Dev. Diary Up: "The hunt for a new 1v1 area" Voting thread
The developers diary has now claimed candy mountain as tr rez and the original tr rez as orc camp. We will now need to find a new candy mountain. Take your votes up here for even though we don't have the full landscape of the moors visualized there are still some areas like to the east of tr or another area that will be affected like the plains of gramsfoot area that will have no outpost. I can honestly say that they described the geographical area well but please vote to find the where abouts of a new candy mountain since the mountain will now become a rez. Plz read the developers diary first then submit thoughts or ideas on a CM. Just my reflection on the buffs of keeps/op's and more: if you have seen the open world pvp in Gw2 the moors will kinda feel like that with the given importance they have placed on keep taking. (That's just my reflection but plz don't note that while voting or giving your thoughts or ideas.)

I am Lord Celderon, Leader of the Coldfells Army, Defender of Glan Vràig and I will have vengeance.
Though honestly, with so many extreme buffs to influence fights that players have no way to disable? Almost no point.
^QFT. With the multitude of classes (no mirrors), builds, gear (moors sets etc), audacity (1-15), consumables, rank bonuses, cooldowns and now map control bonuses on top.....I think the notion of any semblance of 1v1 parity will be getting ever thinner come RoR. I'm not even sure Turbine is even attempting any notion of 1v1 balance anymore (zero cost pip cost remorseless? no mention of toning down of certain classes etc)

No pip cost remorseless is there so that Alekerios can feel good about life.

My vote would be COT. Though honestly, with so many extreme buffs to influence fights that players have no way to disable? Almost no point.
This 100%. also, Giving significant buffs to the dominating side? Derp. Whichever side is the more powerful for that book is going to absolutely dominate now. Can't see small group and solo play being viable anymore. Looking at the pvp sets again shows they have no idea.
Not sure if creep maps are going to be looked at now, but with the significant buffs from OP's, they may need to be revisited...
To those that remain after the 25th, enjoy a pvp zone designed by those with no apparent understanding of pvp
Creep changes seem very nice, especially the blackarrow stuff
I wonder how all the PvE for Extra Damage is going to work out though
Assuming DR doesn't apply to the mastery buffs, if those buffs existed on live I suspect I could crit into the 2.5k range with drink deep on a heavy armor wearer with full audacity. Since flat percentage buffs in this game ignore diminishing returns, I suspect this is how it would work. This is before scaled damage for 10 more levels, boosted creep damage, and the acid pip mechanic change (they're doubling the damage bonus from the pips). Honestly, 4k or higher doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility to me assuming full buff stack from the outposts. And this is on a spider. I don't even want to imagine a VT>punctured>revenge combo with full outpost buffs.
I respect that they want the benefits of capturing them to be very good to give people incentives to go get them. Their problem was in not having a diminished benefit. It would be better if the FIRST outpost controlled were 10%, and then each additional outpost added less and less. You STILL want outposts, and you still want to prevent the other side from taking outposts... but there's less steamroll buff stacking.
Either way, it dramatically alters smaller scale (1v1/2v2) fights. They're certainly taking the game back to its SOA raid vs raid roots.
I'd love, as a compromise, for them to have NPC free areas in the delving and have the buffs from keeps/outposts not applied inside the delving. Then the fast travel network down there would be solo/duo central.

I said this on Ridder forums, if they're going to change the map around so much including removing CM then they should just make a designated 1v1 area. Then a player would either lose or be able to opt out of the PvE buffs. The 1v1ing crowd is pretty fair anyway and I can imagine effort being put in to try to balance 1v1s regardless but if Turbine could actually do something the PvMP crowd asks for that'd be nice for a change.
As with every "renewal" of the Ettenmoors, the changes do indeed look somewhat promising.
Unfortunately with the good there is so often the very bad when it comes to Turbine.
I appreciate that they've put some thought into the moors once more but the changes are moving further away from what I want in a PvP MMO. (I know, lotro is 'sposed to be a lore abiding PvE role playing game)
Good luck to them and everyone who decides to stick around.

I agree....if they can add remove buffs at OR, DG etc, it should be no major programming feat to create an area that is "buff free" as a prime solo area.
honestly if you wanted an out of the way spot two suggestions, one right behind tr or in eagle valley, no one uses eagle valley any more, plus u got it close to tr rez and map ins and also gv rez for people who want to come back via safe spot and also my 2nd idea would be the old out posts they're removing.
for eagle valley there is a little entrance next to tr where no eagles are so the creeps wouldnt worry about that or fight closer up towards goldie and the one shots for freeps but using that is at ur discretion because some freeps may use the one shots to their advantage. nother place that is good also is hh, to the west all the way past the river in the back by the rock.
cot is too frequented and would be interrupted because there are people that just shoot to kill.

I vote for no location at all. The new buffs are really going to mess with things and I'm just not sure there's a point anymore. Just wander around the map and find someone or wait til a random 1v1 party starts up (those sometimes happen).
NO MORE LEGENDARIES - This isn't a job, it's a game.
I'm not a huge fan of 1v1's on CM, but partake in them occasionally. I simply think they should create a new arena style mini-zone, in a cave that you have to walk through a doorway to get into. That arena should be equidistant from Grams and GV. Just slap a door on the side of a mountain near the base of the waterfall behind TA or something. And once inside the arena, you can't attack an opposing player without challenging them to a duel, and sparring rules would be in place so combatants can receive no heals or buffs from other friendly players. And of course you can't enter the arena from outside while in combat. And maybe even put a minimum rank restriction (rank 5) to gain entry. You'd still get comms and infamy from defeating opponents, and possibly rezzing wouldn't be allowed inside. So, you lose, you have to walk back. This would keep exploiters at bay.
If Turbine did it right, it could be very successful and popular, especially for players that don't feel like wandering around at the moment and just want to spend a little time having safe and fair 1v1's without getting zerged.
Obviously there would be some opposition from a portion of the player-base for something like this, but nobody would be forced to use it.
Either in between those 3 rocks by GG or near the woods outside GG/SOP where it's flat and mostly open. Probably a better option than CM anyway since people can't jump off it...
And a dedicated 1v1 arena would be ideal for this, however I highly doubt they're going to create one before ROR. And if they do, it's going to be another last minute thing that half of it's potential users would hate because it wouldn't function properly.
