I was under the misconception that if a MOB was gray, it wouldn't respond to you unless damaged or aggravated in some way. This seems to no longer be true. I have been attacked without provocation by grays a number of times in the last month or so. Does anyone know why? What has changed? I have 5 characters over 50th level, three are over 70th level and this hasn't ever been a problem before.

Are you using a pet or herald? Their level is lower than yours.
Work like no one is watching, dance like you don't need the money...
No - A champion and three hunters. I do have a captain and she has set off grays with her follower many times so I don't count these among the Gray Revolt.
I don't think the Grays are particularly pretty, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to say they are revolting.
Back on topic: The only place that's happened to me on landscape was in far northwest Forochel, and only a few times. It didn't affect all of the gray mobs. There must have been some kind of weird bug going on.
It is a bug that has existed since the game began that I have experienced on serveral occasions throughout the game world.and well before instances in the game. There was a level 5 goblin near Thorin's hall before they reworkd that area that would attack my level 50(cap at the time) and there is 2 or 3 places in the Misty Mountains that the wargs aand goblins will attack any and all levels so it really isn't anything new to the game but something that you were lucky enough not to have happen. So be careful where you go afk or a grayed out nothing will own you lol.
I thought you meant the USA medal winner uniforms at the Olympics....
I've had gray mobs attack me in Forochel and in the Misty Mountains. I think there was a post a long while back that said to ./bug it with the location.
This has happened to me when I was running to find the location in Thror's Comb to do Draigoch. The grey drakes attacked me once with ranged attacks but didn't follow. I deemed it strange. I don't find it strange when mobs attack in instances though, that's the only other time this happens but it's under normal circumstances.
"It isn't fair, my precious, is it, to ask us what it's got in it's nassty little pocketses?"
I'm just talking about the general game environment. I know the instances are active, I just didn't remember that when I posted (age and alcohol starting to get to the important parts of my brain and all) - no, I'm just collecting craft resources and boom! a Gray attacks me for no reason. I didn't hit or aggro and some I didn't even see until the weapons came out and I'm being chased!

Actually, I think it'd be cool if there was a way to toggle whether or not the grays could see you - it would be much easier to get your slayers finished, for one thing! This is good, though, all of the responses are talking about places where I've been jumped by grays, so Good to Know!
I have had this happen more than a few times. I can't recall all the area, but I would guess that it was most of them. Just every once in awhile they get a little uppity and leap out at you.
If you encounter landscape gray mobs that are aggressive and attack you. Be sure to fill out a bug report" http://forums.lotro.com/new_bug.php?
so that Turbine can fix the mobs. Unfortunately, angry grays is another one of those long lasting persistent problems that Turbine has not been able to totally fix.
