As some of you may know, the MMO City of Heroes is closing. On one of their servers there was an active RP community which is now looking for a new home. Some of them are considering LOTRO, and in particular, Landroval since this is an RP server.
I have mentioned this to a couple of kinships with some positive response and wanted to open this up to the community at large.
We are going to host a Welcome to LOTRO/Landroval party in-game for new arrivals to LOTRO. This is not just for people coming from CoH, even though that was the inspiration.
It will be held at the Party Tree in Hobbiton-Bywater in The Shire on Saturday, September 15 at 11:00PM UTC. (That’s 4:00PM my time…you can figure out your time from UTC.)
I’ll tell you straight out that I have no idea how many people will be there, either new to LOTRO or welcoming them. All I can say for certain is that I’ll be there and others have shown interest.
I’ve never been good at organizing RP events, so I would ask that if you think this is a good idea, pass it along. And post “bumps” on this thread to keep it where it can be seen.

I'm one of the "refuges" from City of Heroes.After hearing about the closing announcement, a friend of mine mentioned that I should try this game next.
Heard alot of good things about LOTRO in the past (Being an ex-WoW player, this was one of the games that came up in comparison.) so I had at least some rudimentary knowledge of how the game worked. After a bit of reading and forum lurking (plus watched a great review by ChaosD1 from MMO Grinder), I decided to roll my brand new Guardian on Landroval.
I just hit level 21 last night and so far I think I like it here

Welcome to Landroval. I played COH mostly on Virtue.
Me, too. Virtue was my main server. Although I wasn't much of an RPer (Mostly I would just invent an origin story for my character and work out what their personality would be. Pretty much what I did for tabletop games.) I found it to be a warm, friendly and open community, a far cry from my days playing WoW. I will miss my first lvl 50 character (Dual Blade/Ice stalker) though
Another Virtuite here, though I've been playing LOTRO since beta. CoH and LOTRO are the only two games I play with any regularity. I even recreated a couple of my heroes here. Landroval is a wonderful server for RPers.
That being said, I'm still hopeful for City of Heroes and try to remain optimistic.
