    Auction House Background Sound Effects

Has anyone ever cranked up the sound effects volume inside a tavern or auction house and listened to what is supposed to be background noise? It sounds like a bunch of men and women sitting in a restaraunt having dinner, complete with clanking cutlery. Listen closely to what they are saying, it sounds like a very interesting conversation, however, nothing to do with LOTR, and probably recorded after 2010 by the subject of their conversations.

A lot of us feel that the background conversation is something that was recorded in the Turbine corporate cafeteria. Apparently a lot of the audio is done in house by Turbine employees in their sound stage. For music, background sounds and even NPC dialogue.

Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

    "Where ya goin'?"
    "Isabelle! Isabelle!"
"I need to find someone to drive me."
    "Where is the f*cking -something-"

    It drives me nuts.

In the sea without lees standeth the Bird of Hermes.
When all his feathers be from him gone, He standeth still here as a stone.
Here is now both white and red, And all so the stone to quicken the dead

The Bird of Hermes is my name, Eating my wings to make me tame.

I must agree they didn't have serious RP in mind when they used this audio track.
Not only do you hear the same audio track in the auction houses, you also find it in other places, like the small little legendary shop in Stangard... quite funny to hear a lot of talking and you look around and you are in a very small room with 2 NPCs.
Anyway, that doesn't bother me that much... the conversation does however.

The topics they are talking about... *facepalms*
The only slightly middle earth thing they mention is "shepherd's pie", which is great apparently.

Talking about cars, checking the site, flying, hotel rooms at 2 AM in the morning, hitting an antenna, getting a bus, thank God, Botswana (might have misunderstood that one)... and off course, let's not forget "Isabelle"...
Yes, Isabelle, he did come and see you at something-something...

Seriously though, it would be grand if Turbine could change that into something more Middle Earth and less New York café... and get some folks together (doesn't even need to be voice actors). Some suggestions perhaps: dwarves arguing about Balin's expedition... A group of Elves discussing prose... Hobbits talking about (and laughing at) the events at the Green Dragon the other day.... , maybe one of them shouting he has fresh onions on offer... a group of Men discussing the recent troubles in Bree, their journeys in the wild, etc... you get the idea...

I'm convinced many of folks at Turbine would be up for this and it wouldn't take too much trouble to do at all.
I'm sure even a group of lotro players could get together and do this.

After all, Turbine's Middle Earth strives to be as immersive as possible... so please, please get rid of this modern day New York café jabber and replace it with something that says Middle Earth.

    Cheers!

It's going away when Rohan arrives, luckily. So, nothing to see here (also there's other threads about this)

Like the battle sounds it DOESN'T fit. The Auction house stuff sounds like I'm in an office building, not an Auction Hall. The battles you can hear big cats roaring and stuff---with no cats around. Some strange stuff basically.

    NO MORE LEGENDARIES - This isn't a job, it's a game.

Yes. And every few weeks someone posts that says "Hey! Did you ever listen to the background noise in the Auction House?" as if they were the first person to discover it. I guess nobody does a forum search to see if their question has been already answered anymore?

Well, some conversations you might get.

    Shire Ale House
"And that Meadowsweet Bungle, that's the fourth different hobbit lad I've seen her with this week. They say she shaves her toes you know, no better than she ought to be. New dresses every month too, its disgusting."

    Rivendell Hall of Fire
"And apparently Elladan got caught scrying on Galadriel in her bath using the palantir in Fornost. Master Elrond says he can't go to the Undying Lands until he apologises and you know what, Elladan hasn't even stopped grinning yet."

    Thorin's Hall
"Anyone who can't neck more than fifteen is an sitting can't got to Moria he said" And that's why I'm still here, and not Balrog dung.

    etc
