on being unable to rename a companion so I wonder if there may be an intermittent bug in the non-combat pet code.
Best I can say is to dismiss the pet, summon one of the combat pets, dismiss that pet, and resummon the Hare. If that doesn't work /bug.
So far I have the hare, cat, and fox, and should have the turtle in an hour or so . I'm going to be taking pics and I"ll put them all together in one picture so everyone can see. If it's OK I will include pictures of other pets people have posted on this thread. I'm excited to see that there is more than 8 non-combat pets, but it makes me wonder how many there really are! Patience said 8 and we now have 9!
One thing I've noticed is that the Hare, Cat, and Fox are all unbelievably slow... but the turtle is fast!

with the pet clicked (manually targeted).
It's easy enough to forget if you don't use it enough or are not thinking about it.
The command listed is now correct.
Thanks Asriel for noticing I forgot the space.
Someone might stop reading there and try it, thinking they found the answer.

Reason: spaced out.... forgot the space
The proper command is: /petreleaseall with the pet clicked (manually targeted).

You forgot the space.
/pet releaseall
Pets do not need to be clicked for that one to take effect (hence the all in releaseall).
Yes, the mobs are lucky he is non-combat. Can you imagine a Lore-master with knockback?
