As a new Captain, I don't understand why Captains don't have any Stances as the other classes do. I assume that in place of 'Stances' we have 'Tactics', but why are the Stances that the other classes use indefinite, while Captain Tactics are limited to 30 minutes before they need to be re-cast? I suppose it becomes automatic to keep recasting you Tactics eventually, but I'm finding it a pain to wonder why I am suddenly finding things harder going and then discovering that the Stance has timed out yet again.
Neither RK or LM have stances. Minis have two stances, but their default healing 'stance' is the absence of one of the other two stances.
Tactics are also not really comparable to stances at all. You can cast them on yourself, switch them at will, and cast different ones on different party members.
I'm personally all for keeping stances off the captain, it's a pretty unique and versatile class and I believe stances would remove some of that.

Captains don't need stances. We toggle between Brother skills to change the way we play.
Then I wish the Tactics either lasted longer, or we had some sort of warning that they had timed out. With all the other stuff going on, I sometimes forget about them.

I have my Buffbars set up to show all my cappy buffs in a specific area of the screen. Makes it really obvious when I need to re-motivate and crit myself, or if I forgot to turn IDOME on.
The BuffBars look really interesting, I downloaded them, but can't get them to work. Am I doing something stupid here? I assumed they are a standalone mod, but have I got it wrong? Do I need something else to get them working?
i used to be very much FOR them... as a long-time WoW Druid, i LOVED stance-dancing and loved that class... however, the player-base does not like hybrid classes. Hybrid classes breed major insecurity and jealousy from other classes (my historical MMO experience) and force the devs to redesign the hybrids into situational-specializers. basically, pick your roll BEFORE the fight and are forced to stick to it, instead of switching on-the-fly and filling the gap/deficiency the group may have.
so, that is why i am against it... it forces us into roles. whether you may realize this or not: stances will (or will become) a way to make us pre-specialize.
look at Burglars, they cant switch in-combat... this leads me to believe that is the thinking in LOTRO. pick a stance before the fight and stick with it.
when i first started WoW, i was great at healing, pulling off healers, and off tanking on-the-fly. i hate a ser role. always have. it does NOT fit MY play-style.
as far as stances being able to be switched on-the-fly, then why need stances? just give us all our utility in ONE stance, capn-stance! oh wait, thats how it is now!
so, i see no need for this.
give me a good idea or good reasoning and ill listen.

It would be nice if the tactics were to become a list of stances on ourselves, more out of convenience than anything else. I don't see this as too far fetched, seeing as IDOME became a toggle on ourselves, saving the headache of a plethora of recasts.
Instead of having to cast say, 'Relentless Attack' on myself every so often, it should be a toggle only on the caster (myself). Everyone else gets the timed versions. If a Captain (with higher tactics values) casts on another Captain, it would also be a timed version, forfeiting the receiving Captain's toggle. Re-toggling would erase the timed buff, so one cannot have both types active at the same time.
Perhaps a similar change for 'Motivating Speech', where the Captain (caster) gets a toggle that doesn't have to be reapplied on oneself. The skill cast, on the other hand, would bestow the timed buff on everyone else in the fellowship.

Captain have a stance: aggressive stance which is a buff triggered by Grave Wound.
but in the way you mean it, cappy got enough of what you might call stance: the equipped standard and the Brother-Buff used, sadly you only get the 2 other brother-buff skills in the 70s level, many as me ask to get them sooner, personnally I would like in the 40s level, if not sooner

We really need to be skill complete (with only upgrades remaining) by the time we get our capstones.
Still there is no need of making new Stance; as I suggested in that linked post I would like to see a trait that make the Aggressive stance last until OOC for 9 seconds.
