Hey. I hit lvl 50 a few days ago, and I am wondering where to level. I got from 40 to 50 in angmar (mostly solo, it was horrible at first, but i love angmar now). I did some MM but I still have a lot of quests there. I still have some quests in angmar, probably enough to get me to 51 or even 52. Some of my kinnies are saying that I should go straight to moria now, but I don't wanna miss the story of eregion. I dont have the forochel quest pack either.
So is it ok for me to head over to eregion, complete all the quests there and move to moria afterwards? I am also wondering where to move after moria, because I do not have endewaith. I'm guessing lothlorien and after that mirkwood, right?
Also, 1 quick question about moria; is it true that you can only ride goats in there? If so, are there any ways of obtaining goats other than getting kin with Thorins halls (which is pretty hard for me since I dont have forochel :/)?
I apologize for the noob questions and thank you for the answers in advance ^^
Hi, with the Moria revamp, you can easily quest there from lvl 45-63. An early quest gives you a goat-mount that is fairly slow but faster than walking. After getting more rep with a moria faction you can buy a quicker one.
If you hit lvl 63 while still in Moria, you can move to Dunland right away since the quests there start at lvl 66. Also the Epic storyline will get you to Lothlorien and Mirkwood and will also grant you a level or two. Starting lvl 65 you can join the Grey Company from Rivendell and gain even more XP with tha Epic quest line.

For Thorins Hall rep try Sarnur, a dungeon south of TH. I think the mobs are around lvl 45-50 and you can pick up repeatable quests for it in Thorins Hall (in the Northwest of it, where the rep vendors are).
I would do the quests in eregion tell about 51-52 and then head into moria.
And you now can get a goat from a level 51 quest called "To the Dolven-view".
Sarnur really is the best way to get Thorin's Hall rep. But caution, [possible spoiler alert] if you go there get a weapon with ancient dwarf damage. There are beasties lurking deep in Sarnur that are immune to other types of damage.
At level 50 you could go to Echad Dunann in Eregion and start the Walls of Moria quest chain. This is the prologue to Volume II of the Epics and gives you your first legendary weapon and class item. Once you have those, you can choose either to do the quests in Eregion which is a region many people enjoy, or go straight on into Moria itself.
Don't worry if you haven't finished Vol I of the epic. Vol. I is a complete story on its own, so starting Vol. II doesn't spoil the ending for Vol. I if you want to go back and finish it later.
At first glance, your initial Legendaries may not seem much, if any, better than the weapon you already have, but once you raise them a bit and get some relics in them, they'll improve a lot.
Eregion doesn't have much in the way of story. There are a couple cool bits that tie in to the fellowship, but nothing significant.
Back at level 45 you should have (if you haven't) gone into Moria (your kin was steering you correctly) to get your initial legendary items. Then they would have been leveling up with you over the past five levels, instead of just starting out now.
Don't go to the Walls of Moria without seeing the Volume I foreword/prelude which starts with an NPC in front of the Last Homely House in Rivendell. Then go to Echad Dunann and talk to the Dwarf there. After you've gotten both legendaries, then return to complete Volume I. Be forewarned, the Vol. I quests were originally end game, there are a TON of books in them, and you will gain a few levels doing just them.
It won't take you to Eregion, but back to MM and Angmar and Evendim and Forochel and Trollshaws.
If you do all that, you'll be mid-50s, way over leveled for the start of Moria.
It will make it hard to do Moria, as the beginning areas introduce you to it, but if you skip them, you'll be a bit lost. If a kinmate can lead you to the Underground Cellar, you can pick up the quests for the Forgotten Treasury instance and get started with that.
You should also do the Dolven View repeatables, to get legendary scrolls for your items. The catch is, you need drops from MOBs to do those. So it's kind of a chicken and egg thing.
(For others, be sure to not delay the start of Moria, as it just throw a wrench in everything. Lotro is designed with extra content to offer alternate leveling paths, if you want to do Eregion, don't do same level areas in your 40s beforehand.)
On the topic of Sarnur, the goat the intro quests give you has tiny morale, it's pointless, you want to get Thorin's Rep via Sarnur and a goat with 2.5 times the amount of morale.

Just wanted to note, that if you're concerned about riding in Moria, I wouldn't be - not because you simply don't have a goat mount anyway. While it's nice to have one, don't get me wrong! once you get the stable points, moving around's a lot easier. But the main issue I wanted to point out with Moria and goats is just the mobs... you'll drag lots of mobs till you get to know the area(s), which is just like every where else really, til stuff is grey to you. It's just that in Moria, learning the paths can be tricky. if you're good at that, great if you're like me and it took waiting til mobs were grey on your first toon to really learn your way around... well it's not so good to ride regardless. You just get knocked off.
Not saying that's a reason to avoid Moria, or anything like that, just something to be aware of I think
Anyway, good luck in your leveling!

Depending on the repeatables you do, you can reach level 55-57 before entering Moria by doing Foroche/Angmar, Misty Mountains/Eregion and Epic Volume 1. If you have access to all of them, might as well do what quests you can, but eventually you'll have to enter Moria anyway.

I agree. Wait till your mid 50s & half of the Moria content won't be challenging. The only solo content I'd consider doing if I was level 50+ and not in Moria would be polishing off the end of the first epic volume (tho it's so optimised for grouping that mostly an inspiration buffed snorefest for soloing) and possibly grinding TH rep in Sarnur.
Thank you all for the answers. I think I'll ask my "mentor" (a kinnie that really helps me alot) to grind some Sarnur with me and hopefully I'll get rep with TH in no time (I'm already ally or something from just doing little things). I'll check out moria, and if its too hard, I'll just lvl a bit from eregion/MMs/whats left of angmar.
Btw, I got both my LIs in lvl 45, so they're already half-way lvled

Which is a useless low morale one, more a red-herring than helpful sadly. It does not compare to the Thorin's Hall rep goat, readily obtained by a few runs into Sarnur.

I just recently took a Warden up to 75. I'll admit that I'm not big on Angmar at all. Eregion is excellently paced, and quite easy to go from hub to hub. I went through each region and had no problem at all with Moria (was actually a little over-ready by the time I entered the mines).

That's not really true anymore in the parts of Moria that have been revamped. Just taking another alt through and it's almost spooky how empty most of the halls and stairways are now. Areas which I remember not bothering with my goats at all, just killing my way along, are now a breeze to ride through. Not entirely sure I like it, although it could get tiresome the killing the same mobs over and over just to get anywhere.
