Captcha on Site Login is Broken

Logging into the website requires you to enter Captcha words.

Most people do not realize this because the Captcha has a bad security certificate and is being blocked from loading on a lot of browsers. The Captcha does not even show up in Chrome or Firefox, and in order to get it to show I had to use IE and then allow bad certificates. If you try to log in without it, you get a bad "authentication" error on your login information, even if its 100% correct.

This is what is causing all the problems.

Please either fix the Captcha or remove it for Website/Forum login.

    Thanks!!

which site are you trying to logon to? ive just tryed myaccount.turbine.com and its working fine

maybe theres a problem with your browsers ssl store, try deleting the SSL certificates from your machine failing that clear your temp internet files using ccleaner or similar

another possible cause of SSL certificate failures are incorrect time\date set for your timezone.
you should also makesure SSL 3.0 and 1.0 are also selected in your web browser(s)

iirc some add blockers can cause problems with recaptca

I'm a bit lost. I've never had to enter a CAPTCHA to log in to any of the LOTRO websites. Why would you go out of your way to force something to show that would then block you from logging in?

@OP: I use Firefox/Waterfox, and the Captchas appear on the myaccount.turbine.com page as always. Sounds like a problem with your browser.

I like that none of the people who responded to this post have the slightest clue what the issue is, yet chose to berate the OP.

    a) The issue has NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH MYACCOUNT.TURBINE.COM

    b) When you attempt to log in to the forums and fail to log in the first time, for whatever reason, it should display a captcha. On EVERY SINGLE MODERN BROWSER, this fails. It fails because the recaptcha URL used is wrong.

When it fails, IE will give you a "Certificate Error" pop-up at the bottom of the browser. Clicking that disables the certificate check and allows the captcha to load. This is an unacceptable solution, and sure as hell isn't something I'd be asking my customers to do.

When it fails in Chrome, nothing is displayed. Hitting F12 to pull up the console will display the failed GET. For example:
    https://api-secure.recaptcha.net/cha...lZiVPGgQyTmSfG

Pulling up the page will display the security warning and allow you to continue, which will then allow you to view the captcha when you reload the login page. Again, &&&.

This has been an issue for nearly two years now, and has been an issue on every single system and browser I've used.

The *SOLE* time this does not become a problem is if you log in successfully on the first attempt.

If I enter the wrong password, the three fields are cleared. Red error is printed. All I have to do try again - enter my user id, password and check the keep me logged in box.

I never seen the behavior you are describing. The only place that captcha appears for me on MyAccount. It often takes multiple attempts to get past the captcha check because I can't figure out the captcha. Some days - like today - I have been logged at five times. I get plenty of opportunities to enter my user id and password.

Quoted For Truth. It is like he describes it. I just tried to log in the forums with Firefox and was always denied, loaded the site wit IE and after the first attempt to log in, the browser shows the info with the certificate issue and after letting the browser show the unsecure stuff, well I get the captcha window and can log in after entering my credentials and the captcha without problems.

An issue the webmasters should take a look at as it could easily be fixed, as the solution has already been provided:
