Worst day of my life as a warden

Today while working on the epic questline I came upon a quest instance involving the ring forges of erigion(not saying details so i dont spoil for anyone). With my slighlty obsesive need to aggro the whole instance, I was about half way through the mobs when all of a sudden one of the worst things possible happened............my shield broke. After all my efforts I whatched helplessly as my morale slowly drained and I was consumed by the countless mobs.

thank you for listening to my tragic tale and please take my advice and BRING TWO SHIELDS WORST THING POSSIBLE
Sindon we bald, Sindon we strang, Eorlingas , Fram ond trum.

Had it happen to me once in Foundry ( tho I was fairly drunk at the time and had forgotten to get all armor repaired before entering the instance ), also was in a PuG raid when Guardian MT shield broke half way through boss fight (needless to say he was not the most popular person in raid)

basically just remember to get into a routine -> top up the number of wound, disease, poison and fear pots, ensure you have scrolls , tokens, morale & power pots , repair at regular intervals do not wait for the visual reminder that an item is damaged , then you have no problems.

I feel your pain! I've actually had a very similar experience a while back. My warden and a friend's champion were cleaning out the sixteenth hall in the depth of Moria. I went in and pulled a bazillion of Globsnaga orcs (and believe me, there are more than enough of those in that place ) and the Champion began hacking away at their backs when suddenly my massive warden shield turned a sickly yellow colour and we could do nothing but watch helplessly as it crumbled to dust, then watch the Globsnaga pound me into the ground and finishing up the champion afterwards. A most humiliating experience for a mighty hobbit warden .

I like your idea of bringing a second shield along for the fun. I think I'll go and craft myself a replacement shield tonight just in case!

    Worst day as Warden

... is still better than my best day as a Lore Master.
    Tiger got to hunt,/ Bird got to fly;
Man got to sit and wonder, 'Why, why, why?'
Tiger got to sleep, / Bird got to land,
Man got to tell himself he understand.

This has happened to me twice: the first time was in the 16th hall pulling a bazillion Globsnaga, but it was toward the end of the fight, and I was able to hang on for the last few orcs.

The second time was when I was duoing the Spider wing at lvl 50 with a 54 cappy. We were on the last boss, and he had died within 5 seconds of the beginning of the encounter. My shield wasn't repaired so it broke (along with 1/2 of my gear and my spear) just as the last two Angmarim spider summoners entered the fight. Yeah, there must have been about 40 mobs running around tearing me to pieces then.

It just shows how much healing you get from blocking/leaches. I parsed over 1 million heals afterwards =O.

Other toons (Elendilmir): Lorespark Man LM, Sparkness Dwarf RK, Bowspark Man Hunter, and Leadspark Man Captain.

i lost my sympathy for you about here

i know what you mean though, it would suck to lose the ability to use a third of your skills mid quest XD

I had this happen to me once as well, but fortunately for me I did have an extra shield in my bags that I was able to switch over to. Keep in mind though, items in your bags still receive damage, so it's not like you're going to pull out a nice shiny new shield out of your bags. The one I pulled out had already received 50% damage, but fortuanately for me we finished the fight before that shield failed too.

This is probably the best advice in order to avoid the above.

LOL! Reminds me of one time when I went fishing during I think the Summer festival a year or so ago. I didn't realize that when you slot your fishing pole for use that it takes out not only your weapon but also your shield. After fishing someone asked for help with something in Mirkwood (at the time level 65 was still the level cap) and I said sure no problem. It was one of those instances in the epilogue that for most classes require a small fellowship (not Warden's of course). Well I reslotted my spear and went merrily on my way and even fixed everything prior to going out at a vendor. I looked in my bags and saw a shield I didn't realize was there. I forget which shield it was but it was the one that drops in Sword Halls. I had had times before when I had an extra one of those that I just would vendor as it was bound. Well, little did I realize that it was my only shield and I proceeded to go on with my friend to Mirkwood and didn't realize I had no shield until I had a whole slew of orcs all over me and I could do next to nothing to fight them. Lesson learned on that fishing pole, believe me!

had this happen to me when soloing sammath gul on the last pull before the challenge boss. had to go out and repair, which lost the challenge quest (well reset it, which meant i would have had to restart the entire instance since I had already killed gorothul). so killed the challenge boss but didn't technically get credit for the quest.

I don't know why turbine makes the good shields 'normal' instead of tough. My guard and warden the shields are always the first to go. Both have carried two shields forever. I recently reworked my guards relics and gear to get more block and his shield goes yellow while the rest of his gear is still at 60-70%. Just seems stupid to me.
