if you can get a code, you should be able to activate it (even old moria box keys still work if you manage to get your hands on one).
the mithril isnt an older edition, it is a recently published version, consisting of the game itself, plus some bundled quest packs, the steed, some TP etc. You always get the up to date game client, no matter which quest packs / expansions you have purchased.
In case of getting old Moria boxes, be forewarned, that there are two types of Moria dscs - Turbine and Codemasters (ex-publishers for LotRO in europe). Codemasters version no longer works, after Turbine retook the opration of the game in Europe. So check before you buy.

hmm, i dont think you can use mount while still in beginner area, not the game proper, adn finishing beginner area usually makes one level 6-7.
So you just need finish intro, and then shop will offer you riding skill.
As for dwarf dance - its learnable in time of festivals. Closest would be Yule fest , sometime in december-january. Or you can buy it in shop. Many emotes need either be earned ingame, or bought thry shop if one feels too lazy to earn them ingame. Only few emotes (all golf-related, mounbow/mountrear, mountkick and a few more) are shop-only.
