Problem is, most neighbourhoods there are only a tiny number of people - and the likelihood that all members will be on at the same time, let alone in the same place, is pretty small (and that's assuming they're still playing the game).
However, when a kin manages to get a neighbourhood that can be really good. I've also been at a couple of RP events at people's kinhalls and kinhouses, and those have been awesome - the difference between an empty neighbourhood and one filled with players is immense. It's just difficult to imagine how housing could be changed so that there's a reason to visit and stay at it without prior organisation.
I don't think a day has gone by where I didn't port to my housing neighborhood. I use it for cheap pots/repairs/crafting mats and storage. It looks pretty, too.

I agree.. I do this as well.. plus the storage aspect of the Kinhouse and My House...
Just sad to see all the houses locked that is all...
I actually use my house quite often. Feel free to visit it, or me, at 6 Chalk Road in Addernotch, Shire.
I dump unbound items into my chest, and the go over to the homestead management, where I can access my vault or a generic vendor. And when I feel like just idling without ninja fellowship or kin invites...
It's fairly close to Michel Delving, so I can get to the Auction Hall fast, or the crafting area. It's not as close as the dwarf area, and who decided to put the human housing so far away?
Our kin (read - Gil) has gone to a fair bit of effort to fill the kin house with rare housing trophies. The only thing I believe we are missing now is the unwelcome mat. I tend to stop by a couple times a week anyhow.
I'm probably at my house every other day, have one storage toon parked there. My personal home is at thorin's -the only neighborhood NOT far away from the major center.
