It does seem to be the trend in online gaming for the past half decade at least: the quest for the all powerful solo warrior who, like Cuchulain in the Tain, threw the butt end of a spear through "thrice nine human skulls" and even managed to kill a final foe when dead.
What I'm enjoying about this game is the fact that it does not yet have a nearly invincible solo warrior capable of defeating mobs and champ spawns single handed. Leave that for single player games.
The beauty of the multiplayer game is that all players' ultimate endgame is being introduced to themselves, limitations and all. And we can't get there if the game lets us pretend we're all heroes and mighty.
It's not about being good at a computer game. It's about the relationships we form along the way. Any overpowered class works against that. And that's just dull.

I love this point you raise. Unfortunately, its pretty much alread too late. More and more, LOTRO is going to the solo warrior model and divesting itself of the relationships that are supposed to be formed to enhance the game. Once again we have an x-pac launching without a raid cluster, but this time we have raid level gear being released to solo content.
You can see its effects on the community is well, where before in game we were "forced" to cooperate and that built a model of cooperation on the forums and in global chat as well. And now everything is pretty much bickering where the point of the game seems to be demonstration how uber we are individually.
Good points, all. Thing is the original goal for online games, like the lyrics to that old tune, people who need people are the luckiest people in the world, served to build iron bonds and deathless memories among their players but were limited in range of appeal. They didn't employ leveling either. Once you go down the leveling path in game design....well....your destination is largely fixed.
Step back though and look at what most folks want. It costs too much to make these games now to do otherwise.
Most players want to look good, feel more powerful and capable than they truly are, and suffer no setbacks. It's delivered like religion: you get there through devotion alone.
Multiplayer combat simply doesn't serve those ends. Being logged on to a digital world with other people does. And to make sure there are more of them to admire you, make entry free.
It dismays me but it makes sense. The quests may seem juvenile and the whole bad music and emote yourself silly while working your handful of dance steps ad nauseum just ain't my thing, but it's not about me.
Sorry to drift so far from the topic.

I didnt read it all, just a few, but after a while I realized theres no way to be sure this is going to work. I'd rather be taking baby steps towards the right direction until we get there, that way we're assured a no-QQ session
I like my hunter btw ^^ but it is pretty UP sometimes
Grishgashr: Volo? Hes no way not a troll, Spidey may be but no one really pays attention to him
i read almost all, a few changes sounds nice, but tbh most of them are not necessary.
I dont have any kind of problem with my hunter, in pve i do my main role, dps, i got pretty much dps than another class, i dont run out of power normally (sometimes i need to use the power pots, as every class) and If i do i have enought resources:
-beneath notice
-intent concentration
-strongth of the earth
-and the heal (i dont rememver the name sorry)
About agroo, i play in precission and i dont get it normally.
so from here i think is totally clear hunter doesnt need revamp, or at least that kind of revamp, that changes the class completly.
In pvmp? Oh yes we need changes, but are not like this.
The only we deserve is what they took long time ago and wasnt fair, our DF ic.
With cry of the hunter we have another chance every 2 mins, i didnt test the skill but if the run speed stacks with fleetness its going to be pretty OP.
I almost use +10% run speed always and i am very OP. ofc when i got a melee they can get me down easily, but if we are talking 1 vs 1 , i got down even 13 ranks (wargs/reavers)
If u know how to play hunter in ett (ens, using the stealth and the surprise factor, its a real OP class.
You can easily kill somebody in less than 5 seconds...you know what we talking for?
I can kill a greenie before he notice where I am.
So, imo the only changes we need is to fix animations from a few skills and let us use a few of them on the move (intentn concentation mainly).
