Want to evade, run away but can't

Finally got the game to work am at the dwarf mission to collect the herbs now. Why can't i run away? when i click on another place, it just spins back to enemy and i Need to escape! Then i died because he kept facing the enemy again. Is there a way to have non aggressive stance?

    Help?

if your camera always faces the target press the X key to move the camera freely

the only evade and run away is to actually take controll of your character and make it run away from the target but as long as your in range you wil be hit by anything comming at you

if your character keeps turing back to fire its bow or attack, stop auto attacking by clicking on the big round weapon icon in the middle of the skill bars, if you have a skill in the queue your character will still try and use the skill if your in range, pressing esc (iirc) will clear your skill queue

You can Uncheck- 'autotarget nearest enemy' in your UI, if all else fails.

And go into /o (options), Key Bindings, and remap that to something other than "x" - maybe [Shift+X], so you don't bump it by accident ever again. You're not the only one to have died due to this inexplicable default chosen by the Lotro designers. :/

    Thank you all!

I logged out and came in, and put run forward. Now it's ok. Yes i guess free games have glitches.

? High dollar subscription games have glitches too.

With too many autos on, your character will try to turn toward and auto attack anything that is attacking them.

Haha, this glitch is probably on you, humble user.

There is indeed a mechanism that will have you facing anything you have targeted, including something that is trying to kill you. You can toggle the X key, or you can go into keymapping and the very last keymap, iirc, will turn off "auto face target" or something like that.

It's a recently added feature, and I can't figure out for the life of me why it was toggled on as default, given the few number of people I imagine using such a feature.

Not that the game is without glitches, but it has little to do with being free, since most of the basic mechanics have been around since the game was subscription-based not so long ago.

Because its designed to make your life easier in mounted combat, this is why it was added.

I like the look at your enemy and close the distance features. I had to set them when I started. But then I don't often run away

Well I don't know about you, but I don't have access to mounted combat.

Seems like a toggle on the horse skill bar would have been the way to go, since it's not as useful on foot--all I've seen so far about the auto-face target is "how do I turn off auto-face target?" followed by a chat channel full of X's.

I went to the settings panel, the blue button on the left right? most of them have arrows and doesn't seem to have that option. Is it a checkbox?

Nor do I, but I do remember a post by +Sapience or +Celestrata that says that this is the reason the lock-to-target feature was added

How well it will work in practice? No idea. It's clear that Aaron Campbell prefers doing it manually.
