I usually don't bust up a 1v1, but I really have no sympathy for anyone who gets interrupted anywhere but CM. It's not that hard to go somewhere out of the way, I swear some folks 1v1 at tr hs because they WANT to get interrupted. That way they have something they can get upset about, they love being victims.

Yes! Please buy more store brands so Turbine can keep working on the Moors!
Is that really how you think quoting works on forums? Just type in the name and copy paste the rest. Oh god... I'll try to keep my reply light as you people can't be held legally responsible for what you say (I think that's how it works).
On the off chance that I don't use store brands, you sure would look like someone that doesn't know what they're talking about nor understand basic game mechanics. Someone who decided that using a passé line without any new twist on it would somehow get them a pat on the head or helmet from a few friends. Hypothetically. You're welcome to try again before I continue elaborating on this hypothetical situation where I don't actually have any store brands.

Or maybe they're too lazy to walk 50 feet over to Candy Mountain. From my experiences there, something about TRHS makes 1v1ing there feel fun.

I think people were saying in OOC that you guys were using store-bought Brands, so everyone else just went along with the story :P
I think someone is clearly jealous that you're a good Champ, perhaps?
New to this server, but decent amount of experience with 1 on 1 stuff from Lode. Some thoughts:
Candy Mountain is pretty poor geography and not a fun place to be. In addition, with no communication between freeps and creeps, it can be frustrating just sitting at CM waiting for 1 on 1s to happen. Some of the best 1 on 1s I've had are organic fights with people I might not know enough to have any idea how to communicate with them to go to CM.
If you see only two people fighting, if that gets zerged then so be it. However, if 2 people are fighting and others are sitting around watching, it's obviously a 1 on 1 so there's zero reason to zerg that. Yet it happens all the time here and on Silverlode where I came from. Having been on OOC on the side who are zerging, more often than not I hear laughing about how "those 1 on 1ers are probably raging right now." It's really just trolling the moors when you do this, no matter what you want to say differently. Which some people seem to enjoy I guess, but call it what it is.
I've seen CM get zerged here a couple times so I'm not sure that's really the answer.
Place was overrun with rats when we moved in. The spearwives killed the nasty buggers. Now the place is overrun with spearwives. There’s days I want the rats back~Dolorous Edd
not really sure- my boss found it and felt the need to show it to all the carnivores on the crew.
I just saw ears perking up at the mention of bacon so i figured I would put up something with lots of bacon
Figured it might amuse a few folks.

So let me get this straight, as pay back for 1v1's getting zerged, you and your friends decided to group up and flip the map blue? Even though the people that got you all excited had logged off.
How many solo's did your group righteously zerg as pay back?
More importantly did it make you all feel good about yourself?
I guess I'll have to wait for next "We're ANV and we are better than you" video, so I can see your conquest from the point of view of the morally superior.
I think the takeaway is the moment the creeps lost something, they all poutlogged.

Yes, making a group of 6-7 to fight the 20+ that ran over the 1v1s was clearly unfair. Even though the group we were fighting had more healers than we had total members, we still should have broken up our group and gone at them one at a time. The worse our opposition plays, the more we should gimp ourselves so they can keep winning anyways. It is not enough to give odds such that the fight would have been laughably easy if we were on the other side. It is our duty to ensure their gaming experience is one of moral victories and the I-wasn't-able-to-contribute-anything-to-the-fight-since-I-don't-know-how-to-play-my-class-but-I-was-grouped participatory medals.

Yes, very much so. 6k+ renown, 5 deaths as opposed to the much higher death rate that results from gimping at 1v1s.

If I left anything out I'll take it up with you at TR West/vRock in a 1v1 during Prime Time!
It may be too much to hope for but in the absence of rigid rules, why not just use some common sense and courtesy?
If it's a slow time or you spontaneously decide to have a 1v1, you could announce it before you start as part all that bowing, saluting, jumping, w/e at each other. Just a short notice along the lines of: I'm having a 1v1 with XXXXXXXX, please don't interrupt. Thanks you.
When it is a busy time with lots of players, groups and even raids out, having 1v1s in high traffic areas is not a good idea. I'm sure this has been discussed before and there is no ideal spot for 1v1s that take into account travel time, npcs, server lines, etc. but if the choice is either get zerged by a raid or move to a quieter place on the map, then why not move? That way, there is no excuse for a raid or group to jump in and the 1v1ers can all stand around and admire the size of each other's dps in peace.
boring over on windy? must be to chime in with the obvious :P
Just ranked and don't know what to do with myself. Was thinking about coming back here, but I think the forums are a good indication as to how the server is now.

It's pretty bad here. I don't suggest it and with RoR it will get even worse.
There is a simple solution of which Turbine is in complete control over and 1 that would have many salivating.
INSTANCED PVP----- 1v1, 2v2, ..... so on so forth =) problem solved.
will it happen?? I don't know but ask the dev's only they know. However, I do know many who have left the game because of the way pvp has gone so if instanced pvp were to be added, it would surely bring them back. just an FYI Turbine.
I don't think instanced pvp is the answer unless they give huge buffs to creeps in the instance. There is simply not enough in the way of skills and options for creeps to make this a viable solution.
Personally, I don't want freeps and creeps to be equal. The different factions with different abilities makes things unique and engaging; making creep side a clone of freep side would ruin this.

Lotro doesn't have the population to split the pvp community in two.

Or maybe they just start organically in areas where soloers are running into other soloers, and moving a bunch of people who can't communicate to one another that mere "50 feet" isn't quite the easy task you're making it out to be? I'm fairly sure anyone who participates in 1v1s at places like TRWest are aware and accepting of the consequences if a raid/group comes rolling past. But that doesn't mean they can't feel derision for players who will of individual intent repeatedly jump into said 1v1s trying to get easy points or some abstract feeling of self-gratification.
I don't think instanced pvp is the answer unless they give huge buffs to creeps in the instance.
Maybe one way to do it if they base it on the instance interface they could offer T1, T2, T3 options, where you could choose to debuff yourself more and more before going in, to make it more challenging?
For those who 1v1 for the challenge of a good fight without interruptions (most), it seems an instanced 1v1 arena would be great. But overall there's no way it would work because they would need to also implement a system of scoring/stats unique to the instanced 1v1s, so the minority who 1v1 for the epeen could get out of it what they seek; i.e., pointing to an uber war tab "proving" they are the greatest.
Selfishly for those like me that don't 1v1, it would provide a solution because they could then make a sub-forum dedicated to the instanced arena, and all the complaining about 1v1 balance, cheating, skillz, etc. could be out of sight, out of mind. Meanwhile the moors could stay focused on the challenge of building a winning team. Like others who posted, I enjoy the inequity of classes making the team options more fun. But that focus shouldn't totally abandon those who enjoy 1v1s, like it seems the upcoming changes will.
Which is back to the original point of this thread, if you see a 1v1, it's just not that hard to leave it alone. The yellow bar doesn't move anyway, the sooner you learn to not care about points, the more fun you'll have.

Open PvP can work very well. However, contrary to popular belief the quality of open PvP is mostly dictated by the players and only a little bit by the developers. A fact that many players simply don't understand.

Yeah, they would definitely have to do something to even things out a little bit. I dunno. I like the idea in theory but the distinction between sides just will not make it work.
