My first impression of LoTR was great. 28 lvls later not so great. First Turbine recommened a EU server even after I signed up as North American account. Being new to the game I kinda just figured Its a new server or not very many people were on the server. A few lvls later I start to think, well maybe theres just not very many americans that play on this server. Most of the people on Withywindle were signing out at 5:00 or 6:00 pm my time, so I do more question asking and find out its a EU server. At this point, I had already upgraded to VIP, bought a delux house, had 17-18gold, and 28lvls into it; just to have to delete the toon give, away the gold, and start anew on a Noth American sever, so I could raid when I got into higher lvls." remember most on withywindle are going to bed or w/e by the time I signed on". Why in the heck are new players being sent to a EU server????? I go to a new server and start over, still a bit steamed having to start over, and get 20 lvls into it just to find out theres no houses to be bought in Bree or rivendale. The only houses for sell are in the caves/mountians. What!!!!!! How in the name of all MMO's do you sell out of houses in a MMO game???? Luckly, I only wasted $14.99 for the VIP and 1.5 weeks of time; very greatful for that. Have fun guys, this one isn't for me.

As far as I have heared (long-term players should correct me) new players are usually sent to a server wherwe there are more new players, North America or not.

Housing problem does exist in Lotro. Hopefully, it would be solved this year. I had same problem:first, purchased simple house and then wanted deluxe. Oops, no Deluxe houses in my house settlement (only small and Kinship). I had to abandon house and search for a Deluxe one.
Possible solution: look at Housing broker, what she has to offer. There usually are less populated areas with free houses.

Game does not begin or end with housing. I started Lotro as a game number two (just because my own game went on maintenance and I had nothing to play): now it's number 1, I'm immersed into it...and I am not a Tolkienist. It's just huge immersive world with very good community.
There are no US or EU servers any more. All the servers are in the Boston area.
There are servers whose base population started out in the EU, but it has been about 20 months since they migrated to the US and ever since that time all the servers have been treated the same and the populations should be evening out across the globe.

This, and there should be a housing revamp this year which I think most people are expecting to do something about availability issues. Also, new players should realize that if they want to group, they should join a kinship. Kinships have other players in them who want to group with you, and in an older MMO like LotRO, which has ongoing attrition, a lot of kinships thankful and thrilled to have new players like you come in.
Mostly Middle Earth and occasionally UK West Mids.

Yep, I was looking to upgrade my Shire house to Deluxe yesterday, but there are no Deluxe left on Crickhollow. Should have bought a Deluxe in the first place I guess.
