How can my boyfriend and I play as a couple in LOTRO?
My boyfriend and I have just started this game a day ago and what we found frustrating is the fact we can't seem to play this as a couple together. We are both on different parts of the world in LOTRO. We joined so we can play like in DDO. He's a human and I'm an elf. Anyone can help us figure out how to play this together and keep our races we'd really appreciate it in advance thank you so much.
Those 2 races start in different sections of the world, but you can play together, if you go to a stable master you can travel to Combe to join up with him or he can go to Celondim to meet with you. Alternately if you level separately to approximately level 14-15 the quests will bring you together in Bree.

All you have to do is finish the introduction, I believe, and you can both go wherever you want. The stablemaster in Thorin's Gate should give you an option to travel to Bree.
Work like no one is watching, dance like you don't need the money...
in celendim the starter area for elf you will see an npc called a stablemaster (on the map he will have a horse head symbol), he will also be surrounded by horses. they will let you rent a horse to travel to other starter areas. you can take a horse to bree and he can meet you there. it can be one of those airport moments where the couple hug and kiss in front of everyone. in this case you will just spam the chatlog with emotes lol. should let you know the swift travel actually more teleports you while regular travel you will ride the horse the whole way.
It's very easy, u2 have to choose which beginning area u wanna quest in, you can quest together in the humans area or in the elf are. The questing area is different for each race only in the beginning till some lvl 14-15. After that you both will meet in Bree and have same quests. I play with my hubby and he is elf and I am human. We just simply started to do the beginning quests in the humans are for example just cuz we think that area is easier , but it's totally up to u to choose where u2 should quest. Hope this helps you. Happy hunting !
Different races do have different starting places (after the tutorial area), but everyone comes together after a while in Bree. That being said you don't have to wait to play together. There is nothing forcing you to necessarily start at your beginning area. As a human he was probably sent out into the world in Archet, and Elves start in Erid Luin. One of you can simply run, or use the stable masters to travel to the other persons area and then you will be together. My husband and I have played through the whole game together, and it has been lots of fun. I hope you guys have as much fun as we have.
U can also get kinda married in the game if u go to a vendor tht says notary , there u can change ur last names the same or u could adopt him but he would be ur child.
Since you started as a man and an elf and don't watch to switch, you must complete the tutorial and the intro instance alone. You'll complete the intro instance at level 5 or 6. After that, you will be in the real world, and one of you can take a horse and run to the other.
A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are
I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war, but I must have won
One minor thing you have to consider to as I have first hand experience with this, is that if you create a class and go to another racial starter area that does not have that class, there will be no trainers to get your skills from.
For example, if he started a Captain, then met you over in Ered Luin to duo quests, there will be no captain trainers until you get to Bree where, like many others have mentioned, all classes/races go through to continue their path in Middle Earth.
My fiance and I did the duo thing for a while and it was a ton of fun, I hope you guys enjoy it too!
LOL...wish I knew this stuff back when me and my sweetheart started. But instead, we were both around lvl 12 when we decided to meet up in game. She is a hobbit and I'm a dwarf, so that helped that we had a closer place to meet up, somewhere around the Rushhock Bog. From there we ran again on foot all the way to Bree, still clueless about rental rides. Needless to say we eventually seperated and finished our start areas, met back up in Bree, by this time we found out about rentals. We now have 3 pairs of alts that we quest together with and it has been a blast. But finish your start area first before questing together in Bree. There are some deeds and such that are more beneficial to your race in your own starting area...some you can get in others, but deeds are more geared for races in their starting areas...quest too.
Chatting in game is fine, but if your pc can handle it I'd suggest skyping. It has a small pop out window and you can set the game to window mode and position the pop out somewhere not in the way of your game. Makes communication much more easier for questing.
My husband and I run characters together all the time. In fact, we leveled his hunter and my guard from the mid-40s to level cap over the past couple of months.
All you need to do is finish your starter areas - they are specific to your race - and they are super quick - you'll be done by level 5 or 6 or so. Then you can meet-up in whatever area and start questing as a fellowship.
When you fellowship - you can use the fellowship chat channel - or something like vent unless you're in the same room (my husband and I are only a couple feet apart when we play so chatting is pretty easy - but we're spoiled that way!).
There are lots of girlfriend/boyfriend, husband/wife, sig other duos who play together. You just need to finish that starter area first. Enjoy!

This isn't exactly accurate. In the case of Captains and Burglars, trainers are located in both Thorin's Hall and Celondim. They are notably absent from Gondamon, however, which is probably what you're referring to, and likely a fluke.
I believe the only class trainers in the Shire are in the Michel Delving training hall, which has trainers for all classes. I haven't checked Archet and Combe's training areas for all class trainers, but Bree isn't very far away if one is missing.

Exactly what keeker said
Boyfriend and I did the same thing as the op and we were like - oh no! ..... facepalm.

This. You have to finish the introduction instance before you can play together using these races. You will get to level 5 or 6 depending on if you do all the side quests in the introduction. Dwarves and Elves share the same introduction, as do Hobbits and Men. If you chose to play as those sets of races, you could be able to play together from the very beginning. It will only take about a half hour of game time to complete the introduction, then one of you can opt to join the other by taking a swift travel from one the Stable Master as others have said.

I do believe there is at least one captain trainer in Ered Luin. I'm not 100% sure about Celondim, but there is certainly one in Thorin's Hall. I don't think it matters where you are, but there is always going to be a trainer for each class in every given starting hub. Some are just easier to find than others.

No offense, but this is not so. There is a Captain and Burglar trainer in Celondim and Thorin's hall. Elves cannot play Captains. This may be true though for the reverse since Warden's and Rune keeper's are "purchased" classes but I don't recall for certain.
Looks like the signatures are broken ... All of my craft skills are maxed.
