Summer Festival 2012 end date and Dwarf keg-race status?
The in-game splash screens indicate the summer festival ends on the 10th, but the calendar shows that it has been extended to the 16th. Wondering if the calendar is accurate or not?
Related to the possible festival extension, has there been any word on when or even if the dwarf keg-race will be fixed?
Depending on the exact moment I enter the instance, I can sometimes see the dwarf racers actually racing, but usually it is the same situation since the festival went live of NPCs being visible for 2 minutes and disappearing for 6 minutes with the horse outside doing the same.
Last week, the calendar showed 11p on the 9th as the end time. On Friday, it changed to the 16th, but there was no official announcement of an extension.
I believe most of the time the festivals end at 12:00am EST. But 51 minutes later as I log in, it is still ongoing. This is very strange.
Also, do not expect a fix to the keg races to be attempted until next summer. It is a lost cause for 2012. Too broken for Turbine to now fix with minimal manpower (as everyone else is devoted to RoR).
My guess is a communication error somewhere along the line; I'd bet on the festival being up until the 16'th.
As far as the dwarf races, 2013. Probably.

The part I was interested in I only got one shot at; apparently, but due to people just not wanting to leave me be to fish, I didn't get it done. There is a 28 day cool down for it.
It's one thing to have an event bugged so you can't complete it, it's quite another to not be able to complete an event because of harassment.
Oh Gawd I hope it's done with. I did enough to get a mount for 1 alt and that's all I care to do this year.
Ah you lucky one! My chars forced me to get them all their horseys, BOTH horseys, mind you! And the whole server watching me being treated so and not interfering! Next time I expect the community to remind me who the boss is within myself: Who am I? - and if so: how many?

The main fishing event. You have a limited time to run around and collect certain fish. In each area you could fish there was a timed fishing event you had to do to get the fish for the main event. Each of those areas had a 7 hour cool down. Any sort of harassment that burnt your fishing time made it less likely you would get the needed fish before your time ran out. I ran out of time before I could get all the fish needed for the main fishing event because people were having a grand time burning my fishing time.

I don't know what are you talking about, since what you said is factually incorrect. The main fishing event, as you call it, has two parts: during the first part, you are asked to get 3 different types of fishes (3 Amberjacks, 3 Luillims and 3 Drums) at 3 different spots (Thorin's, Celondim and the pond South of Bree, respectively). You have to do them in that order, and there's no time limit.
Once you've completed that task, you return to the Hobbit in Bywater and then you can try the second part, which is repeatable daily: you talk to the Quartermasters located near the 3 fishing spots already mentioned, plus the Hobbit one, and then you have 20 minutes to catch as many barterable and rare fishes as you can (10 minutes in the Bywater spot). Once the time runs out, you just have to wait to the server 'day' to end, and then you can repeat it again.
The only quests that have a 1 month cooldown are those meant to be done only once during the Festival duration, like the 'vector' quest that leads players to speak with the NPCs at the Shire and Bree-fields horse-races. And, of course, they can't be failed because they don't have any time limit.
So, don't let your rage against the so-called "forced emotes" cloud your judgment and gather your facts before speaking non-sense.

You are not the only one i am fighting it too as of now only one char has both horses, but another one buggers me to get it too ;p third one can't ride so.....
.. and i just had the keg race to complete which i had hopes they would fix but yes i can only hope it has been fixed next year and as far as i know there has not been any information why the festival has been extended and since it's clearly not working as intended and there is no fix in the near future leaves me thinking... why keep it up running.. *getting some sleep*

The calendar is accurate. The scheduled end of the festival is Monday September 17 (you are likely in a different time zone, thus why it says the 16th to you).
As far as the Dwarf races, the news isn't as good.
Despite repeated attempts to address the issue with the Dwarf Keg race we’ve come to the realization that whatever is causing the problem is at such a low level that it will require the event to be rebuilt from the ground up. We regret that this means it will not be possible to fix it before the end of the festival.

Yes! Extra time to fall asleep fishing (good gosh, who decided to change the animation to be so long?)

As distasteful as the emote is at times, I do think that it should be available during the festival. After winning a bet on Mudric, my burg was one dwarf away from her lucky duck title. /blames the dorfs again

Ah, no. 16 days ago that said 28days, and I haven't been able to do any of the timed events since the time for this one ran out. The vendors don't give me the timed event option.
More over my event called for 10 each of those fish plus 2 other fish because it had 5 spots to fish at. We are obviously comparing 2 different events.

That picture is not showing any of the fishing quests. It's just the "walk-to-the-fishing-hole-and-talk-to-the-NPC-to-start-the-fishing-quest-that-will-start-all-the-timed-fishing-quests" quest You can only do that quest once. It's to show you where to go to start the fishing quest.
The "event" where you need 10 of each fish, isn't that the deed called Fortunate Festival Fishes? If you fish in all the spots you have a chance of sometimes getting rare fish called Starry Flounder, Golden Redfish, Silver Haddock and Celebhal.
Anyway, I'm not sure I understand your problem correctly because I'm not a native english speaker, so I'll just go through step-by-step how the fishing quest works and you can ignore what you already know
1. There's the quest you have in your picture that tells you to go talk to an NPC called Neddie Grub at Bywater. talk to him and turn in that quest, and start the quest called "Stocking the Pond"
2. Go to Thorin's Hall (inside near the waterfall) and fish until you have three Amberjack, then fish for three Luillim in Celondim. After that, go to the pond somewhere south of Bree and fish for three Drum fishes. This quest is not timed. Also, you'll know when you have found the right spot because text saying something along the lines of "this is a good place to fish" will appear on your screen.
3. Go back to Neddie Grub in Bywater and turn in the quest. Then the timed quests should be available from NPC's in all the spots you went fishing, and also in Bywater

I believe "To the Fishing Hole" comes up every year and is completable "once" "Every" year.
"Stocking the pond" is done once "EVER" Period, end of story.
After "Stocking the Pond" is complete, you have access to the rest of the repeatable quests.
If you failed "Stocking the Pond", as it sounds...Go back to Neddie Grub to retry...not Ned Longbottom.
I had the stocking the pond one done ages ago. First day.
"The "event" where you need 10 of each fish, isn't that the deed called Fortunate Festival Fishes?" Silmelin
That would be the one I was referring to. My time ran out on that, I can't pick it up again; probably because I can't find it. And I haven't been able to do any of the time fishing events since it's time ran out.
My bad as that was the only fishing event I could find listed.
This was actually the only part of the festival that interested me; although I did chug a lot of beer lol
I am a Festival addict. Next year I look forward to the Dwarf Race being fixed so I can get that "heave" emote, luckily I managed to get it on 2 characters last year. I also agree with the suggestion of having it as a Lottery prize. Thanks to all the Turbine staff for making this game so amazing, keep up the good work.

While fixing the Dwarf Keg race for next year, please also finally fix the Celebrating Sunshine deed that for some characters has been broken since 2009. This is the fourth Summer Festival without a fix and I continue to bug it each year to no avail. A fix was worked on and then removed from a hotfix 3 years ago (as indicated in early revisions of the patch notes), so Turbine is, or at least was, aware of this issue. Also, I'm not the only player with a character in this condition.
Ok now I am completely confused. I have the deed, some fishing event ran out of time a couple of weeks ago; apparently I don't know which one. But none of the quartermasters are giving me the "the pond" timed events now, they go right to the barter menu.

What quests do you have in the Festival directory in your quest log window? Is "Stocking the Pond" one of them, for instance?
Bummer it won't be fixed, but thanks for the heads up. Funny enough, last year I didn't finish the last part of the deed with the dwarfs and thought to myself; 'I'll save it for next year.' Guess I will be doing that again. Something to look forward to. :P

The deed can't ever run out of time since there's no timer on it. It's in the deed log
I don't think you can catch any of those rare fishes until you start the fishing quests though.
No one will give you any timed fishing quests unless you first do the Stocking The Pond quest in Bywater. Did you do that one? It's not timed. Check what quests you have in your quest log under Festival and see if it's there
None, as I said I did the stocking the pond the day after the festival started.
This is only effecting my main character, he is the only one I grabbed all the fishing deeds/quests/event with at the start of the festival.

So, if you go to one of the 4 fishing locations at which a daily fishing quest can be picked up (after completing "Stocking the Pond"), do you see a quest ring over the quest giver's head?
For example, what about Neddie Grubb at the fishing hut just north of Bywater? Does he have a quest for you? If not, you may want to set your quest log to show completed quests, and see if "Stocking the Pond" is actually listed in the Festival directory. Whether it is or not, you might have experienced a glitch, and should report it.

You keep saying you ran out of time during a quest about collecting 10 different fishes. There's no such a quest. As others have mentioned, there's a deed (unlimited time) about catching 10 of each type of Rare fish at each fishing location. You say you completed Stocking the Pond at the start of the festival. Just to be on the safe side, double-check that it shows when you click on Show Completed Quests, as Ekleipsis suggested.
Until you do that, this is just speculation from my part, but if the Quartermasters don't show the ring quest over their heads for you, it seems to me it somehow glitched for you. BUT you also say one of the fishing quests timed out for you. That means you did indeed complete Stocking the Pond and was doing one of the timed quests (that cannot be failed, because there's no goal apart from trying to catch as many barterable fishes - including the Rare ones - as you can in the allocated time). Those are repeatable daily, anyway, so you should be able, at the very least, to see the "ring with hour-glass" above the Quartermasters' heads.
So, either you cancelled the Stocking the Pond quest before completing it (and that's why it doesn't show in your current quest log) or you completed it but you had some kind of glitch.
Remember that the deed "Festival Fishes" is under the tab "hobbies", not under "race, social". So, if you've started it (by catching at least one of the rare fish), it should be there.
So, if you go to one of the 4 fishing locations at which a daily fishing quest can be picked up (after completing "Stocking the Pond"), do you see a quest ring over the quest giver's head?
No, that is the issue.
I can only assume the event/quest that ran out was the one for 3 fish to be gotten in a certain order. I saw the popup that said my time had run out on some fishing event but I was a bit too busy to read it. Since then I haven't been able to do any of the timed events, the quartermasters don't give me the option. When I click on them it goes straight to the trade menu.
Was pleasantly surprised the festival did not end on the 10th. One more day of deliveries got one of my characters to kindred with the Inn League! I am enemy to the Ale Association, why don't they attack me or at least spit in my ale? (Made the mistake of doing the AA quest before IL was kindred. If you run your rep down to rock bottom, it does not go any lower with subsequent deliveries, then do the 10K AA quest to bring you out of Enemy.)
I can only assume the event/quest that ran out was the one for 3 fish to be gotten in a certain order.
That quest (i) doesn't have a time limit so cannot "run out" and (ii) is showing as completed (it's "Stocking The Pond") in your quest log image.
Did you complete it last year? If so, you should be able to take the 4 timed fishing Qs right away this festival - you only ever have to do "Stocking The Pond" once.
If you completed it for the first time this year yet do not have the 4 timed quests from the quartermasters in the 4 areas then it has glitched for you. I haven't heard of or read about anyone else having such a problem.
You must have been able to take at least one of the 4 timed quests once because that's the only way you can have seen a message saying your time was up.

Actually I did several of the timed fishing events.
And I'll have to agree something glitched some place. I never left in the middle of any of the timed events. Hadn't been fishing for hours when the times up popup happened; if I remember right I was doing quests else where waiting on the cool down for the timed fishing events. That is why I am clueless of what the time ran out on, or why the quartermasters don't give me the event option now.
The only thing I can assume is it is glitched out for my main character because the rest work fine.
Logged in this morning to a very pleasant surprise. When I logged it to the game it took a bit of time to run through the loading proses to log in, I thought maybe there had been a minor up date or something. I started with my hunter to gather some rowen wood for a wood worker recipe, running past the lake I saw the quartermaster had a ring over his head so I ran up to him. Yup I can do the timed fishing now
