Either the patch didn't work completely, or it created a new one.
Turned music on in Dunland. It was working fine. Ported to Thorin's Gate, the music was working fine. Swift travelled to Michel Delving, no music, except that if i turned my speakers to 100% i could just slightley hear the hobbit flute song. So the music was playing but inaudible. Checked all setting and they were at 100%. Adjusted sliders, and no improvement. Entered the pub thinking it would start a new song like usual, but nothing at all played.
Disappointing! One of the reasons I stick with lotro is because of the excellent music.
What about the inane background chatter in the crafting hall, AH and training hall in Galtrev? Very done on the cheap by recording some office chat5 at a social gathering I think. I wonder whop Isobel might be, the name is clearly audible!
The ambient sound transitioning is still bugged as well, as it has been for TWO YEARS now ever since F2P launched. Every time you leave an encampment or whatever in a zone, the sound reverts to the same forest / birds chirping sounds with no music. Only way to fix it is to trigger the "Now Entering xxx" zone transition. Please would you fix this already? Irritates me to no end when I'm running around Moria and hear birds chirping. Completely destroys the immersion.

I think I ran into an issue similar to this today in Dunland. I left Barnavon to do some quests from there, and right out the gate was the sound of heavy Wind blowing, then it abruptly stopped within maybe 10 feet, and birds were chirping, but those flags were still there near me, flapping in the strong wind, yet the wind sound vanished.
Oh yeah, I've had that 'no music, birds chirping' bug for over a year. As mentioned it seems to trigger when you enter 'sub-areas'. As an example, in the Silvertine Lodes it can happen when you enter the Goblin camp there. Going to an entirely different zone, by swift travel or on foot, seems to clear it, if only temporarily.
For me, it's gotten better with yesterday's patch. However, I don't seem to be able to balance the volume of war cries with other sound effects of the battle. If one is alright from the volume, the other is too loud or vice versa. Also, in some areas the background chatter is a bit too loud. But - I can finally hear the IM ping again, that's great! And the setting of other sound effects is much more comfortable now - however, it's not like it used to be... Still, much better!
Yea first of all, I'm really glad i got the sounds back whose volume for some reason scaled down completely wrong, like the IM ping, NPC talk, vendor sounds, and half of the crafting sounds (for whatever reason they couldn't even properly break that one)...
But while there at least is some normal background music again, it still randomly gets switched to another one rather abruptly.
I was grinding some rep items in Sarnur yesterday, and at some places the music of the gondamon skirmish (if I remember it correctly) suddenly starts only to get swapped out again a few steps further...
Also the ambient talk in busy buildings doesn't seem to be affected by any slider other than the overall volume, while the chirping crickets etc. follow the ambient slider.
Oh yea and I also had some ambient sounds persist after logout at the character selection screen xD
I am having a sound problem as well. My music is stuck with what sounds like a guitar looping over the background music in 15 second loops, almost as if it was an old LP record skipping. It's VERY annoying. I figured it was just like the "fog" problem I have when I leave Forochel--everywhere in Middle Earth is foggy until I log out. So I logged out, didn't work, so I tried exiting. That worked for all of 2 minutes. I finally just turned the in game music off, don't like that option very much but that's what I am stuck with for now. Maybe it will go away.
Yes, please fix the music cutting out/defaulting to those horrid ambient birds chirping. It's always the same audio loop; I'm not sure which zone it's *supposed* to belong to, but hearing it inside Moria and Mirkwood makes me want to punch my monitor. I'd be happy to provide a clip of the bugged ambient sound if it would help narrow down why it is breaking.
i have the same problem and made a bug report this morning it seems the fix did not work so it would be a comfort if they have another look into this
i really like the in game music
Either the patch didn't work completely, or it created a new one.
A number of my sound issues were not listed as being fixed in the recent update.
If you look at the patch notes:

These are three very specific sound issues that Turbine targeted to fix. Problems 2 and 3 are not applicable to my gaming experience. Fix 1 seems to be working for me. Turbine did not address the two issues I have with some music pieces being very quiet or ear bleed level. Not only are some pieces much softer or louder than other pieces. The volume of a specific piece will not be the same each time it is played.

not sure if this is the same thing Yula but if I use Alt+Enter to minimize lotro and use the internet, then I maximize lotro again, the music restarts.
which violates this: 2) Sounds should no longer replay when client regains focus.

To be honest, I do not know what problem 2 is. I do not know if problem 2 is fixed or not.
I always have Firefox running in the background. One Firefox session has the Lotro web site open. I switch back and forth between Lotro and Firefox. When I switch to Firefox, Lotro is minimized the game continues to run and play music - the sound is muted - I don't hear what is playing - when I go back - the sound unmutes and I hear the next music notes of whatever music piece the game is playing currently.
I am sure there is a setting to allow Lotro make noise while it is minimized and running. The game becomes a little bit like a PC jukebox. I do not want that. I might have a video playing in Firefox. I want to hear audio track for the video. Not the game music.

The setting for those who are curious is 'enable persistent sound'
Just wanted to say that this continues to be a problem for me. In fact, it seems to be worse. I can't take more than 4-5 steps inside a zone before my music disappears and those awful birds start up.
This weekend, I have been helping my man level his new character and we've been focusing on the epic quest. As such, my hunter is *constantly* porting us from zone to zone--perhaps that has something to do with why my music just will not stay functional?
I don't know. I just know it's incredibly annoying and frustrating to me to have this still ongoing.
To reiterate:
My music ceases entirely, all at once. No 'spiral down' effect. My ambient sounds are replaced by the same track of birds chirping, no matter the zone.
This has happened on two separate computers, one with a separate sound card, one with onboard. Both powerful computers, capable of running on Ultra/DX11. One was an entirely fresh install.

I did a Skirmish for the first time (the 2 tutorial ones). The music was about twice as loud as everywhere else (but sound effects were normal, especially annoying when listening to that AI talking. Holding a big party with loud music while the city is under seige and the defenders need to be able to hear each other to protect the city properly, some citizens are just shameful)

That's why I left Moria at level 56 with half of my quests done, I could not take it anymore.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Civ II rules after all these years......
Besides some that have already been mentioned, one curious sound problem I've run into is the steed of the jester (no, it is not from the Store).
Until recently, when I moved around the steed's bells gave a light jingle jingle jingle, which was a nice touch.
Now however it is an obnoxiously loud CHINGCHINGCHINGCHINGCHINGCHING that has made me switch to another horse as my default. I assume it is equally loud to other players, as it was only after the change that people started asking what the horse is.

I can tell you: indeed it is. I've seen some people ride around with it, and I'm an earphone user: I'm surprised my ears didn't start bleeding everytime I encountered them.
