Thread: Can't move character / forward & backwards keys not working!!!!

During gameplay, my character will randomly freeze and not be able to go forward and backward with the 'w', 's', forward arrow, and backward arrow keys. I can pivot with the 'a', 'd' and left and right arrow key, but I can not move the character. Outside of the game, all of my keys work perfectly. Can someone help me?

This often happens when the client and server get out-of-sync or disagree on the correct position of your character. When this happens, your character may freeze in place (as you've described), or even bounce back and forth between two positions.

This is what many people describe as lag, hitching, freezing, or rubber-banding, although those words can describe several different issues, too.

The cause of this issue is usually packet loss on the internet between your computer and Turbine's servers. It can also happen during times of heavy load on Turbine's servers.

There's usually nothing you can do from your end to fix this issue. If you wait 30-60 seconds, it may clear up on its own. If not, try logging out to the character selection screen and back in.
