Error when trying enter the game
I have to say, Im pretty angry at this point. I downloaded the mac client only to find out that I needed lion OS or higher. So I spent 20 good dollars on mountain lion from the mac app store just for LOTRO, hoping that there would be no more problems. This time, the launcher actually opened but it got stuck halfway through the patch at "Checking dat files". Just recently, I replaced all of the .dat files in the LOTRO folder. I ran the launcher and everything worked as it should. When it came time to log in (at this point I was really excited because I thought that It would finally work), I couldn't get in. I typed in my username and password, then I chose the server (I tried multiple servers), and then an error pops up that says:
Game Error [34943108]
Can't open the data files. Check that they exist and
that you have permission to write to them. The
program will now exit.
[PlatformStringID_DatFile_Error]
I just can't get a break! Im sick of this! Ive spent about a week trying to get this godforsaken game to work!
Is there anyone that can tell me what I can do to solve this problem?

I tried to respond to your other queries on this thread:
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...87#post6515287
In order to try to help resolve this it would help if you just confirm exactly what you have done because I am not sure what you mean by;
There should be no solution which requires moving .dat files around and it is more than likely to cause issues that you are having than resolve them. This can be due to permissions issues, the original data being corrupted etc.Just recently, I replaced all of the .dat files in the LOTRO folder.
Honestly, it sounds like you would be better to do a fresh install as there is most likely some corruption in the data.
In order to do this you first need to remove the currently installed folders/files and trash them:
1. Trash your already downloaded LotroLauncher.dmg file.
2. In the Applications folder trash the application;
The Lord of the Rings Online™
3. Navigate to the Preferences folder by;
a) In the Finder click Go then press down the Alt key and select Library.
In the Preferences folder scroll down to the prefs files and trash these;
com.turbine.lotroclient.plist
com.turbine.LotroLauncher.plis t
4. Still in the Library directory go to Application Support and trash the folder;
com.turbine.lotroclient
5. Now re-download the LotroLauncher.dmg from (linked from Turbine page);
http://download.lotro.akamai.turbine...roLauncher.dmg
This time allow it to fully Verify and go through the installation process. When you do this and you get any issues check this thread for known issues and workarounds;
http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...er-Suggestions
Note particularly the downloaded File Size (should be 17.74GB), Verification process, Gatekeeper settings, Firewall (off some find necessary), Selecting Language during initial launch to get the Terms & Conditions pages to progress. Also ensuring that the relevant ports are open on your modem router.
If have have any issues not noted or on other threads here then post with as much detail as possible.

First of all, thanks for responding and trying to help me solve the problem.
By "replace the .dat files" i meant copying every file with the .dat extension and trashing the older version of it. I read about this in a thread for fixing the "stuck on examine game data" problem for the windows client. I was essentially experiencing the same thing so I did what the instructions said. I copied every .dat file and trashed the original. This seemed to work, as it got me past the "stuck on checking dat files" problem, but when I tried to log in, the error message appeared.
I would have liked to avoid downloading LOTRO again because I don't have unlimited bandwidth. I already tried downloading it again and when I tried to open the .dmg it said it was damaged; forcing me to trash it.

No problem just trying to get this sorted for you.
The error when trying to open the .dmg file could well have been the Gatekeeper error as it gives a false error (Valamar indicates this is part Apple bug) and is not actually damaged. Setting it to 'Anywhere' usually resolves this, for future reference.
When I read the error message you copied previously for the login stage;
The only place I have seen a similar one was from the blog showing how to run teh closed beta Mac client on live here;Game Error [34943108]

It was Valamar so maybe he has something more specific for it. Then it was to do with swapping in specific files, but it can also be actually what it says, which is an issue reading the .dat files for another reason.
Have you tried to set the permissions of the related .dat files?
/Applications/LotroLauncher.app/Contents/Resources/lotroclient.app/Contents
I think contains the .dat files. Set that folder via right click > Get Info > Sharing & Permissions > Me/admin select Read & Write then click the gear icon at the bottom and select Apply to enclosed items... (probably have to enter pass via the padlock to do this)
If this does not help try making a new account with Admin priviliges and see if you can run it from that. That may help if the permissions are screwed.
From the other threads I think you already confirmed that the connection was OK to the login and live servers and switched Firewall off. If this is working correctly then it does seem to point more to corrupted files and/or permissions issue.
Can you post what you are getting in the LotroLauncher.log file:
~/Library/Logs/LotroLauncher.log
If you are not sure how to get to this check the Mac general stuff posted by Valamar on the lotro-wiki;
http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Mac_Client
For reference mine shows;
The last two lines come up when you actually complete login/pass and get onto the server. Try this. I still think, however painful, a fresh install may be the answer. Let's see.
You should also do the normal maintenance checks on the Mac like running Disk Utility to Repair Permissions, rebooting etc. Just to help eliminate as much as possible. Check out this for basics here;

I checked all of the permissions and they all allow me to read & write.
I don't quite understand how to get to the library though. I tried following your instructions but I couldn't find it. Can you give a more detailed process of finding the library?

Usually to access the hidden user Library, in the Finder (main window on a Mac) I click on Go in the top menu bar, then press the Alt key which will reveal the Library (hidden by default) and navigate to the folders from there, in this case Logs. Console is fine also.
So, from the log it shows that the launcher is loading and then proceeding to connect to the login server and it is then that the error occurs. That indicates it is an issue with one or more of the installed files, whether corruption or permissions.
Still worth making a new account with admin permission to check that.
As a few others are having a similar issue it may be something else which is as yet identified but mostly it seems that it does work for players even after having to jump a few hurdles that we have managed to find workarounds. This omits corruption in the original .dmg file.
That leaves some issue with corruption during download, verification or installation (or after), or, perhaps some permissions not set correctly preventing it from reading the files.
Other than that I can't think of any other option other than to fresh install to rectify any corrupt data.
I do suggest that you open a ticket with Turbine to see what they can do.Gaspard Strongpole - Hunter on Eldar : Mac Player - iMac/27-inch, Mid 2011/ 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5/ 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3/ AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB/OS X 10.8.3

I can't answer how quickly as I haven't used it for a while. I read it is quite slow at the moment but it tends to vary depending on workload and mine was responded to within 24 hours from memory.Gaspard Strongpole - Hunter on Eldar : Mac Player - iMac/27-inch, Mid 2011/ 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5/ 16GB 1333 MHz DDR3/ AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB/OS X 10.8.3
