Clicking vs. Mouseturning/keybinding. mainly for pvp
i recently switched from keyboard turning and clicking to mouseturning with keybinds. and honestly it seems more beneficial to click, even in pvp. with all the lag lately it is such a pain to run in recklessness, and mouseturning is most beneficial for melee classes. so i tend to run assailment a majority of the time.
clicking i am much more aware of cooldowns, as well as positioning(keeping multiple creeps in front of me). sure mouseturning i find eyes on the action a bit more, as well as being more helpful in 1v1 situations.(only cm)
my goal was to maximize my potential in pvp as well as pve. however i feel im going backwards.
i would like to get some opinions from both sides, and if anyone has switched i would like to hear their reasons for switching and how it compares. ive only been mouseturning for about 2-3 weeks so i know the muscle memory hasnt quite kicked in all the way. but lately ive been getting exceedingly frustrated in pvp.
While some will say keybinds/mouseturning is the only way to go, I kinda think one should do whatever feels more natural to them. You're not going to do any better trying to do something that doesn't feels right, so if clicking feels better to you, then by all means click. I personally do both. I keybind and mouseturn, but click also when I'm not having to move. Masteries especially are tough to find a comfortable, easily memorable pattern to bind them. One thing I do is get rid of all the modifier binds. shift1, alt1, ctrl1, etc. I replace the row 2 with f1-f12, row 3 gets letter keys radiating out from q, w and e, which are my movement keys. I use standard 1, 2, 3, 4, for sp, sh, fi, gambit execute, row 3 with the letter keys for masteries. Row 2 fkeys are ranged skills, stealth, crit strike, etc. The rest of row 1 is recoveries, battle prep, stances. A vertical bar on one side bound to the numpad keys holds all my potions, curatives and foods. Travel skills go on an unbound bar along the top.
-i do currently have the razer naga. i use the thumb keys as a wasd interface, as well as a few macros i use to quickly switch LIs. idk if this is the max potential it has
-i agree with ur idea of whatever feels more comfortable is the way to go. this was more of a test to see how it would compare. i just see myself getting lost in tight situations that i would be able to handle before in pvp. currently im using shift+ a,s,d,z,x,c for masteries, as well as alt and ctrl with the same keys for javelin skills and careful step/ambush/CS. i was hoping it would get more comfortable with time. but idk its not like im vastly uncoordinated lol, im just seeing far less improvement than i was expecting.
im considering just saving mouseturning for 1v1s. cuz that seems to be the only real time it is necessary.
My experience is more PvE, but I could see how this might be a problem for PvP. I use keyboard. Reset my skills to the 10-key, jav skills on ctr 10-key, random on alt, and masteries in shift (which is especially comfortable, as the 10 key makes it perfect for 3 rows of the 3 masteries). Targeting and other such governed by the arrows and Insert, etc keys. If you're needing to switch targets a lot, it's a pain. Otherwise, I'm happy with the change. I feel more efficient... who knows if I really am?
EDIT: Minor detail I forgot to include: In my 10-key mapping I have the gambit button set to Num-Enter, not Num-4. Makes it especially comfortable for manual gambit builds; 2-1-3-2-Enter. I like the logical masteries layout there too. But I use a 10-key at work, so it's comfortable for me more than it may be for others.

I have 2 words for you "razer naga". Best investment i made in a long time - takes time to get used to it but once u do ...
lol thats wicked funny that was just what I was gonna post. The Razer Naga is it. I got one years ago and it changed how I play the game. For the warden it is awesome and fast.
I didn't read your follow it and it seems you already have the naga. I never thought of using the keys for a wasd setup. I use WASD on my keyboard in combo with the naga to move and the I use the 1-12 on the naga in combination with the keyboard ctrl and shift to execute skills. I feel very comfortable and in control with this setup.
