Nope, I think you missed the bit about where I deleted all my characters and installed xubuntu on my windows desktop.
@cossieuk thanks for the link to the refund page. The links for more information go to a 404 not found so I contacted them via support.turbine.com and have asked for a refund for RoR. Not holding my breath on that, past caring at this stage. I just spent the last 3 hours working on my C extension for PHP to speed up Wordpress so I'm feeling somewhat liberated to be free of the pull to login to LotRO when I should be doing something productive.
To those who have wished me well I bid you a hearty thank you.

... Sorry, couldn't resist XD... Anyway, as to everything in your post that I snipped out, I pretty much agree (as to the fact that Turbine should at least listen to some of the player base). And I just want to take a second and say, "seriously people?" I lifer can quit any time. All they have to do is never log back into the game again. Or they can quit till Turbine fixes the issues that caused their departure. There is no need to delete characters to quit the game. You don't need to go drop your lifetime status to quit it. Quitting is simply the act of not partaking in the game again. Why does the OP have to jump through so many hoops just so YOU believe that he quit?

I think the blood baying and attitude of some people in this thread towards a concerned member of our community is absolutely disgaceful.
To treat a fellow player with such contempt for airing their opinon and reasons for not wanting to play the game any longer is something that just doesnt sit right with how the community was at one time percieved. Sadly it seems that the "more mature" nature of our community is slipping through our fingers.
thankyou for you time, Elle (Rachel)

I believe this is the best approach. If you enjoy the game, OP, by all means go on enjoying it. Just disregard what you don't care for. Hell, I do that with the whole "raiding is the only way to play" mentality.

And those of you spouting the various witless "Can I have your stuff" and "Don't let the door hit ya" remarks...can it. You should be ashamed. This is not how the LOTRO community I've come to know and love behaves.

Reading posts about the dummies prior to actually getting on the game I was expecting far worse than what I found. I will agree that the sparkle bit around the feet of each is a bit much but didn't find the placement of them to be too out of place. I like the idea of being able to see outfits in a 3D style for perusal. I was a supporter of this same thing for all the horses so one can see items before purchase. It isn't the most lore appropriate but in my estimation I must say it is far better than what we could be facing as far as store item postings in the game. I am sad that some people seem to have had such strong feelings over something that is a bad precedent but not the end of the world as we know it. Just my opinion

I don't see anything wrong with them. They're unobtrusive, and from the few sites I've seen in my travels, realistically placed near vendors, akin to sidewalk displays. I enjoy fluff now and then and look forward to an outfit that really catches my eye. I'm sure you're well aware you receive 500 TP every month without paying a dime out of your pockets? And if you're truthful about how often you spend on TP straight from your wallet, that just seems hypocritical that you complain about the Store. Surely you don't buy them just to stockpile them for fun?
It seems rather shallow of someone to leave the game just because of that. I view them as being hopeful of adding customizable Apparel Dummies for Housing down the road, possibly as a feature of RoR. The technology is clearly realized now. Turbine has little to back up on now for a long-requested addition to Housing. If they can drag-and-drop cosmetics onto them via Permissions, there is no reason we can't in our House.
I'm also a Beta Lifer who preorders the most expensive expansion bundles and still buys large sale point bundles, I view LOTRO as an investment of a hobby, nothing more. If you've been addicted to logging into the game and setting aside real life priorities, I'm glad you've had a change of heart (we only live once!), and I think you're using the Store bandwagon as a scapegoat to justify it. The fact that you're a Lifer and that you'll always have a full-fledged account and that you still check back on this thread, tells me you may not be fully committed to leaving for extended periods

Lifer quitting over dummies? Oh, cmooon, spare me the drama.
Dummies are ugly and blatant immersion breakers, yes. The moment I saw those I was disgusted and thought "That's so low"!
Will I quit over those? No. I'm here for my friends and for the fun playing together.
Is the Middle Earth a worst place today becouse of the dummies. Definitely. Costume dummies in Angmar, Forochel, Moria, Mirkwood, Dunland??? Cmooon Turbine, get over your greed! This is just silly.
This said I will continue playing the game with my friends and will continue being disgusted everytime I see a dummy.
