What will Rohan be for me?

Rohan is where I want to be! As soon as I heard about it I logged back on to lotro and started my new account in my usual casual manor.

I previously played in europe under codemasters but didn't get properly migrated (I was on tour during the Account migration period). Starting again was too much hassle even though I was handsomely compensated with TP ect. I was previously level 65 on two chars, and had pretty much been everywhere, done everything, had fun!

I have slowly (over a year or two on and off) arrived at lvl 50 with a new character and class, which was interesting in some ways, but tbh, most of the content/ game hasnt really changed since release in '07. Apart from the store being shoved down our throats, a revamped starting area, new content for end game players (which is nothing for me at the moment) and a store. Oh did i mention that already? Oops. Lots of you will fall on your knees at this point and say, LOADS has changed. Like Skirmishes for example, er, new instance finder ect. Oh Yipeee! Turbine has looked in the suggestions forum for once and used at least 1% of their monthly intake for one months revenue to give the community exactly what it asked for! CHeeeers.

It would of been nice to see a few new quest packs/ regions released for areas below the end level to provide more options for players with alts, maybe some new overhauls to systems like combat (flashy animations, new skill sets or even something more fluid for older classes seeing as an RK can run and shoot, why cant a hunter?) , and perhaps even PvP for low level players like in Swtor, Wow and GW2 too name a few. (Ohh wait I can pretend to PvP and be an Orc!

Instead we get yet another expansion to the end game. Cool. So can I ride around Bree Land on my pony mashing up mobs? Can I experience abit of Rohan at a lower level? Do I get abit of an overhaul in some areas just to bring them up to date with the so called "technology boundary pushing" at the other end?. Will things change for me at all? Probably not. OH well I'll have to level up then. Through Moria, Through Mirkwood, Through Isenguard and then finally Rohan! Looks like I'll be keeping my £50 for just a while longer then!

3 weeks untill Guild Wars 2. And its basically free. Mmmm Tempting. I am getting rather bored of the grind now. Shame! Lord of the Rings is by far my favorite fantasy world. And it probably wouldn't take much to make an MMO of it really something outstanding! Come on Turbine!

Im sorry but i dont quite understand why your complaining, you still have three new zones you can go through and you want new lower content? You still have a lot of new Armour, weapons, solo quests, Story lines, raids and regions coming your way.
Its unreasonable to be expecting new content for a toon thats 25 levels below the expansions entry level.

Sounds like you don't enjoy Lotro to begin with so why even bother trying to like it?

I can comment on some statements though, there is enough low level content to level to 50 two times over, also there has been revamps on Evendim, Fornost, Moria p1 and as you said newbie places also they have fixed more live NPC's and animations and also texture on Hobbits and Dwarves atleast, they have opened up some houses in Bree and also alocated out some quests all over Bree. We also have most Instances scaled so you can do most instances at your level.

How do you know there isn't anything new for the lower levels? They have only announced what is new for Rohan, that what is interesting for the old players and what will await new players who is still playing to se Moria, Mirkwood and Isengard.

About PvP, still this game is not made for PvP, PvP is more like a minigame for Lotro and GW and GW2 is a PvP-game. If you play as MonsterPlayer is as serious as anything else, I know a few players who only plays Creeps and PvP's in EM.

Hunters can't run and shoot? Well they can with skills that don't have inductions, I would like to se a hunter run-aim-shoot and also it's for the mechanic of the class, hunters are actually doing more DPS than an RK.
If an RK would aim to do lot's of DoT it would be much induction and standing still for the RK too.
Inductions is a good way to build a strategic point of the game.

dont worry. I think I was just getting majorly anoyed with the constant grind. You're right. I don't really enjoy the game much anymore but it's annoying because I think it has the potential to be more enjoyable.

There is obviously a lot of the game that you've not played -- so why does not getting new stuff you've not played matter at all? Seems like a bit of an entitlement attitude. Go play all of the stuff you've not yet done, then come back and ask for more.

It is true that this expansion offers little to non-capped players, but that's been the way since the first expansion and is largely the same for most other MMOs out there. There is plenty of content at lower levels already and 75s tend not to enjoy questing in level 20 or 30 zones as much as in level 75+ ones.

You mentioned revamps. The first part of Moria was recently revamped. Since you are level 50 you likely have not experienced either the old Moria or the new Moria. Sufficed to say, it's quite an experience, particularly the first time through. Why you would want to miss out on that and go through a different region at the same level is beyond me. Lower level regions have also been revamped over the years since F2P, including Bree-land, Lone-lands and Evendim (and not just the starter areas, as you suggest). I expect that trend to continue.

You mentioned choice. Players have been given more choice with each expansion. For example, Enedwaith was re-levelled so you could level there from 60-65 instead of Mirkwood. The Great River will likely be revelled too so that you can level from 70-75 instead of Gap of Rohan and Nan Curunir.

You mentioned the technology upgrades. Turbine has confirmed that many of the upgrades are for the engine and will thus affect the entire world. That means improved trees, water and grass (which parts when you move through it). Graphical improvements, yes, and perhaps not as pronounced as in Rohan where they are designed for, but you should still see a difference.

I think you haven't been around long if you think nothing has changed since the game launched. The game has substantially changed, with lots of new content, new features, new mechanics, new skills, combat changes, class changes, and so forth. Isengard gave us some significant class changes, and many classes were changed a lot before that too. Combat has also changed in every expansion to date, some minor, some less so (the stat cap removal really changed things with Isengard).

why are you all telling me that i havn't been around long enough? if you read my post I say that I originally played the game with two 65's but when the game changed hands from codemasters to turbine i lost my account because i was away on duty for 6 months... I was compensated with some TP to buy the expansions back ect, which was nice, but I lost my characters. Now doing it again I can't really tell an awful lot of difference. I mean why does this dwarf want me to kill 20 glow worms when I could just kill 5. I get the idea. Its such a grind that's all i'm saying!

And yes some of the revamps are very nice. I have been experiencing moria and the difference is very good.

I just wanted to get something from purchasing the expansion. Maybe a way for me to experience it possibly in a minor way. I think in general lots of the new players would want to experience some of the rohan content. I mean surely turbine want to reach a wider audience with a new release. Not just a tunneling end game group of players?

But as usual, you probably will shoot me down. Because after all you have got past the grind. and now you can sit and enjoy the new ROhan area!

I didn't notice the bit about you previously having two 65s, but my comments stand, as your post suggested that you had not been around for all of the substantial changes to the game, including the revamps you are asking for and which we already received several of.

I can understand that, and it's definitely something Turbine should consider for the future. One potential option is for them to add low-level skirmishes that give a taste of Rohan. Turbine did say it is looking at a way of giving low-level players a sample of Mounted Combat (likely through an instance), but that will likely be some time away.

Actually, I started from scratch on my lifetime account, which migrated over from Codemasters, about two to three months ago, and I had to engage in all the content I previously did on this account (the subscription on which I decided to let lapse). That meant levelling up a new character to 75, grinding out virtues to 14, and getting new gear, not to mention levelling crafting, skirmish soldier, and more. I have also created and levelled one of every other class to level 10. Previously I already had several 75s (two on Riddermark), several 65s (7 on Eldar from pre-F2P), and many other characters between 20s and 70s. So I have done this all before many times, and I certainly did notice and appreciate the changes over the years. Yes, there is still some grind in the game that I would like to see axed, but I think the experience has largely improved for all levels of players.

okay. I take on board what you have to say and appreciate your comments. I think it is great that you agree that a taste of rohan should be given to all. Sorry to of sounded rude if i did I didnt mean too.

I look forward to trying out the rest of moria some time soon. Last night I played in the silvertine lodes which actually has changed a heck of alot so i was plesantly suprised.
