there is no right way... just arrange it as it suits you best... my kin Guardians usually facepalm when they see my skill arrangement, so do whatever you like as long as you can play like that...

As the others have said your skill bar config should be unique to you, but I'll show you mine anyway and try to explain a couple things about it.

First its important to note that I am a big time mouse clicker, every one of my skills is clicked unless it is in slot 1-5 on the bottom row. Those first five are hit with my fingers but everything else is clicked.

I've highlighted a couple things on my bars first is the top row the four skills circled in red. This of course is your parry chain and no matter where you place it on your bars it should be in that order so you can just click one after another. It flows well if you are a clicker. I also circled in red whirling retaliation on the bottom bar. This also starts your parry chain and is a lot better to use than regular retaliation but since its an AOE attack I put it out of the way so I don't accidentally hit it.

On the bottom bar I circled in blue three skills that I use when in tanking mode. These three skills I switch out with the three circled in yellow when I switch into overpower. Because I always keep my most commonly hit skills in 1-5 if I'm going into overpower I wont need the shield skills anymore so those go to the far end of the bar and the op skills come over to the prime spots.

Like others have said tho your skills are going to be set up differently than almost every other tank. There is no "best" configuration because while leveling and playing you should be memorizing where stuff is. Lots of tanks would look at my config and think its totally ridiculous but I've been using it for five years so I don't even need to think anymore its just ingrained in my mind where stuff is.

I put lower CD skills more to the left, longer to right. I put reactive skills higher up, so as they unlock I'm hitting the same key but with modifiers. Yes, a two dimensional array.

Others seem to do similar but might rotate it 90 so their reactives go along the same row.

I do the same regardless of class. It helps to have some uniformity, so my interrupt (stamp on guard, addle on burg, I-forget-name on mini) is always on 6 for example. This way I don't have to think/adjust, my fingers are reaching for the correct keys automatically.

(I don't click much, only BuffBar pots and really long CD skills way off to the right.)

I like such topics and find them rather useful for new players. My UIs for some chars are based on what I saw on forums, but I never saw any UI for a guard. So this is what I ended up with myself:

    Some remarks:

I am a clicker (at least for my guard) and after reaching the level cap I almost never traited OP. So most of OP skills like Force Opening and Stagger are in the least convenient locations. I simply do not use them.

My guardian's UI follows the pattern for other classes. All stances/toggles are usually in the upper left corner, LIs are always on the right side, survival skills with long cooldowns are in the right bottom part.

My notations are not 100% correct. I know that the sweeping cut and guardian's ward are not direct agro skills but they are part of my tanking rotations. CaB is stuck on my UI since low levels though I mostly ignore it nowadays.

I hope the general idea is clear: I start the fight with the skills on the left (challenge/fray), then move along the two yellow parts depending on situation. Maybe this pattern will help somebody

why would you have parry stance in there?

Also Fray The Edge is single target aggro, not a challenge skill.

so anyway, here goes my absolutely confusing and chaotic skill setup... don't ask me why it is like that, I kinda got used to it somehow and now it has to stay that way...
(screen taken a few weeks ago when me and 2 kinnies were bored and three-manned Foundry )

most important thing I guess is that skills I have to press quickly (stamp, CtD, challenge, Engage) and the ones I press most often (ward and shield blow) are where I can easily use the shortcuts, while I use the mouse for most of the skills on the right side of the bars - except for Litany/Shield Taunt, I usually ctrl+8/9 them... again, don't ask me why I put them there, I have no idea... haha...

I did mention that my notations are not 100% correct And gave some examples, there is no need to be pedantic here. It is not a guide on tanking, just a suggestion how one can place skills on UI.

I keep parry stance just because I like to see all available skills for each class. My champ has Ardour stance exactly at the same position If a skill is not used - even better, it serves as a visual divider for me. Another example of such visual (though much more useful) is the Sweeping Cut placed between block skills and the only parry skill I regularly use.

    Lunasa or Sir_Thorblod:

Is that the Empowered Anduin Martyr's Bauble on your quickslot? (Lunasa has it at 12 and ST at alt+5)

I don't have the 3 pieces yet - so I don't know how it works. Do I have to equip a different pocket item, or does it grant a "skill" that I can click?

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the derailing the thread.

Yes, it is the Martyr's Bauble. It must be equipped and you can click on the item directly in order to activate the 'clicky' effect. I doubt you will want to open the character screen during the fight, so the easiest way is to drag this pocket item (or any other item with a 'clicky') onto a quickslot. You will also see the cooldown being activated after you click it, so you can just treat it as an extra skill.

you have to have all three pieces, then when you have the Bauble equipped you can use it to get the temporary morale it grants. Not that great for a Guard, since it's only a but more than 2k morale (which is not that much really), but then again it's better than nothing and at least there's a heal at the end if that bubble is removed through damage...
