So, finally talked my little group into trying out LOTRO, and made it to the Inn of the Forsaken. We are all running premium accounts (3 of us), and the recent sale of quest packs coupled with some cheap TP with the RoR expansion lead us to grabbing the instance and trying it out.
I just have to say, WOW. We had just the right mix of toons for all the puzzles, and went in blind (no walkthrough prior). Holy &&&& was that fun. I have played me some MMO's, and can't remember a more enjoyable romp through a dungeon.
Is there more of this type of gameplay to come? I sure hope so. Can't wait to see what's around the next corner!
Glad you enjoyed it! It is indeed a lot of fun to go through.
Unfortunately, it's the exception rather than the rule. Most instances are... fight some monsters, walk a bit, fight some monsters, walk a bit, fight a boss, walk a bit, fight some monsters, walk a bit, fight another boss, you win.
Not many with puzzles and such. But there are a few. Fil Gashan and Dungeons of Dol Guldur come to mind.
I have to say that I agree completely with this sentiment. I LOVED Inn of the Forsaken and am sad that:
1. There are no other instances like it. Sometimes, I wonder why certain instances have monsters in them at all; "trash" is certainly a very accurate moniker.
2. No people run it.
