Thread: Comments on Expansions...in a song!

While I am as articulate as many others on the forum, I decided to put my general comments on expansions in song form. Here is my little contribution to the expansion commentary...

lol...I most certainly did make this And just because I used the line "Its got Pandas!", doesn't make it about WoW. Generally, I write parodies to be MMO generic...though I do have several game specific songs like "Dabo With Leeta" for Star Trek Online. I tend to use MMO memes to make a point, but I otherwise try to use things from lots of MMOs. "We Didn't Start The Genre" is an example of referencing a bunch of MMO titles!

Yes, its true...I smile a lot! The use of emoticons, at least on my part, is an attempt at clarification of attitude and mood, but that's just me

To address a previous question, I shared my song as a way to convey my despirate hope that the RoR expansion won't be just a money grab. As has been said numerous times on these forums, RoR (in my humble opinion), charges more and gives less than previous expansions.

Personally, I've gotten a bit jaded when it comes to Turbine's approach to LOTRO. While it once held my full attention, it appears to have devolved into a grindy money grabber that I have fallen out of love with. I had high hopes for RoR and prayed it was going to be a real boost to my desire to play LOTRO, hence the foundation for the song.

While this thread was moved to the "Off-Topic" zone, it still is meant to convey my personal commentary on the RoR expansion, as well as gaming expansion in general. If I disturbed someone's cornflakes by making this post, it certainly was not my intent...but I am free to post here just the same.

For those that enjoyed the song, I appreciate your kind remarks. For those that don't, I can only say that you can't please all the people all the time. Being a parody artist is hard work, but it is my way of doing social commentary on the MMO gaming genre. Sure, I could write pages and pages of opinion in cyberspace or maybe even put my education to use and publish a book on it. That, however, would not make people smile a lot...which is my goal

Never said I didn't like the song. Just thought it was made for another game and then conveniently applied here. I don't see how it correlates to RoR at all.

And if you think it's over priced, don't buy it. I'm not. If you're jaded, hey fine. Join the club. I've been jaded since UO split into PvP and PvE. It's MMORPGs, man. It's not Turbine. I guess people thought because it was Tolkien, it wasn't a business, or was going to be run like a Hobbit farm fresh stand.

Its an expansion you can pre-order...at least that's how I've seen it advertised in the 600 emails I've gotten about it...lol

Careful...with a little polish, some decent mixing software, and a backing track, you could make a decent song here
