Enhanced Anonymous mode, and enhanced Ignore List.
I would like it if you could go into enhanced Anonymous mode, where people not on your friends list can not message you, and you cannot see /say chat.
Basically for people being harassed, or just sick of interacting with people, Enhanced Anonymous mode should allow you to not be bothered by anyone in game.
Specifically since /ignore does not work with people that have multiple accounts and characters.
The enhanced Ignore list should ignore all characters on that account, even if it does not display which characters are being ignored.
But while using this "enhanced" feature, you should not be able to post in any public channels. You should only be able to communicate through Kin channel, Officer (if you are an officer) and /tell with friends.
ie.
You are on "Enhanced Anon" and you then type:
/LFF 1/6 LFM for LL Dailies. PST if interested
/Trade WTS (whatever) 1g. PST if interested
/GLFF 10/12 ToO, need tank and cappy (with exp) PST for invite
Three simple example of situations that the Enhanced mode would not work! The reason why public channels should be disabled while using that "enhanced" mode Plus the plain fact that if you go in that mode, you clearly don't want to interact with the open community.
Being able to talk freely but having all answers and replies filtered out does not make sence.
But I agree that if you /ignore one character, it should ignore the account.
Cheers!

Fully Agreed, Enhanced Anon should be quiet time, when you don't want to see anything else in the world that is not friends/kin/fellowship.
I think it works quite nicely by limiting all non wanted input.

There is a chat option that is not connected to Anon that provides a similar functionality. No incoming personal tell except for kin and friends.

I do not see the point of cluttering the options up with choices that flip multiple options at the same time. Nobody is going to remember that this option flips three settings. Nobody is going to remember that they can not reactivate the say channel because they have the bundle on. The customer is going to get annoyed.
A better idea is the creation of a option profile that you can save, name and load. I would like a Bunnyraid profile. It is time consuming to change my settings to improve game play and performance during large group time.
Unless stated otherwise, all content in this post is My Personal Opinion.
The one thing I've always disliked about anon mode is that my friends can still see me sign on and off, so they know I'm online. Sometimes you just don't want to be bugged, but I'm too nice to ignore tells. When I'm super moody I just go play an alt on another server.

What option allows only tells from kin and friends?
Actually it would be more annoying to turn them off one by one and then forget you had them on. If it was just a little click box it would be easy and simple to do.

It's a check box in either the UI settings or Chat options (can't remember) called "Restrict Incoming Tells" or something along those lines.
I've always thought it was stupid for these games to have "/ignore <character>" instead of "/ignore_account <character>"... I'm not trying to ignore SmellyFeet (not a real character - just an example), I'm trying to ignore the player who logs in as SmellyFeet, and I seriously doubt he's going to be any less obnoxious when logged in as another character. Sharing accounts violates the TOS, so that's not an issue anyone should be concerned about.
Turbine actually did offer this capability in their first game, Asheron's Call - it was called "/squelch_account", and I used it every time I wanted to ignore anyone. Unfortunately, some particularly obnoxious people were using /squelch_account to help them find out which characters were on which account so they could get their guilds to harass a player no matter which character they were on. Turbine decided not to offer it on any of their subsequent games. *sigh*
(I don't know the details of how /squelch_account was used to identify characters on an account, but I'd imagine it involved applying it to one character, then using /tells and lots of trial-and-error...)

Options - Chat - Restrict Incoming Tells.

We have to agree to disagree. I find it more annoying to have extra options that do multiple things. It becomes harder to find what I am looking for. Or lose fine configuration capability because the only way to get "Restrict Incoming Tells" is to go Anon.
I would want an UI option to disable display of all bundled options.

The easiest way is via getting two players to cooperate. You get the test subject and both testers into a global chat. TesterA switches on the account squelch. All need you need is TesterB to say "Potential Bunny sent a tell". Tester A - No tell here. Good we found another Yula.

I always have a character or two that nobody knows about. When I'm feeling anti-social (usually after I've spent all day in meetings at work), I log in on one of those, play in uninterrupted bliss for 30 or 60 minutes, and log back out again.
However, it would certainly be nice to have a way to log in without notifying everyone on my friends list, or if that's not doable for some reason... a session-based "/busy <Insert Message Here>" command would work. In the latter case, if someone tried to send me a /tell while I had the "busy" flag on, it would auto-respond with my message. The "busy" flag would be turned off again whenever you log out.

Mylotro already provides enough information to verify the characters are on the same account. My lotro exposes a unique Player ID for every character.
Even anonymous ones.
Not that the account squelch isnt easily circumvented with a new free account. Such is the problem of a free to play game.

You can sort of do this already with /afk.
If you type "/afk I'm busy now." it will respond to tells automatically with that message. While you might not technically be away from the keyboard, the end result is the same. You'll continue to see the tells when you get them, in case there's something urgent you might want to respond to.
The flag and message are both cleared automatically when you log out.

I am aware of how to link all the characters together via Mylotro. Khafar like me played AC. Wondered how Yula in AC figured out which account a character was on. Obviously it is not a quick or as effective as the Mylotro solution. There is no equivalent of Mylotro for AC.

Agreed.
Lotro because of the game design. You can not hide. You can not shut em up.
Once I realized that someone could find all the characters via accessing the Mylotro database. I no longer have a problem with account squelch for Lotro. It will have one nice benefit - you only need one slot to shut the entire account down. I do not think it will help much given the ease of getting a F2P account.
