Movement keys stops working when I strafe using right mouse button

    Hello:

So I've been playing for awhile and suddenly a new problem has arisen.

As I am a champion and I have a friend healer usually with me, my style of play is to gather large groups of mobs and then AOE them down. This naturally requires lots of precise running from mob to mob, aggroing them and grouping them up. To do this, I have set my movement keys to the arrow keys on my keyboard. While moving with the arrow keys, I continuously use the preset mouse function of holding down the right mouse key which allows me to strafe on demand while moving. It has always worked well and gives me much more freedom of movement and control.

Recently an issue has arisen that if I actually click the right mouse button FIRST before hitting the up arrow key (forward) my character will not register that the forward moving key is being pressed and will just stand there and not move. It still recognizes right and left, but not forward. If I rebind my forward movement to another key, it works fine no matter which order I press it, whether before or after I hold down the right mouse button. Why does this work fine for other keys, but when I use the up arrow for forward movement, it only works correctly if I do it in one order: key first, then right mouse? It used to work fine no matter what order I did it. This may sound a bit ticky-tack, but it could make the 1 second difference between me getting to my healer in time to pull agro off him or him dying while I just stand there. Also, it's just plain frustrating!

I have always used the arrow keys for movement and I do not want to change.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

There are some problems with the interface code for camera, movement and mouse in Lotro. My recommendation is never combine key movement commands with mouse operations. It is not just Lotro that have problems in this area.

Swtor is famous for your camera spinning 360 making you dizzy. Or your character auto running forward. The only way to fix it is to log out and back in.

Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.

At least for me, just logging out and back in does not fix it. I have to restart the client before the problem goes away. I have this problem pop up every few weeks,

My random input-stops-working-properly is the camera-zoom-on-mouse-scrollwheel that occasionally stops working until a full restart happens. The scrollwheel still scrolls chat and list elements but won't zoom the camera in or out.

I think the big takeaway from Yula's comment is this:

If you're having these problems frequently, the best way to get rid of them is to adjust your movement keys to not use the combination at all.

    Thumbs up

Boy, you guys aren't kidding about the UI in this game. Beyond what I already told you was the problem, I've had keys randomly in the middle of gameplay remap to different function and not being able to bring up the system menu to log out before.

Like you guys suggested, of these problems, all it took was a log out (a complete client restart) and the problem would go away. But, unfortunately my right click mouse issue persisted and was not fixed by logging out.

However, out of desperation today, I set all my keys back to default. And lo and behold, problem solved. My forward key now workslike before, regardless of whether I push right mouse button first or second!!!! YAY!!!

I have no idea what switching to default keys did, as I havent made any changes to the UI or keymapping for several months now. So, I'll chalk it up to that ol' pesky buggy UI of LOTRO and keep my fingers crossed ot won't happen again.

Thanks very much for the feedback and help!
