Ok, so my idea behind this thread was for people to post the name (or names) of characters from Tolkein's world that they always wondered what happened to them after the War of the Ring. Others can then either answer with knowledge the poster doesn't have, or we can speculate about what happened. Just an idea. I'll start with a few;
What happened to The Mouth of Sauron? Did he die when Mordor fell, or flee and live the rest of his life in hiding?
What happened to Bill Ferny? Was he eventually found by rangers or hunters? Or did se bear/wolf maul him to death? (my fingers are crossed for the latter option)
What happened to Prince Imrahil? Did he marry and have children? Was he still considered a "Prince?"
What happened to the Elves of Mirkwood and Thranduil? Did they leave Middle-Earth or remain in Greenwood till the end of days?
What happened to the Grey Company? Did they remain in Gondor to serve Aragorn, or return North to deal with evil there?
What happened to Tom Bombadil and Goldberry? Did they eventually sail West or live in ME till the end of days?
That's a start, any answers or further "what happened" comments are welcomed
My thoughts....
What happened to The Mouth of Sauron? Did he die when Mordor fell, or flee and live the rest of his life in hiding?
- like most of the survivors of Mordor it would be a case of flee and hide from Gondor forever. For Orcs your options are few but humans could run south or east into somewhat friendlier territory, although without the might of Mordor behind you, the welcome there might not be much better.
What happened to Bill Ferny? Was he eventually found by rangers or hunters? Or did se bear/wolf maul him to death? (my fingers are crossed for the latter option)
- The people of Bree wouldn't want him and once Aragorn revived the North Kingdom they would likely have to live a life as bandits and brigands. (I'm hoping for Bill the Pony to kick his head in...)
What happened to Prince Imrahil? Did he marry and have children? Was he still considered a "Prince?"
- probably yes to all but he would swear allegiance to the King of Gondor.
What happened to the Elves of Mirkwood and Thranduil? Did they leave Middle-Earth or remain in Greenwood till the end of days?
- mix of both ? It appears that they have the option to sail West if they wish so it depends on if the 'sea-longing' strikes them like it did with Legolas.
What happened to the Grey Company? Did they remain in Gondor to serve Aragorn, or return North to deal with evil there?
- again I'd say a bit of both. Arargorn had two kingdoms and you need trusty people to run them for you. It mentions in the book that Aragorn and Arwen would regularly move 'court' to the North so, in this case, he could leave Faramir as Steward in Gondor but he would need someone else taking care of Arnor at times. I think he would pick one of the Grey Company, at least until his son was old enough to take the role.
What happened to Tom Bombadil and Goldberry? Did they eventually sail West or live in ME till the end of days?
- without opening the 'who or what is Tom' debate again, the book says that Tom set his boundaries. Essentially the Old Forest and the barrow downs. I expect he stayed in his forest until it vanished, at which point he and Goldberry vanished somewhere with it.

What happened to Prince Imrahil? Did he marry and have children? Was he still considered a "Prince?"
Prince Imrahil who was 64 at the time of the War of the Ring did already have a grandson
And yes he did remain a Prince, that title is used for the head of a noble Gondorian house. Faramir (who was his nephew by the way) was given the title Prince of Ithilien by King Elessar (Aragorn).

As if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns. In dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the North wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.

What happened to the Elves of Mirkwood and Thranduil? Did they leave Middle-Earth or remain in Greenwood till the end of days?
I know this: Thraduil and Celeborn talked after the War of the Ring, and as a result Mirkwood was renamed as Eryn Lasgalen, as a sign of the passing Shadow when the forest needed the name Mirkwood no more. Celeborn didn't sail to the West with Galadriel, but rejoined her later when things in the Elven lands were settled.

Yes, Lothíriel, and they had the son Elfwine. Didn't really surprise me as Éomer said that Arwen was his type (out of the Elf ladies, at least), and I think Lothíriel was something similar in human form.

I think I'll bomb this thread with one of the biggest "What happened to"s in Tolkien's works
Whatever happened to Maglor after he set out to endlessly sing sadly of the loss of his Silmaril?
He drowned when Beleriand disappeared under the sea maybe? Either that or he wandered in ME through the woodlands and people thought he was an ordinary wandering elf? To be honest, the biggest Whatever happened to.... in Tolkein lore is the Entwives I wish we had been allowed to find out. My personal opinion is that they were hidden deep in the Old Forest, or maybe away North of the Shire (Anuminas area)
