hello.
i took a break from lotro and im returning. i played some wow in the mean time. and i hated the questing. iw never been a hige lvl characther in lotro. beacuse i cant stick with one characther i always make a new one..hehe. so i havent seen the 20+ quests.. so my question is. is lotro questing fun for you?
thanks for answers
I really love questing, but i have the same problem, i can't stick to one character hehe. I have one lvl 75 but im constantly making alts just so i could quest and explore
Not really, its always just bring this, kill those, talk to this. I understand that in Middle-earth we cant have really funny quests with war-wanting penguins, ape kings etc... but little more puzzles or some different tasks like preparing some adventure/training for someone would be really nice.
Questing is the same in every game.... go kill 20 of those, bring me their hides. Go slay 20 brigands, bring me their sword sheaths. Go kill the boss, bring me his head. Go collect 20 pieces of wood, moss, water samples, swamp gas, air quality samples, coffee grinds, and seagull beaks.
Same in every game. How else will you get XP?
The benefit to LOTRO, is that there is an Epic storyline, beautiful scenery and it's Middle-Earth.
There is atleast one game (idk if i can name other games here) which doesnt follow such boring pattern. And i would really welcome if Turbine would check it out and adopt something of it.
Plot of one quest:
You are caught by zoo-keeper that he suspect penguins of planning something and send you to field nearby to investigate it. You will indeed find there 2 penguins dressed up as sheep. You will soon learn location of their hidden base, make yourself penguin outfit and infiltrate it. Sneak into their planning room, overhear plans and finally escape. All that via sneaking, tricking guards and solving puzzles (locks).
Or another one:
You discover old factory with loads of machines nobody knows how to operate. And its only up to you to discover it via series of brain-stretching puzzles.
Oh, once someone try quests there, there is no way back :-(

No I don't like the questing. Nice quests over all but it's too structured for my taste so I live on the creepside. (where they have added more questing...curse you Turbine!).
Ancient spider of the moors (5 years and counting). I miss Nidor....
I always have mini-games or mini-goals aside in mind while I am questing, and questing is simply a means to an end.
I have class deeds / slayer deeds / LI upgrades / equipment /leveling wants etc as primary goals in mind so I don't really think about the quest I'm doing, but all of the other things that are going on.
That said, I only like to quest when I'm gaining levels, because it offers so much more experience. After I hit cap, I have a hard time questing for the sake of it. I haven't done any Great River quests (aside from the Limlight repeatables) on my RK, so when the level cap raises, I'll more than likely finish the quests there to help me level.
